Ace: This is going to be the last chapter of Isa's school day, as I don't want to devout ten chapters or so to that, as it takes the story away from the main conflict I'm planning to use.
A note, there won't be Isa x Marth. They get on each other's nerves frequently, as seen in this chapter. In fact, I'm not doing pairings with Isa right now, as a) she is crazy b) this is early in the story, c) Isa is not known well yet, d) she isn't the type of person who immediately crushes on boys when she first meets them, and e) I'm not the type of person who immediately does pairings at the beginning of the story (except for the Diana x Pit, but they have a backstory. I don't know where to put that in yet.)
Also, when a person says tick, they are referring to Japanese symbol (or veins) that appear on characters that are enraged or super annoyed.
Update 3/9/14- I renamed this chapter, as I got a review that suggested a better name. So I didn't rewrite the chapter overnight or something like that.
Disclaimer: I do not own Super Smash Bros.
Chapter 8: The First Day, Continued
Zelda
"Finally, we finished English," Pit said as Mario left the classroom. We had ten minutes before Science started, and about half of us had left the room, leaving only Link, Ike, Marth, Pit, Diana, Isa, and I in our desks.
"It's not that hard," I responded. "And Mario did a good job teaching English."
"I have dyslexia," Pit grumbled. "It's harder for me to do stuff like this."
"That was cool," Link completely disregarded Pit's sentence and began talking to me. "Wonder if our science teacher would be as awesome?"
"Hey Isa," Diana asked. "Do you know who our science teacher is?"
Isa didn't respond. Her head was down, and it looked like she was asleep. I poked her, but she muttered something about ninjas and curled herself up in her arms. Lovely. She slept as much as Link, and fell asleep faster too.
(Shut up! It is true Link! Now let go of the microphone!)
Marth, who sat on Isa's right, must have been upset with Isa still, as he took his book and slammed it on her desk. Hard.
"Don't drop that glitter on me Katie!" Isa yelled as she jumped in her chair. "I don't need that for Tae Kwon Do! That'll make me look like a weirdo! Wait, what happened? Where am I?"
Marth burst out into laughter. "That's hilarious! I should have done that earlier! You probably get disoriented after you fall asleep, and anything that happens around you messes with your head!"
"Shut up, Martha," Isa said with a smirk as a tick formed on her forehead.
"What did you just call me?" Marth said in a steel tone.
"Oh boy," Link muttered as he rubbed his temples. "Here we go again..."
"I called you Martha, Maria," she responded with a smile.
"Don't you dare call me Martha or Maria... Bella," Marth said with a grin.
"That's it!" Isa got up out of her chair as Marth did the same. "I'm taking you out right now!"
"No you're not!" Ike and Link said simultaneously as Link grabbed Marth and Ike restrained Isa. Both boys had difficulties as Marth struggled and Isa tried to escape using Tae Kwon Do. Marth failed to escape, but Isa kept escaping and Ike kept restraining her. As this was happening, Isa and Marth were yelling at each other in Spanish and Japanese respectively, and Ike and Link were yelling at them to shut up in Korean and Hylian.
"Do Isa and Marth hate each other?" Diana whispered to me.
"Yeah. I don't know why though," I whispered back.
"Let me go Aiku!" Isa yelled as she kicked and screamed in flawless Spanish.
That sounded odd to me. Ike's name was in English, he didn't introduce himself to Isa and Isa claimed not to know Japanese... So how did she know how to pronounce Aiku?
Isa, the mysterious voice said softly.
What? She responded angrily.
Calm down. You did start this fight this once. Apologize to Prince Marth. Now.
Kitty, Isa responded. Where were you two minutes ago?
DON'T CALL ME KITTY! I was asleep because I was tired.
Again? Isa asked. Marth started it. But then again, you hate it when I whine, so I'll shut up now.
Show me, Kitty(?) commanded.
Nope, Isa responded. She stopped fighting to focus her energy on the spirit, but I'm pretty sure that Ike and Marth couldn't hear Kitty, so they was probably confused to why she stopped yelling in Spanish and kicking. I think Link could hear Kitty, so maybe he wasn't as surprised as Ike or Marth.
Isabella, Kitty's voice turned steel.
Okay, Isa said. You win. I'll show you.
Images of what had just happened flashed through my mind, along with Kitty's. It's amazing what telepathy can do. Speaking of which, I'm telepathic, and I'm sorry for not mentioning that earlier.
(Shut up Isa! At least I don't withdraw information on purpose like you do! I accidentally forgot!)
Oh, Kitty responded. Sorry, Isa-san.
"Class is going to start in two minutes," Diana stated as she was doodling.
"Promise not to kill each other?" Ike asked in English.
