Ace: I have a few things to state, but I'll do that later. Right now I really want to put this chapter up, so here it is.

Chapter 9: The Defense of the Manor, Part 1

Isa

"What's going on?" I yelled as I began to panic. This wasn't good. I hadn't even been here for 24 hours, and disaster strikes! Gah! I must bring bad luck to certain places!

"No idea!" Link responded. He clenched his fists and looked aroun

"THE MANOR IS UNDER ATTACK. All SMASHERS MOVE TO THE NEAREST BALCONY OR DOOR TO FIGHT THE INVADERS! YOU MAY MOVE AWAY FROM THE MANOR IN ORDER TO FIGHT, BUT DO NOT GO MORE THAN 200 FEET! DEFEND THE MANOR AT ALL COSTS! DO NOT LET THEM ENTER THE MANOR! REPEAT, DO NOT LET THEM ENTER!"

"What balcony?" Diana asked. She looked panicked, and looked like she was ready to faint. Pit went over to her quickly to calm her down. Lucky girl. At least someone cares for her sanity, as I have zero friends and Mizineko fell asleep somehow.

"This way!" Zelda suddenly ran off to the right. "The nearest balcony is the southeast one. From there, we can change positions if necessary!"

I dashed after Zelda and the others as I instinctively went to grab my knife that was normally attached to Mizineko. Except I forgot that I left it in my room as I began to polish last night, and I didn't put it in my uniform earlier. Oops, I thought silently, That is going to kill me later...

"Blast!" I'll be right back!" I yelled to Zelda as I turned around and ran the other direction.

"What the heck Isa?" Marth yelled. "You're not suppose to run off! Master Hand said so! Get back here now!"

"I left my dagger in my room! I'll meet up with you guys in a bit!" I responded as I continued dashing through the hallways.

"Isa! That's a bad idea!" Roy shouted, but I ignored him and kept my running.

After a minute or so of maneuvering through countless hallways, I arrived in my room and snatched my dagger off the dresser. While doing so, a glimmer caught my eye. It was the butterfly bracelet that my brother Shuichi made for me after I got accepted into Smash Manor. The bracelet was gold and the butterfly on it was blue, my second favorite color. Something told me to grab it, and I did so. It wasn't Mizineko who told me to grab it... It was my conscience that stated that bad things will happen if I didn't do so.

Hey, I am capable of my own thoughts, even though I am crazy!

After I put it on, I dashed out of my room in hopes of catching up with the others. Or rather, I attempted to, as I immediately crashed into Link and fell down like the idiot I am. Ow. That really hurt, and it was majorly embarrassing, but thankfully Shiro wasn't around to poke fun at me, or else I would have smacked him in the face. Hard.

"Hey!" I looked up at Link with an angry look on my face. "Hitting you while running is like crashing into a brick wall!"

Link smirked and helped me up. "No, running into Ike is crashing into a brick wall. Running into me is like crashing into a closed door."

I sighed. "Sad thing is, I've crashed into doors before, but not brick walls. I've also hit normal walls, but I'll explain that later. What are you doing here? I thought you were with Zelda's group."

"I WAS with Zelda's group, but you ran off like a headless chicken and I went after you so that you don't die or get hurt, as the fundamentals and physics of fighting here are different from your world, and you could get hurt badly unless you had the help of a Smasher, and you seem to be a bit impulsive. It could have been Marth keeping an eye on you, and as you two appear to hate each other with a passion, it seemed wiser for me to go drag you back to the group than to have you and Marth get into a fight when you guys come back."

"I didn't run like a headless chicken. Nor do I wished to be dragged back to the group, and I AM NOT IMPULSIVE!"

"You do have anger management issues," he stated calmly.

"I do not!"

"I'm just stating a fact!"

"I am not impulsive!"

"If you're not impulsive, then why did you run to your room suddenly?"

I gaped at Link. No comments were made because of my shock. Seriously? I was impulsive? Who knew?

"I'm not impulsive," I said after a few seconds.

Link turned around. "We can argue about that after the battle. Now come on!" Link dashed off into the corridor, and I followed him. As we ran through the hallways/corridors and stairs, I could hear some shouts in the distance, indicating that the battle wasn't good. Link kept running and didn't bother stopping anywhere or join a nearby group. The hallways were literally empty, and after a while, a gigantic shudder went through the hallways. When this happened, Link began to curse under his breath.

"Dammit, the enemy is getting close."

"Then stop their progress right now," I stated.

Link gave me a Are-you-seriously-kidding-me look. "It's not that simple. You see-"

"Just go build a wall or use bazookas to stop them," I interjected.

"You can't just-"

"You could do that."

"But there is no way-"

"Use magic then. It should be easier that way."

