Ace: All of the Warriors (excluding Isa) had certain things they needed in their bag. Isa was uninformed about it, so her bag is different, and it already had stuff in it. Wonder what's in there...
Also, Isa will still be Isa, unless called by another name (Sora, Bella, Isabela, Senkai, her other middle name that has yet to be revealed, etc.). You may call her by any of those names, but I will still call her Isa.
Disclaimer: I do not own Super Smash Bros.
Chapter 16: Sora's past
Isa
I exited the Manor with my bag of supplies. My new group looked at me. "Nice hair style," Zelda commented.
My long hair was now in long pigtails, and my bangs were swept to the left side*. "Not important," I replied.
Link nodded. "Sora, you know what you're job is?"
I shot Link a glare, but then relaxed. "No, sir."
Link nodded. "You're suppose to give us Intel about the enemy and deal with illusions, along with fighting."
I thought about it for a second. "When do we start the quest?"
Zelda got up. "We go to the train station in the nearby town. As much as we would like to use our own train, it's risky having it sent elsewhere."
Ike spoke up. "What's our first stop?"
Zelda looked at a list. "We need to head to Black Lake City. According to Snake's Intel, Seth was seen near a dark mansion there."
"So... We're basically going to a haunted house," I said.
"Basically. We need to go now."
We all grabbed our bags and walked to the next city. Upon arriving, we went to the Train Station. Link showed the conductor something, so he allowed us aboard. After entering the train, I went to the back to isolate myself from everyone. It would have worked great if Link and Zelda hadn't sat down across from me.
"You guys are persistent," I told them.
Zelda looked at me. "You're our Intel about Runi. We need to know as much as possible."
I sighed. "I am NOT telling you my life story. I hate remembering that guy."
Link shook his head. "Look, Isa. In order to defeat Runi, we need to understand him. And to achieve that, you need to talk about him."
I looked at the window. It began to rain, and the train began to move. "I guess I'll tell you."
"When I was ten years old, my brother Hiro made friends with a boy named Runi de Quinn. They got along pretty well, and Runi wanted to see our house. He came over with his family to visit us. Our parents got along fine. Runi got along with my twin Shiro. But he disliked me and my other brother Takahiro."
"I thought you had more brothers," Link interrupted.
"I have three: Shuichi Hironori, Shiro Kenji, and Sadao Takahiro. "
Zelda nodded. "Ah. Continue."
"As a result of this, Takahiro and I refused to be in the same room as Runi. When Hiro and Shiro played games with Runi, Takahiro and I would leave the room and practice either Tae Kwon Do or learn how to use our powers. Takahiro, who was adopted, could use the elements and control darkness. I mastered illusions, but no one else knew we did this. This went on for a year."
"One day, Takahiro accidentally shot a ball of water out of the room. We tried to make sure it didn't make a mess, and when we saw our parents coming with Runi's family, I created an illusion of spilt paint*** to prevent them from knowing Takahiro's powers. Unfortunately, our parents saw through this illusion. When Runi and his parents left, Mom and Dad asked us about our powers. When they discovered our strength, we were enrolled into Senshi Academy. Life was good there, but then Runi found out about our powers. He tried to befriend us, but Takahiro refused and made sure that Runi left us alone. When I turned twelve, Runi tried to steal my powers for his own use after I came home one day. He was fourteen at the time. As the spell to steal my powers was almost done, I threw my nun chucks at him."
"That was smart," Link muttered sarcastically.
I continued. "Runi stuttered and said 'Seal' instead of 'Steal'. My powers were then tucked away, and I fainted. I was taken to the hospital for a few weeks. Then Runi's parents tried to visit us, but our parents shunned them. Hiro got pissed at Runi and refused to talk to him. We then moved, partially because of our dad's job, and also to protect us from them. I haven't seen Runi since, but I recognize the style of his initials- RDQ- anywhere."
"That explains your hatred. But how can you use you powers? They're sealed," Link asked.
"Takahiro and I were goofing off one day when he shot a ball of darkness at me, and apparently, it unlocked some of my powers."
