Ace: I changed Isa's name... Again. She's still Isa. Except her name is Isabela Xiuhcoatl Lobo. Xiuhcoatl is Nahuatl for "weapon of destruction" (also "turquoise serpent,"according to Wikipedia, but no other site says this) or "fire serpent" while Lobo is Spanish for "wolf" (although it's the male version, but it's her family name). I find it funny, as Marth's last name, Lowell, means "wolf cub" (Or "dearly loved, in some cases) and Link turns into a wolf...

Disclaimer: I do not own Super Smash Bros.

Chapter 22: Confusion

Marth

"Mom? Dad?"

My parents were walking fast ahead with my sister. I had stopped to quickly glance at a toy, but now I couldn't catch up. I tried to run after them, but they blended into the crowd.

"Mom! Dad! Elice!"

I had been left behind. Alone. Forgotten. A teardrop cascaded down my cheek and onto the ground.

I tried to see where I was, but this was my first time in this particular amusement park. I didn't know where I could go for help.

I sniffled a little. I really wanted to find my parents and go home.

A little girl walked by. She had short blonde hair with adorable blue eyes. She had on a Belle t-shirt and blue shorts on. In her hands was a non-bitten Mickey bar. She looked at me and smiled.

"Hi!"

I blinked. "H-hello."

"Do you come here often?"

"N-no. This is first time here..."

The adorable little girl smiled. "This is the second time I've been here!"

"Can you show me around?" I asked nervously, desperately wanting to go home.

She smiled. "As soon as my mommy is finished talking."

I suddenly realized that I was having a lovely conversation with a girl that I didn't "I-I didn't get your name..."

She smiled."My name is Isabela Lobo! What's your name?"

I stared at her. She was so adorable. She reminded me of the Disney Princesses. I blinked again and answered.

"Marth. Marth Lowell."

Isabela smiled and stuck her hand out. "Nice to meet ya."

I smiled. "The pleasure is all mine." I gently shook her hand.

The memory faded. I slowly opened my eyes and sat up. It had been a while since I remembered that day. Oddly enough, that was only a small part of that day...

I looked around to get a bearing of my surroundings. I was in a forest, and my friends were asleep. Comically, Link looked ready to fall out of the tree he was in, as he was slanted to one side of the branch. Smirking, I looked around to see where Isa was to talk about the memory, as I was a bit concerned about it.

Except I couldn't find her.

I bolted out of my sleeping bag. Where did she go? Was she kidnapped by Spiro? Why didn't she ask for help? Did Lila kidnap her? What if Seth had killed her? What if a monster killed her? What if she accidentally drowned? Did Isa run away? Why would she run away? Did Link kidnap her as a joke? Did Shadow Link get a hold of her? Did she kill Runi? What if she fell off of a cliff and died? What if she fell off of a cliff but survived? Did Palutena kidnap her? Did Ghirahim kidnap her? Did Ghirahim kill her? Did Isa kill Ghirahim? Or did they kill each other?

I had to push my thoughts to the side. If I wanted to find Isa, then I had to focus on doing that, not worrying myself to death.

I slowed my breathing and slowly walked out of the clearing. As soon as I was out of Link's superior hearing zone, I began to breath normally and looked at my surroundings, trying to find any clues or signs that Isa had left behind. As it was dark, I couldn't exactly see anything, so I fumbled for my flashlight in my messenger bag.

I was so distracted that I didn't notice anything unusual until two strong arms shot out and grabbed me. I yelped and furiously clawed at the hand that was around eyes. A wicked cackle echoed, and I groaned.

"Really Link?" I hissed as I elbowed him in the stomach.

"Ow!" He mumbled as he let go. "That hurt."

"Shut up. That won't leave a bruise."

"True," my friend grinned.

"Why did you follow me?"

"I wanted to see what you were doing. I thought that you would be making out with your girlfriend."

I glared at him. "I can't find Isa. And if we were both up, I wanted to talk to her about something I saw in a dream."

"You mean your wedding?"

If it wasn't for the fact that it was dark, I would have slugged Link instead of swinging at air and spinning around awkwardly in a circle. Link chuckled. "Nice try."

"Shut up."

"Marth? Link?"