"Promise," Isa and Marth replied.
With those statements, Link and Ike let go of Marth and Isa.
"Jeez, you're strong Marth," Link muttered as he was massaging his arm. "That kinda hurt."
"You just noticed? Dang Link, that's not good, especially since you've known Marth for a few years . And don't be so melodramatic," Pit said. "Ike had to deal with a ninja assassain. He should be the one moaning, not you."
"I though Sheik was the only ninja here," Link replied. "Guess now we get two ninjas now."
"I'm not a ninja," Isa stated. "At least, not yet. Until I get my black belt in ninja training."
After Science with Olimar (hilarious, right?) we all walked to the gym for PE. Or rather, Sonic and Shadow raced each other there, and everyone was in different groups, walking at different paces.
"Link," I said as I caught up with him.
"Yeah Zelda?" He responded.
"Do you think Isa is a bit... Off?"
"Possibly. She keeps yelling at this spirit called Kitty, and her mood constantly changes, like the wind."
"I've noticed that too. Should we keep an eye on her?"
"Yes, we should."
"WHAT WAS THAT FOR?!" Marth yelled suddenly.
"It's called an accident!" Isa screamed back. "I didn't mean to kick you in the face when I did a cartwheel!"
"You didn't warn me!"
"I yelled 'Look out, I'm doing a cartwheel' before I did it!"
"No, you didn't!"
"Yes, I did!"
"There goes a calm first day of school," I muttered as Isa and Marth got into yet another fight.
Isa
After having Zelda use magic to shut up Marth and I from our current disagreement, we were in the gymnasium, eagerly waiting for Wii Fit Trainer (a little cliché, yes, but I had nothing to do with picking her as a teacher people) to teach us something cool (or make do something involving insanity), but she wasn't here yet. As everyone was talking about different things, I was busy thinking about the prophecies/visions that Elendia told me, Runi's threat, and my current rivalry/love-hate relationship with Marth, as Marth and I have only attacked each other about four times in total, and merely ignored each other during class.
Unfortunately, as lots of thoughts with no correlation cross my mind, it becomes a jumbled mess, with no leads anywhere, so if I think of a lot of things, it would take forever to sort them.
Who are the people (other than me) in the visions? Is it anyone here, or elsewhere? I don't know much, so I really can't do a thing with this, as there multiple people who can fit each description. It would be better if I had paper, time, patience, and no one around when I would draw the charts and use evidence, as I don't want to shipped to an asylum or get counseling. Moving on.
How the heck did I make Marth angry with me? I punched him, yes, so it should be: how do I explain my situation and appear sane at the same time? No solution for this thought yet (although I will probably find one soon), so moving on again.
Why did Runi contact me? How did he find me, as I've 'disappeared'? And how did he know my alias, even though it's been two years...
As the last thought coiled around my mind, my other personality- the one that had disappeared several days ago- resurfaced. The mask that hid it crumbled, replaced with dark thoughts and the fear that normally reign over me, and much to my surprise, I gave a small, evil grin, making me feel awkward for reasons unknown to others, but that's intentional.
I don't belong at Smash Manor. I never should have accepted this offer. My entire career was already established when it was shattered. Why did I give in at the end? I could have kept fighting longer, and still be with my friends right now.
Speaking of friends, I already ruined my chance at making friends, unless I count Toon Link, Ness, Kirby, Diana, and/or Pichu, but I doubt they count me as a friend. In other words, I'm alone. But that's fine by me. I might be a loner at times at a younger age, until two years ago...
I despise this place. The many ways things are run here make me sick to my stomach. Tell me that Theater and Fighting normally aren't paired together as a class, I thought silently. And I can't see anyone I know... much to my utter distress. And the structure of this place, in terms of hierarchy? There is none that I can see! It drives me nuts! I need to move on from this thought, or else the tiny slip of sanity I have slowly fades into nothingness.
Any input Mizineko? I grumbled, expecting the cat to jump into my thought process.
I was answered with a giant snore.
It's for the best, I told myself softly as I tried to calm down. There is no need to drag other people into my demented mind, nor annoy Mizineko, who will attempt to whip me back into shape. That is the last thing I need: someone to enter my mind and unleash the horrors that keep me awake on dark nights. Unfortunately, I had my other personality on, so I was still freaking out.
Wii Fit Trainer entered the room, telling everyone to get ready for dodge ball.
With that statement, I was able to (thankfully) squash those feelings down, put my 'playful, annoying' personality on, and then joined the others on the floor. If I didn't have my 'cheerful' personality, then things could be much worse than one would imagine, and would cause me more problems than I need...
