Nathan Charles and Luna Fang: Into the Dragon Realms
By Mutitoon90
Chapter Eleven
The saucer-shaped aircraft returned to the ground, thanks to the aid of the dragons, and Nathan, Crash, Spyro and Sparx carried the sleeping Ripto to the awaiting claws of the Dragon Elders. All of the Elders were wise, as expected by Nathan and the others, and understandingly concerned about Ripto's latest plot to take control of the Dragon Realms, however they also confessed that their concerns rose to a new level, when they heard about humans in the Dragon Realms, especially since humans were the reason why dragons had to resort to creating a magical realm.
Nathan was slightly shocked, since he knew that his kind, the humans, had a 'bad habit,' as he would put it, of attacking creatures out of fear and envy, if not out of carelessness. He knew that he had developed a thirst for the knowledge the elders had, and he would have requested to hear more, but Nathan had a more pressing matter: Luna.
Hurrying to one of his 'dearest friends,' as Nathan would state his relationship between himself and Luna, the dark haired human returned to the Professor's laboratory. Crash, Spyro and Sparx followed the human, who was going much faster than they had expected him to go, yet it was not a complete surprise to the three; the Bandicoot was the least surprised of all, since Crash was asked by Crunch about the relationship between the human and the werewolf. The answer that Crash told Crunch: "Nathan likes to think that he sees Luna as a buddy both in war and peace, but I know he wants more from Luna than her loyality."
Chuckling in the same manner as he had told his answer to Crunch, Crash could tell that Luna was not going to lose Nathan so easily to any other female, whether the woman was a mere human or a creature-like being. The other thing standing between Nathan's confession of his true feelings to Luna and Luna's accepting and returning the feelings was the dark haired male's unwillingness to believe that he was in love with Luna, however all of them on Wumpa Island knew that Nathan's own father was the one responsible for it; how he did it was an answer that Nathan would not answer openly to just anyone.
Soon, the group reached the lab, and they were greeted at the door by Agent Nine, who was still somewhat dazed by his failed assault against Ripto, and Hunter, who was trying to catch up with the escpaed monkey. Nathan was able to catch the primate by grabbing the collar of his suit, and Agent Nine, soon, found himself lying on his back.
"Thanks for catching him, Nathan..." A nearly breathless Hunter panted out as he reached Nathan, "He escaped from the lab, when the Professor told him to stay there and rest."
"Not a problem." The human replied friendfully as he looked at the cheetah, and his face quickly started to express worry on his face as he asked, "How's Luna?"
"I honestly don't know." Hunter answered with a sigh, "If I were you, I'd go to Bianca and Elora; they know the situation better than I do."
"Thank you, Hunter." The human nodded to the human-like feline and ran off, and his best friend followed Nathan with the purple dragon and the yellow dragonfly, leaving Hunter to deal with Agent Nine once more.
Traveling deeper into the labortory, the group of four reached Bianca and Elora, and with the two females were Blick and the Professor, who was wearing a white lab coat and small glasses. Seeing the moles and the females did nothing to ease Nathan's mind and caused the human to became even more worried.
"How is Luna?" Nathan turned his direction and attention to Bianca, who had a remorseful expression on her face.
"Elora?" Nathan turned to the faun, who looked like she was mentally wishing that she did not have to tell Nathan the news she had.
"Is she...?" Nathan started to asked, but he could not bring himself to complete it in fear that the recieving reply was bad.
"Don't worry!" Blink was quick to speak in an attempt to calm the human, "Luna's still alive and breathing."
That statement eased Nathan's worries about Luna being alive, but he still was worried about Luna and what Sash might do to him for failing.
"Maybe," the Professor quietly suggested to the human, "you might want to see her."
A moment passed before Nathan answered in a meek manner: "Yes..."
"Then, follow me..." The Professor walked off, and the foursome obeyed, truly worried about what they might see.
The walk lasted for a few moments, but it felt much longer than that, espeically Nathan, who was the most concerned about Luna.
Soon, Nathan saw Luna's sleeping form, and he nearly lost control of his emotions. Seeing Luna sleeping, like Snow White, only told the human that he had failed in preventing Ripto's spell from completing.
Then, a furry hand placed itself onto Nathan's shoulder, pulling the depressed human from his own depressing thoughts. Nathan saw that Crash was trying to comfort him, and that helped a little, causing the human to smile weakly.
"Thanks, Crash." Nathan managed to smile for a few more moments before it vanished from his face.
"No problem." Crash returned a smile, and then he added, "Go on."
Nathan only nodded before he turned to Luna's form once more and made his way towards her, still trying to control his emotions, however he failed as the hot tears ran down his face, which Nathan rarely felt.
Once he reached Luna's sleeping form, Nathan wept as he quietly said, "I'm sorry." Repeating himself a few more times, the tears fell from his nearly closed eyes, and some of the tears landed on Luna's face, causing something unexpected...
Apparently, the falling, warm tears were enough to awaken Luna from her slumber with a loud yawn, and that surprised everyone in the room, including Nathan, and the human recovered from the shock before he became angry at the werewolf, who was rubbing her eyes.