I looked behind Link. "Chrom? What are you doing up?"

He shrugged. "Nothing much, other than a bad dream."

I found my flashlight. "Well, I'm going to look for Isa. You guys can do whatever you want."

"M-Isa's missing?" Chrom asked, shocked.

I looked at him. "Misa?"

"Uh..." Chrom didn't know how to respond. "It was an accident?"

"You're lying," Link and I stated at the exact time. Chrom flinched.

"Yeah..."

Something was up with Chrom. He looked at lot like me, he acted like me, and Isa knew something about him, which made me wonder how far in the future he was from. But I'll worry about it later, as soon as I could find Isa.

"Talking around won't really help us find Isa," I stated.

"Yes. But finding footprints do," Link replied.

"What?" My flashlight pointed downwards, and sure enough, there were footprints on the ground.

Link chuckled at my stunned expression. With that, we began to follow the footprints using my flashlight for light.

"Why," Link began, "would Isa leave without her beloved boyfriend?"

I shot him a look. "I just asked her to go on a date with me later. That's it."

"Same thing," he replied.

"No, it's not!"

"It kind of is."

"To answer your question, she probably wanted to see something and knew that she would return," Chrom interjected before I could yell at Link.

I looked at him. "And you know this...?"

Chrom shut his mouth and looked at his feet. I'm definitely interrogating him later.

Link had suddenly stopped, and Chrom and I walked straight in to him. Before I could yell at him for stopping randomly, I saw we had completely left the forest. The castle with the maze loomed before us, although the maze was far away.

"The heck?" Chrom muttered.

Link seemed very angry. "This entire time... There was a side path? We almost got killed in the maze while there was a side path!" He gritted his teeth and clenched his fists.

Runi gets lost too easily. He always makes shortcuts to make sure that he doesn't lose his prey... Isa's voice whispered in my mind, although I've never heard her say that before.

"So... Is this how Runi gets to his castle?" I asked.

"Maybe..." Link replied.

"Where's Misa?" Chrom asked.

"I don't know," I replied.

An evil grin spread across Link's face. I suddenly got worried. "What are you thinking about this time?"

"I finally got your shipping name."

"Pardon?" I raised an eyebrow. The Hylian laughed.

"Your relationship with Isa. You're now officially Misa."

"Oh dear Lord..." I muttered as I face palmed.

Chrom nodded. "That is something to be expected from the Hylian Hero."

"You're not helping, Chrom," I replied.

Link laughed. "Now let's go find your pyscho girlfriend."

Chrom frowned. "How is she pyscho?" He interjected before I could strangle my friend.

"She plays those creepy horror games like Slender, Amnesia, Silent Hill, the Haunted Mansion video game, and Five Nights at Freddy's, among other stuff. Isa is also into horror stuff and tells horrifying stories, and she is learning to be assassin and a ninja. How is that not pyscho?"

"You know it's rude to talk about people behind their backs," a feminine voice snapped.

We all jumped. I turned around and grabbed Isa in a crushing embrace. "Isa! H-how long have you been standing there?!"

"¡Auxilio! ¡No puedo respirar!" Isa cried out.

I let go. "Are you alright?"

She coughed. "Other than that death hug, I'm fine. And for your information, Señorito Enlace*, I was born on Halloween. Of course I would be into scary stuff like that. And I've been here since Chrom called Link the Hylian Hero."

"Your birthday is on Halloween?" Link and I asked.

She nodded. "Yes. One of my first toys was a spider. Another was an R2-D2."

"Interesting," Link replied. "So the power couple Misa can throw lavish Halloween parties, considering that the female likes Halloween and the other could host said lavish party."

"Say what now?" Isa asked, bewildered.

I sighed. "Link is referring to us as "Misa," because Chrom forgot your name."

Isa nodded. Then she swung her hand and hit Link on the shoulder. "That's not funny!" Isa then took a breath. "Look, enough about that. I found the entrance to the castle. Are the others coming?"

"We're here," Ike replied as the others entered the clearing. They all looked exhausted, and had our items. I felt relieved that the others caught up.

Isa nodded. "Great. Now let's storm the castle."

We all followed the path towards the front. Nothing was said until we reached the front and saw the drawbridge.