Zelda
The dodge ball game took forever, as everyone was good at throwing and dodging. There were also a lot of restrictions: Sonic and Shadow weren't allowed to use their speed abilities; Pit, Dark Pit, and Diana couldn't use their wings, Link and I couldn't use magic, Kirby couldn't use his swallowing abilities or float, and all weapons and abilities except from throwing, running and dodging were forbidden. If all of the above were allowed, we would have something akin to an all-out brawl, which kept making Isa laugh every time we mentioned it. Why did she keep laughing? It wasn't funny. Brawls aren't ever funny.
Wii Fit Trainer picked two of us to be captains, and assigned the rest of the group randomly. Link was one captain, and his team was composed of himself, Dark Pit, Ike, Shadow, Marth, and Kirby. I was the other captain, and my team had Isa, Diana, Sonic, Pit, and Roy.
Link threw a dodge ball when the game started, and chaos erupted. The balls flew everywhere at velocities considered deadly to the average human, and at one point Ike threw a ball so hard that it made a dent in the wall. Ouch. I fell sorry for anyone who gets hit by that.
We were only able to play one game due to the dangerous velocities we were throwing AND it took 15 minutes for someone to get out, and that person was Diana. From there, people began falling like flies (Isa and Marth knocked each other out at the same time, which was would have been funny if it wasn't for the fact that they both got nosebleeds and had to be rushed to Doctor Mario, much to their displeasures, but they did come back blood free and were able to continue the school day) until Link and I were the only ones left standing. Another five minutes passed, and I hit Link with two carefully (not really, actually) dodge balls, successfully ending the game, and Wii Fit Trainer informed us that we wouldn't play games for two weeks. With that comment, we all groaned.
After the complaints, Wii Fit Trainer insisted that we follow her workout class, and again, Isa kept smirking, giggling, and smiling at the most random times. What is up with that girl? I couldn't read her mind when I was focused on something else and she was goofing off too much! This is getting really frustrating.
As this was going on, everyone kept falling when we holding our legs up, and Isa almost fell when she laughed, but still kept her balance. Wii Fit Trainer kept shaking her head and attempted to help everyone else who fell flat on their face.
"Seriously?" I muttered to Link as we started doing plank position. "Do we have to do this?"
"Apparently," he responded. "Not much I can say about it."
Well done Isa, the cat voice stated proudly. Your balance is amazing!
"You hear that?" I whispered.
"Yep," Link responded.
See Neko? Isa responded. It pays to play games and hold positions like this for several hours.
DON'T CALL ME NEKO! Kitty/Neko(?) commanded. You don't hold those positions for hours when you're at home!
I DON'T DO IT BY CHOICE! Isa mentally shouted back. I HAD AN IDIOT CLASSMATE SOME TIME AGO WHO SAID THAT PLANK POSITION STANK AND WHEN MY SENSEI HEARD THAT, WE HAD TO HOLD THAT AND OTHER POSITIONS FOR AT LEAST 15 MINUTES EVERY WEEK EVER SINCE!
Since when? I know you're tired after Tae kwon do since we met, and I've known you since you were 12.
I've been doing it since I was eight, Isa grumbled. And I meet you when I was 13, idiot cat.
I AM NOT AN IDIOT CAT! Kitty/Neko(?) yelled.
"Why is Kitty/Neko screaming?" Link muttered.
"I'll tell you later," I replied quietly.
Lunch was uneventful, so moving on to the next class.
Roy
You know the moment where something bad happens, and you can't help but laugh? Well, that happened to Isa and Ike.
It started when I was chatting with Ike when Isa tried to get my attention, but I was in the middle of talking. She patiently waited for me to finish, but I had no intention of letting that crazy girl talk to me.
"Aren't you going to let her talk?" Ike asked as Isa tapped her foot impatiently.
"Nope."
Isa sighed and began to poke my shoulder. "Roy. Roy. Roy. Roy. Roy. Roy. Ronan. Ronan. Ronan..."
"Why is she calling you Ronan?" Ike raised an eyebrow as Isa kept poking me.
"I call her Bella, and she can't find a good way to mess with me, so she is trying different names to mess with me."
"RORY, COULD YOU PLEASE GIVE ME A SECOND OF YOUR TIME?!" Isa shoved me out of my chair and began to glare at me.
"Rory? Seriously," I muttered as I got up. "That's just a slight variant of my name. Not a good way to mess with me."
Isa hissed a little. "You know what? Forget it. It's nothing of importance. Also, you wouldn't care to know, as you refused to listen to me."
"You're insane, you know that?" I yelled at her.
"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results each time. I merely tried to get your attention by poking you. I wasn't expecting different results each time. You, however, have some insanity," Isa crossed her arms and continued glaring at me.
"That was my job at the time!" I yelled back. "I couldn't give up!"
