Ace: I finally got a cover art for this story! Although it's temporary, it shows Isa in her normal attire. That being said, she actually wears that and now officially has short hair.

Chapter 18: Lady Palutena

Isa

Marth leaned in a little bit and took a closer look over my shoulder. "Since when did your phone have a GPS app?"

I gave a slight embarrassed giggle as I put my jacket in my backpack due to the heat. "I have no idea... I normally use my phone for music and texting...*"

Marth laughed. "I expected different."

I turned so that he couldn't see my cheeks flush red. For the past few days since the fight with Lila, Marth and I have been getting closer, yet for some reason, we would say certain comments to each other when everyone else was distracted. They teased us to no end, which angered me.

Right now, I was trying to check out location we were in while the others (Mizuneko included) were scouting the area for enemies. I was on a grassy hill near a small lake, waiting for my friends to come back. Marth had elected to stay with me after the others laid their plans out. I was grateful that he was staying with me, although I when I would be around Marth I experienced these weird feelings that made me smile, and that confused the heck out of me.

Marth looked around the area. "I don't see anyone... Did they get into fights or did they get lost?"

I put my phone down due to the heavy interference I was experiencing and began to stretch. "I have no idea. We don't have tracking devices on them, so we might as well say that half of them are lost and half of them are currently fighting as we speak."

Marth nodded. "So what do we do?"

"We awkwardly wait until someone comes back," I muttered as I shook my phone. The interference was still there.

Marth take a hold of my phone and held it higher as he walked around. I was wondering what he was doing when it hit me. He was trying to see if he get a better signal. Then I smiled, glad that he was trying to help me.

Marth noticed my staring and playfully winked at me. Instead of making a face at him, I smiled and winked as my heart skipped a beat, and I was momentarily confused.

What is this I'm feeling? I asked myself. It's weird...

"Mariposa, would you stop flirting with your boyfriend and get back to work?" Link yelled as he walked up towards us, smirking a bit.

I threw a ninja star at his head, but he ducked and avoided it completely. "Don't call me that! And quit saying that Marth is my boyfriend! We're only friends!"

Marth rested a hand on my shoulder. "Isabela, calm down."

Link surrendered his hands up. "Sorry... Couldn't help myself."

I sighed in frustration. "Don't do it again."

Link sat down next to us. "I couldn't find anything, so I came back. Any luck?"

"No," Marth and I replied in unison.

Link laughed. "You guys are a cute couple, especially when you saw stuff together."

Marth looked embarrassed and didn't look at Link or me. I, however, attempted to kick Link's shin, but he picked his leg up, so I wound up hitting the air, causing me frustration.

"Calm down Isa..." Link said. He gently put his left hand on my right shoulder. "It's-"

Pain seared from my right shoulder.

I gasped in agony and stumbled backwards into Marth, who proceeded to grab me to prevent myself from fainting. My vision went blurry, and I swear I could hear Link and Marth trying to talk to me, but I couldn't hear their voices.

After what seemed like several minutes, I slowly opened my eyes. Link and Marth were looking at me, and once I blinked, they seemed to relax.

"What happened?" Marth asked.

I looked at my arm. "Link touched Runi's seal on my arm." I rolled my sleeve up, showing them it.

It was a black Chinese dragon with red eyes. It covered one side my tricep. It looked smaller though, like Link had removed it...

Marth gently touched it, but I didn't feel any pain. "That's a seal?"

I nodded. "Certain spells, when cast, tend to leave marks of proof on the victim's body. The placing is random, though. The seal can break if enough power of a certain type breaks it. My brother broke part of the tail-" I pointed to the broken tail, "-and my power came back. Link touched it with the hand that has the Triforce symbol, and he broke several of the scales, meaning that I can use more of my power without fainting."

Link thought this over. "Does Runi know about this?"

"No."

Link nodded. "I don't know if I should be relieved about it or be concerned that he doesn't really know what he is doing."

"Be concerned about what?" Zelda asked. The others had returned, and from the looks of it, no one got into a fight.