"That was a nice nap," Luna stretched her arms into the air, feeling refreshed from the sleep, "I feel like I've slept like Briar Rose."
Nathan, who was infuriated at first, calmed down and freed a sigh, realizing that Luna was not trying to trick him into kissing her. With a relieved smile, the dark haired male spoke to the she-wolf.
"Are you okay, Luna?"
Hearing Nathan's voice was a mild and pleasant surprise to the werewolf, and she smiled at him and said with a wide smile on her, "Better than ever!"
Then, she swiftly leapt up and embraced Nathan, causing the both of them to fall down onto the floor. The seven others, who watched this, laughed loudly, and the laughter grew loudly as Luna started kissing Nathan on the face.
Hours following Luna's awakening, the portal between the Wumpa Islands and the Dragon Realms was reopened and conneted, thanks to the Professor and his second Super Portal, and a huge party was initiated to celebrate Ripto's defeat and to promote a long time of peace in the Dragon Realms. The party was also to promote a long friendship between the magical realms and the three little islands that sat southwest from the country of Australia.
Every creature from both realms danced, talked, drank and/or ate, and most of them enjoyed the feastival. Dragons had to be careful about where they step, and some of those that reside on the Wumpa Islands had to be careful of what they say to their hosts, especially since dragons can breathe fire.
Nathan sat on a blouder and watching his friends, both old and new, enjoying themselves after defeating the villians. However, the human did not see much reason to celebrate, since Nina, his younger cousin, had managed to free herself from her restraints and the realm.
"Nathan?"
The human's head turned side to side for a moment until he saw the person that called his name: Tsukiko, Luna's older cousin.
"Sash," Nathan addressed the miko-werewolf with a tone of surprise in his voice, "what are you doing here with me?"
"What's wrong, Nathan?" The silver she-wolf grinned mischieviously, "Worried that Luna would get jealous?"
"Hardly." Nathan frowned sharply at the half-changed werewolf, "You know better than me that Luna's not the envious type."
Giggling a little, the miko replied to the statement, "You're right about that." Then, she recovered quickly and spoke in a more stern voice, "Now, what's wrong? You're not showing that you're having a good time."
"To be honest," the human male answered, sounding somewhat relieved about someone asking about his concerns, "I don't feel like that I should be having fun at all, since Nina escaped."
"Oh!" Sash mused at the topic of the conversation, "Her... I've heard about how you defeated her from Agent Nine, and the story of how 'he' found and rescued the Professor, which is annoying Hunter greatly. Well, I wouldn't feel to bad about that; after all, you helped in stopping her and Ripto from taking control of the Dragon Realms and rescued Luna from sleeping forever."
"I know," the young man rose from the blouder and placed his feet onto the ground, "but Nina escaped and is, without a single doubt, planning her next attack against me! I can't seem to be able to enjoy myself with the others!"
"I know that you feel that way," Sash responsed sweetly in a manner that would be used by an older sister, "but what is the fun of fighting off the villians if one doesn't enjoy the victory?"
"What do you mean?"
The silver werewolf gave her answer with a kind grin, saying, "If one fails to see that there's more to life than going from one fight to another, one would had themselves only surviving the world, not living life."
Sighing out in what appeared to be defeat, Nathan smiled gratefully and said to the cousin of Luna, "Thanks for the advice."
"Not a problem." Tsukiko nodded to the male, who was smiling more, "And should you have any more problems, whether or not if it's about Luna, you can tell me."
"Thanks again." Nathan nodded before he tried to go off to the party.
"One more thing," Sash spoke up once more, "don't forget that there's a whole group of others that you can talk to, and that group includes Luna."
"Thanks again!" Nathan waved at the miko before entering the party to enjoy the festive mood and his life with his friends.
Sash looked on and saw Nathan approached Luna, who was pleasantly surprised about the human's willingness to ask her for a dance, which Luna accepted. With a sigh, Sash stuck out the tip of her tonuge at the thought in her head: If Luna ever dicovered that she, Sash, was the one who was playing the matchmaker in Luna's lovelife, would the brunette werewolf be angry about Sash involving herself in her romantic life, or would she be jovial about Sash helping her out in trying to convince Nathan to go out with her.
Recalling that Luna, at one point at her life, was like a coin, the brunette used to be likely than not to be one way than the other. However, Sash knew that Luna had grown up over the years, and Nathan was the man to get Luna on the right path. Also, Sash had to agree with Luna when she mentioned that Nathan was too much on the shy side, and that he needs a little push every now and again.
Impressed that how both Nathan and Luna had changed since the day they met, Sash felt more in peace than she had for a long time. With a smile on her face, Sash re-entered the party to join the others in their merrymaking, although she had a strong feeling that Nathan and Luna were likely to make some of their own 'merrymaking.'
The kiss that they shared an hour before the party died out was enough proof for the miko werewolf, who kept a close eye on the both of them for most of the party. Although, she was mistaken on the extent, Sash was relieved that Nathan decided to make a move towards Luna.
"How odd..." The silver haired she-wolf mused to herself, "It takes something, like Luna being cursed, that would make Nathan show more of his feelings. Then again, times of trouble are usually times when people show who they really are."