"Isa, shut up!" Link screamed at me. I stopped and looked at him. He stopped, sighed, and spoke again. "You can't just waltz into a battlefield with a wall pre-built to stop the enemy. You could with cannons or bombs, but as of right now, we are probably scattered all across the Manor's property, so using the items we just mentioned could hurt or kill our allies. However, we have Master Hand and Crazy Hand, along with everyone else at the Manor, on our side, and at times, Master Hand is near impossible to beat, so I wouldn't worry about losing this battle."

By this point, Link and I had run like two miles nonstop and had occasionally jumped over items that fell over. I was beginning to suspect that the Smashers are either very competitive or are crazy, as normal people would have joined a nearby group or not jogged as fast. But who I am to judge? I am both crazy and competitive. I mulled this over a little, but didn't think much of it. Moving on.

Link looked to his left. "We go this way. Come on Is-" He stopped mid sentence.

"What now?" I asked. Leaning on my left side, I got scared and began to panic. I could see that Link's eyes had widened, and his body tensed.

But that wasn't what scared me.

My panic stemmed from the black portals that appeared around us. Primids began to spill out and surround us. Multiple types of enemies appeared, from Puppits to the freaking big Primids that are capable of squishing me! How the hell did they appear from the portal and not destroy the roof of the Manor?! Oh wait, we have a high roof. Grrr, I'm such an idiot...

I pulled Mizineko out of my sheath and got into a fighting stance while Link pulled out the Master Sword and his shield and stood behind me, facing the opposite direction. I glared at the Primids, who turn glanced at me with looked like pure boredom in their eyes. What? They had emotions?! I thought that they were mindless robots! Gah, this is really messing with my mind, and I HATE it when my mind is messed with, mainly because I might go into vengeance mode and destroy things that get me into trouble.

While this happened, though, a sudden chill went down my spine, and I realized that something was off with these guys. They didn't seem like the ones from the video game. They felt more... malevolent and way more destructive, if that was possible, as they were kinda destructive and evil according to Brawl. Does that mean that Tabuu isn't controlling them? Or was he just more destructive this time around?

One Primid looked at me with its red eyes surrounded by dark gray energy and smiled. I hissed at it, and Link muttered something about demolishing the enemy, as the dark energy was unnerving.

Wait, dark gray energy?! Oh no. It better not be Runi's work, I thought silently. Please just let it be Tabuu. Or some other idiotic fool. But please don't let it be Runi, the one who cursed me long ago and wants my true ability... Please don't let it be him...

Hey, Mizineko suddenly hissed as she interrupted my panicky thoughts. Listen!

Before I could register that Mizineko just pulled off a Navi and wasn't attempting to calm me down like she normally does, a barely audible voice commanded, "Defeat the Smashers who stand in our way! And do not forget the other objective, no matter the cost!"

Ace: This was a short chapter, and right now some of my readers are probably upset for not updating over spring break. Also, this was a little choppy as I couldn't find a smooth transition for different parts. *raises up hands apologetically.* Sorry.

Finally! I've been dying to do this 'arc', or whatever you want to call it, for forever! Yay! But there are other parts I want to do too... So yeah. I plan ahead. A lot.

Since when did Isa have special abilities? *Lol.* Since the beginning, but it changed frequently, as the original version had her get special abilities. (Also, she was a jerk in the original version, could cast magic, was full of herself and saw everyone as slightly inferior, and had very little empathy, at least to me. Thank goodness I reedited this story and changed Isa. I wouldn't have been able to tolerate her. And she had purple hair.)

Speaking of changing the story, the original story was going to be really violent (and four times as confusing as this story. Seriously.). If you don't believe me, then I'll tell you a former plot point: There was going to be a scene where Marth, Roy, and Ike were dying (I think Marth's organs were going to be injured badly and half of Roy's body was broken, and I would have described it in detail. But I forgot what was going to happen to Ike). And then I changed it, thus making it teen friendly.

Anyhow, I would like to point out that Isa is actually slightly paranoid, gets angry quite easily, has moments when she is rebellious, has super dark moments, and panic attacks... Although I pretty sure she doesn't admit this stuff so that she feels a bit more secure that she is 'normal', as she doesn't to feel weak and her past is a little sad, which may feed into her instability. (I want to say her past is really tragic, but it's not really, although it does have its moments where it's sad.) I'm still developing Isa a little, though, so it may take time for her character to be fully fleshed out. On another note about her limitations, she can't even beat-

Isa: *smacks Ace* Spoiler alert, Ace!

Ace: Oh right. I forgot that was in a different chapter.

Isa: You would forget to update- oh wait, you're busy frequently. Never mind that. But you do talk A LOT and get off track easily.

Ace: I can't believe that you didn't know that you were impulsive, but whatever. This is Ace, logging off for now.