"Damnit," Roy cursed. "How the hell are we supposed to enter?"

We all pondered that. Diana turned to Dark Pit. "Dark Pit. Pit."

"What?" Dark Pit snapped. The others looked at Diana.

"See those two chains that are holding the bridge up?"

Pit nodded. Dark Pit sighed. "Yeah. So?" Link and Sheik, however, pulled their projectile weapons out once they realized what Diana was trying to say and shot at the chains, breaking them.

Diana sighed. "I was telling you guys to shoot the chains to make the bridge fall down!"

"Why didn't you say so?" Dark Pit growled.

"That was what I was implying, Pitto!"

Dark Pit snapped. "Don't call me that!"

"Why not?" Diana pouted.

Zelda stood between them. "Stop arguing and get to work. We can fight about that later."

Diana and Dark Pit glared at each other. Isa bit her lip and laid her head on my shoulder.*

"Something wrong?" I asked.

She lifted her head as I wrapped an arm around her. "Just... Bad memories watching these two..."

I nodded.

Link stamped his foot impatiently. "We can worry about this later. Let's go and get through with this."

We all followed Link into the castle. The courtyard was rather... Cramped, as there was stuff littered everywhere in no particular order whatsoever. It annoyed me, but there wasn't much that I could do about it.

Isa scanned the area. "Mala suerte..."

"What's bad luck here?" I asked.

She hunched her shoulders in. "This looks like exactly like... That castle..."

"What castle?"

"You mean the one you got locked up in?" Chrom asked as he joined us.

"What?!"

Isa shot Chrom a look. "Listen, kiddo. I do not like talking about that. ¿Entiendes?"

Chrom looked a bit.. Confused, but he nodded his head. I raised an eyebrow. "You just called him kiddo."

"He's from the future, so that means that he is younger than us. I always call younger people kiddo or chico."

I sighed. "If you say so..." But I wanted to know about the castle Chrom was talking about. Before I could ask, we reached yet another set of doors.

Roy pushed it. "Looks like there's no lock."

"That's strange," Sheik commented. "One would think that they had better defenses if this is their hiding spot."

Ike pulled his sword out. "Let's not push our luck..."

We all pulled some sort of weapon out and entered the doors. I didn't really like this room, as it was dark, damp, and smelled horrible.

"I can't see a damn thing," Ike muttered before he smacked into something. "Watch where you going, idiot," came Dark Pit's angry response before he shoved Ike.

"Ouch!" Isa yelled.

Click!

We all covered our eyes as the light assaulted us. After about a minute, we lowered our hands and looked around.

"That hurt!"

We all looked at Isa, who was standing near a light switch. She was too busy swearing to notice.

"What happened?" I asked.

"I tripped in the dark and hit the light switch."

"Why is there a light switch?" Dark Pit sighed. "A lever or switch would make more sense."

"You mean like this one?" Diana pointed to the wall nearby Isa. She walked over and hit it, causing one of the walls to disappear, showing a passageway that reminded me of a dungeon.

"Yeah..."

Ike walked over to the passageway. "Come on peoples. Let's move it before we could distracted again with exposition."

We all walked towards the opening. After we passed through, it shut behind us.

"There goes the escape route," Sheik muttered.

"There are other ways out," Diana hissed. "We need to move before they realize that we're here."

Link pulled his flashlight out and led the way. This route was dark, and definitely less damp than the previous room. I walked behind Link and Zelda. Ike, Roy, Pit, Sheik, Diana, Chrom, and Dark Pit were behind me. Isa was in the rear, glancing around the place.

Pit shuddered. "It's so cold... I wonder if Lady Palutena could help guide us..."

"We don't need her," Dark Pit muttered as he elbowed Pit.

"Why not?" The angel pouted.

"Because she's weak."

"Don't talk about her like that!" Pit shouted.

"Why not?"

"Because she's helped saved humanity!"

"Weren't you the one who actually fought her enemies and did her dirty work?"

"Oi, Tweddle Dee! Tweddle Dum!" Isa snapped before Pit could respond. "Shut up before I take my duck tape out and stick you two to the wall!"

That stopped both angels (and the rest of the group). "I'm sorry?" They asked angrily at the same time.

