"It'll be alright, hun" he said, pulling her close, "it'll be alright"

A quiet knock on the door roused Scorpius from where he'd dosed off. He quietly rearranged Rose so she was sleeping on an actual pillow instead of her human substitute, and opened the door. Hermione beckoned him outside.

"How is she?" she asked quietly, her voice full of concern.

"She's asleep. She was ok when she fell asleep, just very tired by today I think" he said.

"Hugo came and saw me once he followed you two through from the Shed and saw Rose burst into tears" Hermione explained. "He was a little hurt that he hadn't been told about what that McLaggen boy did to her before last night's outburst, but I can understand why she didn't tell anyone"

"Just so I make it clear, I didn't force her to tell me" Scorpius said. "I was worried some people might come to that conclusion, but really I only found out because the nightmares she had woke me up too and she felt she had to explain"

"It's alright, no one leapt to that conclusion" she smiled. "I'm just glad she told someone, if she'd kept it bottled up it would have been worse"

"Mrs Wealsey.."

"Hermione" she corrected with a smile.

"Hermione" he smiled slightly, "I was wondering, I know that we were meant to stay here for the entire break but I think Rose might want a break away from everyone" he said. "I haven't spoken to her about it yet, but I was thinking that maybe we could stay at your house on the Isle of Wight for a night or two?"

"I'll have to talk to Ron" she nodded, "and you have to speak to Rose, but that might be a nice idea. You'll have to stay here tonight as it's too late to change plans now, but maybe tomorrow you two can go off for a couple of nights." She stopped talking as the dorr opened behind Scorpius. Rose appeared, rubbing her swollen red eyes, her make-up running in different directions down her face and her hair a tangled mess.

"Hi Mum" was all she said as she leant into Scorpius' side.

"Hi honey" Hermione smiled gently. "Hugh came and spoke to me, are you ok?"

"I'm fine Mum, just tired" Rose replied, yawning as she spoke. "I'm sorry I didn't tell anyone before, but I couldn't"

"We all understand, hun, it was just a bit of a shock" Hermione leant in to hug her daughter. Rose let go of Scorpius and hugged her mother.

"I'm sorry" Rose said again, a tear slipping down her cheek.

"Now, no more of that" Hermione wiped the tear away. "Scorpius has just suggested that maybe the two of you go and stay at the Cottage for a couple of nights if you want to get away from everyone"

"That'd be nice, but maybe tomorrow" Rose nodded. "It won't do us any good if I run away, and I'm sure more people want to talk about what happened with McLaggen"

"Honey, you don't have to tell anyone anything" Hermione said. "Your father was upset, yes, but I spoke to him about it last night and he doesn't want to hear any more about it, I think he wants to try and forget it" she said softly.

"So do we, mum" Rose said, returning back to Scorpius' side, where he wrapped an arm around her. "Maybe tomorrow night then"

"Ok. I'll talk to your Dad first, check he's ok about it, but I'm happy. Well, we're just about to have hot chocolate downstairs, so why don't you go join everyone, Scorpius. I want a quick word with Rose a minute"

"See you in a second" Rose said, kissing his cheek then giving him a gentle push towards the stairs.

Rose appeared 15 minutes later, her face flushed and her eyes on the floor.

"You ok?" Scorpius asked.

"Yeah, Mum was just beating Dad to the Talk" Rose muttered as he handed her a mug of hot chocolate. Scorpius spluttered on his drink and Al leant over to pat his back as Rose laughed at her boyfriend.

"You ok, man?" Al asked, quirking an eyebrow.

"Yep, all good" Scorpius cleared his throat, "Rose just... never mind" he said, glaring at the girl in question, who was holding her sides from laughter.

"Ok then" Al said before returning to his conversation with Hugo and Louis.

"I see you don't need clarification on which talk she just gave me" Rose grinned as she repositioned herself in his lap.

"Does she really think we need reminding? Its not as if we want any more surprises" Scorpius grinned.

"That doesn't mean I don't want any repeats of last night" Rose smirked as Scorpius coughed on his drink again. He held up a hand to tell Al it was just a cough but Rose couldn't help but slide a sneaky grin his way.