Ike looked very confused. "What happened? Is this something that happened to you a year ago?"
I sighed. "Long story. Anyhow, you guys ready to take Etiquette with Peach?"
Isa and Ike both dropped their jaws. "WHAT?!"
I smirked. "That's one of our classes. You know that, right?"
"No way," Isa muttered as she pulled out her schedule. Her eyes widened. "This is a joke."
"Nope," I grinned at Isa's obvious discomfort.
Marth overheard us and came up. "Would the lovely Princess Isabella like an escort to class?" he said mockingly and held his hand out.
Isa growled. "Call me Princess Isabella again, and I will not hesitate to knock you out, despite the fact that you technically have diplomatic immunity right now. And don't call me lovely! It's creepy."
"Why don't I get diplomatic immunity?" I asked.
"Ummm... I forgot about it?"
"More like you don't care," I muttered.
Marth smirked. "That's what we're doing. The other students (aka, Sonic, Shadow, and Kirby) have Study Hall."
"Why do they get study hall?" Ike grumbled. "I don't want to do this class."
"That's what Master Hand decided," I yawned.
Peach walked in. "Welcome to Etiquette! Let me call role quickly, and then we'll began our lovely course!"
As Peach called our names and was getting something ready, Isa whispered, "Somebody shoot me now."
Ike grumbled, "I'll do it, as long as you shoot me back."
"Now, let's practice walking like royal princes and princesses!" Peach proclaimed.
"I am a prince," I muttered. "I don't need this."
Isa, however, made a motion that gun, and while she did that, she accidentally lost her balance while doing so and fell backwards, and Ike caught her to prevent her from hurting her head on the ground.
"Well done Ike!" Peach proclaimed. "You are good at helping damsels in distress! Isa, very good dramatic fall! But can you save that for later and join the class?"
"I'm not a damsel," Isa stated.
"And I was preventing her from going to Doctor Mario again," Ike replied to Peach.
"Now Zelda, show the class how to walk," Peach ignored them and kept teaching.
I began to laugh a little. Etiquette was going to be some much fun... At least I can get back at Isa for the pranks she pulled on me a year ago.
Zelda
After Etiquette, I walked out with Diana, and was whispering everything that happened with Isa in PE, as she sent some bad vibes to me.
"Is she evil?" Diana asked.
"Maybe. She's eccentric for sure," I responded.
"What kind of person has a cat spirit with them?"
"Necromancers maybe, but Isa doesn't dabble in necromancy, at least from my point of view."
"For sure. She might deal with craziness and ninja skill." Diana began to mock Isa and was making cat sounds.
"It's rude to mock people Diana," I told her. "Stop it!"
"It is also rude to talk about people behind their backs," Isa stated while she walked between us. Diana and I both jumped. "Isa! H-how long have you been standing there?"
Her eyes conveyed a look of sadness and betrayal. "Too long." Then the soft eyes hardened like steel and she growled. "Go away if you wish to continue making fun of me."
I began to plead with Isa. "Please Isa, I didn't mean to-"
"CODE RED! THE MANOR IS UNDER ATTACK! EVERYONE GO TO THE NEAREST ROOM TO AWAIT INSTRUCTIONS! REPEAT, THE MANOR IS UNDER ATTACK!
Ace: Bleh, that was a long chapter, and I have a lot to state, so I'll do it quickly:
1) I am sorry for not updating at all in February. I was busy, and I was perfecting this chapter. But I may have felt guilty about it as I wrote this, as this chapter is longer than normal, possibly to make up for February's.
2) I wanted to start the main plot, so I cut some scenes I originally planned to have in this chapter (the next chapter would have had the Code Red section), but I will have the scenes; they will appear in another part.
3) How Isa and Roy met will be told later.
Okay then, one more thing quickly.
Toon Link: Will you hurry up please? I want to help with the contest details!
Ace: You mean the one I cancelled/ended just now?
Toon Link: Seriously Ace? Why?
Ace: Yeah, as a) it was a dumb idea, b) no one really cared to read it, and c) I didn't get a lot of reviews.
Toon Link: Come on, Ace! That's not enough reasons! I want to know what happens next!
Ace: I'm not sure if I'm going to update again soon, as I'm having a hard time writing chapters quickly and I'm going to be busy this week. But I haven't given up on the story... At least, not yet.
Toon Link: *Starts pouting* Please? Can you update this week?
Ace: ...
Toon Link: I'm still waiting for your response.
Ace: Maybe...
Toon Link: Yeah! *Runs around cheering*
Ace: *Gets annoyed* That doesn't mean yes, Toon Link! I can still put the chapter up in May! *Looks at readers* Like I said, not sure if I'll update soon. It'll depend on my mood...
Ace