Link turned to Zelda. "I was asking if I should be concerned or not-"

Zelda nodded. "Already heard the rest, Link. I returned because I felt a spike of magical energy appear here. What happened?"

Marth pointed to me. "Link broke part of Isa's seal, so now she can use more of her power."

Everyone blinked. "How?"

I sighed. "He used the hand that had the Triforce and touched my shoulder-"

Zelda inspected my seal, and has her Triforce hand brushed the seal, I blacked out.

Upon waking up, I noticed that I had fallen on my side and that everyone was turned away from me. Groaning, I tried to get up. Marth noticed my movement and helped me up. After whispering, "Gracias," I looked in the direction that everyone was facing, and I nearly fell down again.

Palutena was looking at us, and she was floating a bit above the air, making her seem taller than she was. She had a smile on her face and a tight grip on her scepter.

"Am I hallucinating?" I whispered to Marth.

Marth shook his head. "No... She's really here..."

"What for? I thought she was in the Manor..."

Palutena smiled to us. "I'm here for 'Divine Intervention'."

Link face palmed and Pit seemed to twitch slightly. Dark Pit gave a grin, and I sighed.

"You mean you're here to check on our progress," Zelda piped up.

Palutena smiled. "Yes." She raised her scepter. "Mind if I battle you guys?"

Pit, Dark Pit, and Diana stepped up. "We'll battle you guys," Pit declared as he pulled his bow out.

Marth hugged me tightly as he moved backwards. "Don't interfere," he whispered.

"I can barely move," I replied.

Marth smiled. "Just double checking."

"Of course the beloved prince would do that," I replied.

"You can flirt with him later, Isa!" Zelda hissed. "Keep an eye on the battle!"

I shot her a glare but did as she ordered me to do. The fight was in Palutena's favor. Diana was losing horribly, but Pit and Dark were able to land hits on Palutena.

"This isn't good," Mizuneko stated.

"She's a goddess," Link pointed out. "Of course she would win."

Pit aimed several arrows and shot them at Palutena. Dark Pit dashed up to her and began to punch her. Diana aimed her bow, but Palutena swatted her to the side, where she collided into a tree.

"One down," Palutena taunted.

My mind snapped into focus and I could now stand. Gently pushing Marth off of me, I whipped my knife out and dashed to Palutena.

"Isa!" Marth yelled. "You're not a 100 percent right now! Fall back!"

I ignored Marth and slashed at Palutena. She turned and sent fire at me.

I was too slow to react, and I was sent flying into the forest.

Owowow! I thought as I crashed onto the ground.

Pain flared up in my right leg. I grabbed it. I attempted to get up, but the pain was too much.

Marusu-chan was right... I thought miserably. I was too impulsive...

"Isa!" Marth yelled as he ran into the clearing. I slowly tried to get up again, but I fell again.

Marth kneeled to the ground. "Are you alright?"

I shook my head. "My leg..."

Marth looked concerned. He gently grabbed my arms and hoisted me up. As this happened, a dizzy spell came over me, and I had to grab him to prevent myself from falling.

Marth made me lean against him for support due to my wounded leg. "Careful, Butterfly."

"I feel like a zombie..." I muttered after we began to walk back to the others. My leg began to wobble, so Marth scooped me up and began to hold me bridal style. I screamed and began to pound on his chest, which apparently failed, as he kept walking. Marth laughed. "Come on, let's rejoin the others. They probably went ballistic about you being impulsive again."

"Right," I admitted,

By this point, we had reached the edge of the trees. Pit and Dark Pit ran to us.

"Are you guys okay?" Pit asked.

"Your left leg's bleeding," Dark Pit pointed out.

"It is?" I asked. I took a look at my leg and noticed the nasty cut in it.

Dark Pit face palmed. "You didn't notice?! That's irresponsible of you!"

Pit shook his head. "This is Isa we're talking about. And it's also possible that she doesn't feel pain."

"Ow," I muttered sarcastically.

Pit sighed. "You're crazy, Isa." With that, he turned around and led us to the others.