"Anything else?" Zelda asked.
"Runi can manipulate emotions."
Both of the Hylians eyes widened. "What?!"
"If he can stare into a person's eyes, he can cause them to experience intense anger, fear, etc. He wanted my powers so that he can manipulate people into doing what he wanted. You would think that you could avoid looking at him, but he has features that make people go gaga all over him, so it's kind of hard. And he had a spell book, so he can cast other spells, like stealing/sealing people's powers. I have an exact copy of the book with me. It can provide counters. I 'borrowed' it from my brother Hiro."
Zelda looked extremely worried. "Any way to stop him?"
"If you throw stuff at or near him, he panics and begins to freak out. He can get lost easily, and he cannot tell if something is an illusion at times," I replied. "That's all I know. He also has a friend named Spiro, and honestly they look like siblings to me. Spiro can walk into people's dreams, and he's already did that to me two weeks ago."
Link looked shocked. "Is that how he found us?"
"No. Like Runi, he has a horrible sense of direction. And when he talks to people in dreams, he can't locate them."
Link breathed a sigh of relief. "That's good. It makes life easier. But how did they find us? We're hard to locate."
"I don't have the faintest idea," I admitted.
Zelda looked concerned, but she shook her head. "Isa, what do your brothers do?"
"Hiro is really smart and he plans to be a doctor. He's able to heal people pretty quickly. Problem is, he gets flustered around girls and starts to stutter... He's also horrible at fighting."
"My twin Shiro is a musician. I once blindfolded him and turned the lights out in a room. He was able to play Mozart on the piano in the dark. I kind of hate him for that, but then again, he puts hours and hours into practice in order to be perfect, so it shouldn't have been a big shock to me. We also do the 'twin swap', except it can fail."
"How?" Link asked.
"Well... I used to have shorter hair. His was longer, but there were two issues: I cannot tell play music at all or tell the difference between a violin and a viola. The other problem is that Shiro is a horrible fighter, and he flirts a lot with girls, so it gets awkward when he pretends to be me and flirts with my best friends. It creeps them out, but then they realize that it's my brother and proceed to punish him. And me if they get super annoyed."
"I sense that it happened often," Zelda commented with a smile.
I nodded. "More than I would like to admit..."
Link nodded. "What about Takahiro?"
Tears stung me eyes, and as I brushed them away, I noticed Zelda elbowing Link in the stomach. I sighed. "Takahiro, as I stated briefly, can manipulate elements a little bit, along with very minor illusions. He's quiet at times, but if he feels that someone is threatening me, he will not hesitate to kill them in the blink of an eye."
Zelda frowned. "Why?"
I thought about it for a second. "When Takahiro was 8, his mom die of cancer. He was young and was attached to his mother, so it affected him greatly. Then his father ditched him and was never seen again. Takahiro didn't have any siblings or known relatives, so he went to the streets, where he almost died. My father, a doctor, saw him one day in an alley, dying of hunger. Dad gave him some bread, which Takahiro wolfed down. He then took Takahiro home. While he was arranging the adoption papers with my mom and local authorities, he had my two brothers and I watch Takahiro. Takahiro was scared of us. He hadn't been around people for a while. I was 8, and so was Shiro. Hiro was 10. I saw Takahiro shivering, so I ran upstairs to my room. I came down with a Sonic doll, a black scarf that was randomly in my room, and a black jacket my mom had gotten me that was huge at the time. I put the jacket on Takahiro, along with the scarf. Handing him the Sonic doll, I said, "Here," He looked at me, confused. I gave him a hug and kissed his cheek, saying, "You'll never be alone again, Takahiro. I promise you that." He looked at me with wide eyes. "Y-you sure?" I nodded. "Of course. You will be my brother and I will be by your side for as long as you live! You can count on that!" He hugged me back and said, "T-thank you." From that moment on, we were inseparable. We did almost everything together and shared the same friends. We played video games at midnight together and played random games for hours on end. Takahiro would sometimes freak out if I wasn't with him at first, but as time passed, he was able to function by himself. But then fate took my brother away, and for a while, I couldn't function. Maybe that's why I accepted the offer to join Smash Manor, despite my initial reluctance to go: I wanted to separate myself from my brother's death, and to honor his last wish, which was to fight among you guys."