"How about a normal conversation that means I can have less hot chocolate up my nose?" Scorpius suggested.

"Ok, I'll give in for now, but tomorrow night you're mine" Rose said quietly before jumping up an going to sit with Lily and the other girls, who immediately all formed a close circle around Rose. Scorpius finished his drink in peace, and when a while later Nana Weasley announced that they should probably go to bed, Rose led Scorpius up to the Upstairs with the rest of the Weasley Poter grandchildren in tow.

"Girls sleep in here, boys floo through to the Shed" she explained as the boys trooped through the fireplace. "But I spoke to Mum and for tonight I'm joining you and the boys"

"You can't be serious" James cried as the pair stepped through the fire.

"Yep, take it up with my Mum if you're not happy" Rose glowered as she pulled a couple of beanbags over to the fireside for her and Scorpius. The other boys were charming their beanbags to make them bigger, but Scorpius flicked his wand at their beanbags and they came together to form a giant mattress. Rose quickly snagged a couple of sleeping bags off of Fred and laid them out on their mattress, before pulling Scorpius down to lie next to her. Just as he pulled the sleeping bag over the top of them, he found 5 wands pointing in his face.

"Just to make it clear" Al said, twiddling his wand in his hand, "Touch her tonight in any way other than that arm around her waist and you will find various body parts removed in the morning"

"I'm not an idiot" Scorpius rolled his eyes. 3 of the wands withdrew, but James and Fred still had theirs next to his nose.

"We're reasonably light sleepers" Fred said, giving Scorpius' nose a prod with his wand. Scorpius groaned.

"Leave him alone, his nose is still agony" Rose snarled, her wand immediately poking Fred in the ribs. Fred stepped back with a scowl, clutching his ribs where there was a slight scorch mark.

"You broke his nose 6 weeks ago, Rosie, it can't still be sore" James said, his wand still out.

"Actually, she decided to re-break it this morning" Scorpius said, Rose rolled her eyes and buried her head against his chest under the sleeping bag.

"Seriously?" Al and Hugo burst out laughing from across the room. James grinned at Fred, then at Scorpius.

"Ok, I think we're satisfied that Rosie here's just sleeping tonight, considering we know she can batter you" he grinned, before walking off.

"Your cousins are mental" Scorpius whispered into Rose's hair quietly.

He got no reply, because when he looked down, she was already softly snoring with her head on his chest and an arm draped around him.

Rose woke up the next morning to find that she was alone in the Shed. She sat up on the mattress to find a small parchment note attacked to Scorpius' pillow.

"Taken the boyfriend for a dunk" she read aloud. "Oh shit" she yelled, scrambling to stand before apparating.

She materialised on the side of the lake. She could see the boys on the other side of the small lake, holding a very resistant Scorpius above their heads.

"Let me down" they heard him shout, struggling in their grip.

Rose apparated to their side as they heard James say "If thats what you want". She watched as they dropped her boyfriend rather unceremoniously into the frozen water, which they had melted a hole in the ice especially for him.

"You bastards" she seethed, sending curses at all of the boys before sending another series of charms at the water to a) bring her boyfriend back up to the surface before he got tangled in the tentacle weed down the bottom and to b) warm the water so he didn't freeze instantly.

Scorpius surfaced a moment later, his skin paler than healthy. As he slowly stood up, his body shaking already, he summoned a twig from the ground and transfigured it into a large fluffy towel to dry off with. He wrapped it around him as Rose ran up to him and charmed a set of pyjamas to replace his sodden pair and wrapped her arms around him, sending charm after charm at him to dry his hair and warn his body temperature up. When she was satisfied that he was ok, Rose spun around to face her cousins and brother. James stood there with his teeth chattering in his boxers; Rose had charmed his pyjamas off of his body and onto Scorpius'.

"WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?" she shrieked at them. They all cowered away. Scorpius didn't have the energy to laugh at how helpless the boys looked. "SCORPIUS COULD HAVE DIED FROM THE SHOCK OF THE TEMPERATURE OF THE LAKE. HOW COULD YOU ALL BE SO STUPID?" she screamed, marching up to Fred and raising a hand to slap him. Scorpius quickly reached her side in three of his long strides and wrapped his arms around her waist to pull her back.