"You know, Tweddle Dee and Tweddle Dum from Alice in Wonderland?"

"We have no idea what that is," they responded.

Isa face palmed. "Really? You fon't know what that is?"

Both boys nodded. "And which one is Dum?!"

Isa give them a smug look. "I'm not telling."

"Isabela!" They both yelled.

Zelda giggled. "I wish I had this on video."

Roy laughed. "What do you think I'm doing?" He then ended the video. "Let's go."

We pressed forward in silence. Or rather, 7 of us were silent. Pit and Dark Pit kept grumbling and shooting daggers at Isa, who kept giggling, and that in turn made me laugh a little, as I've never seen Pit or Dark Pit agree on anything.

Link stopped suddenly, and I crashed into him. "Do you hear that?"

"Hear what?" I replied.

"I heard a small click."

"Me too," Zelda replied.

"It's probably nothing," Diana replied. "Maybe-"

That was when everything went wrong. The room shook, and we all fell down. Before we could figure out what was going on, a giant door fell behind us, and some dust fell from the ceiling.

"I-Is everyone okay?" Link coughed.

"Let's so who's here..." Sheik muttered. She quickly counted us off, but then began to swear.

"Damnit, Isa's not here!"

"I'm on the other side!" Isa yelled from behind the door.

"Are you alright?" I asked.

"Yes!" She responded.

Sirens went off. The hallway turned red with flashing lights, and doors began to open.

"We need to get out of here now!" Ike yelled.

"What about Isa?" Pit asked. "We can't leave her!"

"I'll regroup with you!" She yelled. "Suerte!"

Link nodded. "Let's go!" With that, we raced off, attacking enemies left and right.

Preview for chapter 23:

Isa

I began to laugh as I crawled through the air vent. Another attempt to catch me has failed. Now to find my friends...

"Move it!" Spiro yelled.

I froze and looked to me left. I could see through the air vent, but it was on the ground, so part of my view was blocked.

Spiro couldn't see me though. He was too busy yelling at the Primids. They seemed to have prisoners. From the angle I was, I couldn't tell who they were.

"I said move it!" He kicked one of the prisoners, but they didn't fall.

"Te voy a matar!" A familiar voice yelled. My body froze, and chills went down my spine.

Please let that be someone else, I prayed. Please, please let that be someone else.

"What did you say?" Spiro snapped.

"Javier just said, "I'm going to kill you," Another familiar voice replied coolly.

Spiro looked angry. "You know what, Valentín? Forget it. I'm going to kill your brother right now, and then force you to kill your own sister Isa when I find her!"

Ace: Sorry for the cliffhanger. And the scene from the next chapter potentially ending horribly. And I renamed Isa's brothers too. Javier is Isa's twin (originally named Shiro). Valentín was once Hiro. Etc.

I'm planning on rewritting WOS. Part of it doesn't make sense to me, so I'm editing it so that it flows better and makes sense. Noticeable parts that will remain:

-The group will more or less be the same, although Shulk will join them as part of the cast and they will actually speak more in the story instead of standing around will Isa does something dangerous or stupid

- Isa and Runi's rivalry/hatred, and that will be explored more

- The plot in general, with major additions and cuts

Changes/Additions:

- How Isa met Roy will be explained

- Takahiro (who is actually alive) will merely be Isa's friend, not her brother

- The introduction in the gym will be replaced with a different event

- The Smashers will raid Isa's room more frequently

- Palutena's battle will be replaced... with advice... and Viridi might appear...

There will be more changes, but those are the major ones that I wanted to point out. I'm also considering more pairings to add in, so I will a few suggestions in(it can be between anybody, but preferably those who are featured most of the time), although the Isa x Marth will stay.

The rewrite will be done when chapter 23 is released.

Notes:

¡Auxilio! ¡No puedo respirar!- Help! I can't breath!

Señorito Enlace- Little Mr. Link

*Isa is thinking about Reaper, a character who will be featured in the rewrite, and who conveniently doesn't get along with her at all, and Isa is merely remembering a particularly heated argument that nearly destroyed the factory nearby (long story). And she also thinks of her brothers fighting too...

Until next time!