Link and Zelda merely looked at me. "I'm sorry to hear that," Link said.
I didn't meet his eyes. "Link... Sometimes, you remind me of Takahiro with your actions. I don't hate you for that-" I met his eyes at this point "-but sometimes it brings me pain, so I tend stay away from you when it happens, as it's my fault that Takahiro died."
Before Link or Zelda could formulate an answer or ask about his death, Pit walked over to us. "It looks like a funeral here."
"It is," Zelda responded sadly.
"I know. All of us heard everything and didn't speak."
At this point, I noticed that everyone had sat nearby, and they all gave me looks of pity- except for Diana, who looked confused. Upon seeing me stare a bit, a look of sadness washed over her face.
Isa, Mizuneko said. Don't stare. It's rude.
It was an accident! I yelled back mentally.
Zelda noticed this turmoil, but didn't say anything. Then Marth looked out the window. "We're here."
The train pulled to a stop, and we all got out. The city was Noir-inspired, and there will tall buildings all across the city. Zelda pulled a map out, and we followed her around the city.
Marth walked up beside me. "Isa... When you said that Spiro entered your mind some time ago, was it when you fell asleep before I met you."
I nodded solemnly.
Marth smacked his head. "I'm sorry Sora! I thought you were trying to size me up!"
I looked at him. "It's fine. Don't call me Sora!"
"Sorry, Sora..."
I sighed. "If you keep calling me Sora, I will call you Martha."
Marth rubbed his eyes. "Don't."
"I won't don't it of you don't call me Sora," I replied with a
He smiled. "Of course... S-Isa."
I sighed.
"I hope that nothing bad happens to us..." Marth stated.
I stopped in my tracks, causing Pit to bump into me.
"What happened?" Marth asked.
"Curse my memory," I muttered. "Totally forgot Elendia's warnings**."
Link turned around. "What warnings?"
"My friend saw a few peeks in the future, and warned me about nine events that would occur, and I presume that they would happen to all of us (excluding Mizuneko) and at different times, as Elendia's warnings are never exactly in order."
"What are they?" Zelda asked as she pulled a notebook out.
I waved my hand. "Already wrote them down and which one could affect which person. They are: a boy falling and I'm screaming, an angel drowning, a blue-haired boy falling, a blonde haired figure surrounded by darkness, a boy falling to his knees in pain, another's angel's wings getting damaged, the blue-eyed male disappearing in maze, and another male with his arm getting snapped in half."
Everyone blinked at the same time. I could hear crickets chirping, so I sighed. "I'm sorry that I forgot about them. Out of sight-"
"Out of mind," Marth finished for me. He looked at me. "At least you gave us a heads up, Sora."
"Thanks... Martha." I grinned.
Marth bopped my head and sighed. "Let's go," he told the others.
Link, somewhat concerned by news, lead the way. We all followed him. After several minutes of silence, we arrived in front of a black mansion. The initials RDQ were etched across the door.
"Ready?" Link asked.
We all nodded.
Link knocked on the door. I hissed. Ignoring me, he waited. After a few seconds, Link picked his foot up and knocked the door down.
Ace: Long chapter (and slight cliffhanger. Apologies). Next chapter will actually have a boss fight. (Cheers!)
Poor Isa. She has a real vendetta against Runi... And poor Takahiro...
Notes:
*I originally pictured Isa with short hair, but now I see her with longer hair. Officially, she now has long green-blue hair.
**And she forgot her friends too. Nice job Isa.
*** Like spilt paint is the best way to divert attention Isa… You should have put something on top of it….
Quick note: When I said original story, I meant that there was a different version of a story under this story. It was originally a crossover, and Isa admitted that she was Sora Isabela Sentōki in the beginning of the story (and she was all high and mighty, which annoyed me). I really disliked that story, so I wrote this version instead, and I like this one better.
That is all. Until next time...
Ace
