"You can't let that man throw your confidence like this" Connie repeated as she walked over to her desk and sat down, looking Zoe directly in the eyes so that she could make eye contact with her.

Zoe looked at her, taking a deep breath before she started to speak "What, so I'm supposed to be happy that he's turned up? Accept his apology and pretend this never happened?" she shot back at her colleague, motioning to her crutches that were leaning against the wall near to her desk.

"I never said that" Connie replied simply "You have every right to hate that man's guts if you want to, I certainly wouldn't blame you. But…since he turned up here you haven't been yourself" with a small smile she added "I never thought that I would say this, but at times I miss the drama and attitude that you bring to this place! That isn't a challenge, by the way"

The man sat on a wooden bench in the park that was only a 10 minute walk away from the hospital, fuming. How dare that woman speak to him like that, threatening him with security guards and the police? And as for her, he had been to apologize to Zoe, in an attempt to show that he regretted what he had done and what he had let himself be a part of. Yet she had thrown it back in his face!

Now he wasn't so sure he regretted what he had done, she should be grateful that he had stopped them from doing more!

Zoe glanced over to Connie, returning the smile briefly before starting to laugh, causing her colleague to look at her quizzically "I don't think you would have said that if you had known me a few years ago! I would have been much more of a threat to your authority then!"

The clinical lead half smiled back at her and raised an eyebrow "Just so long as you're planning on causing any trouble nowadays…seriously, though. You have to find a way to work through this, Zoe. By whatever means necessary and I will be with you every step of the way. As will the rest of the department"