"Let me go, Scorpius" she growled, trying to escape his clutch to attack her cousins, who were trying their hardest to be invisible.

"No. You've scared them enough, I think that's revenge" he said quietly, easily lifting her up and walking her back towards the lake.

"You could have died, Scorpius, how would I have coped if that had happened?" she cried, putting both hands up in the air dramatically.

"But I did't because this amazing witch cast a ton of charms to prevent it" Scorpius smirked. "See, i'm fine" He grunted as she slapped him around the face.

"That was for saying you're fine when you're not and nearly dying on me" she said. "And this" she leant up and kissed him fully on the lips, wrapping her hands around his neck and pulling gently at the hairs at the back of his neck with the hand not holding her wand, "is for still being here"

"I think I'm permanently damaged" Hugo muttered from his position a few metres away. Rose threw a stinging hex at him then turned around and faced the boys.

"You will all apologise to Scorpius, and then you will return to the Shed" Rose ordered. The boys all nodded. Rose raised her eyebrow.

"Sorry" they muttered before walking back in the direction of the Shed. They watched as Al and Hugo shoved James and Fred over. They could hear the boys muttering angrily at each other, blaming each other for getting themin trouble.

"What about us?" Scorpius asked.

"We are going back to my bedroom to get showered and in warmer clothes" she said, before holding his hand and apparating them back into the bedroom hey had been in the night before. "Shower's through there" Rose pointed towards an ajoining room. "I'll go and find you some clothes, where did you leave your stuff?"

"It's in the kitchen" Scorpius said. Rose smiled then closed the door behind her as she left.

Rose opened the bathroom door a couple of minutes later, carrying a clean set of clothes and another towel. Scorpius poked his head out from behind the shower curtain.

"You warmed up yet?" Rose asked, walking up to the curtain.

"I'm a lot warmer now" he smirked. "Are they going to get in trouble?"

"Nah, i think they've learnt their lesson" Rose grinned. "Now I want you to be warmed up, but can you be quick in the shower as I want to jump in" she smirked.

"Why not just jump in with me?" Scorpius winked as he said it.

"While all my male relations are under the same roof as us, I think I'll avoid that risk" Rose grinned. "But maybe tomorrow morning when we aren't under the same roof as them" it was her turn to wink as she turned to leave. She shut the door then went back down the stairs.

"How was your night's sleep?" Hermione asked as Rose came back into the kitchen.

"Uneventful" Rose said, picking up a large plate and ladling a full english breakfast for two onto it. "No nightmares, which was the plan. Oh, the boys all threatened Scorp, but they withdrew after Fred jabbed his nose and I had a yell." Hermione laughed.

"Care to explain why you and Scorpius are upstairs right now, instead of in the Shed?" she asked.

"The boys took Scorp for a dunk and after I had to rescue him, I thought he needed a shower to warm up again as well as get some clean clothes" Rose shrugged, turning to leave again.

"They did WHAT?!" Hermione almost screamed.

"They thought it would be hilarious to pick Scorpius up from our mattress and throw him in the lake this morning" Rose repeated, "But I sorted it, Mum. They're back in the Shed, and they never looked so scared of me in their lives" she grinned.

"I'm putting them all on washing up duty for the duration of their stay" Hermione scowled. "I assume all that food is for both of you?"

"No Mum, I want 4 bits of bacon, 4 bits of toast, 6 million baked beans, two tomatoes, two hash browns and 40 mushrooms all for myself" Rose rolled her eyes before opening the kitchen door with her foot. "Oh, mum?" she added just before she left, "We're going to go stay at the Cottage for a night or two, so can you possibly get some food for us to take?"

"I'll just leave you some money. You two can go to the Tescos down the road from the Cottage once you've arrived" she said, returning to the cooker to stir the beans for the rest of the family. Rose smiled before heading back up the stairs.

When she opened the door, Scorpius was sat cross-legged, fully clothed, on the double bed flicking through a photo album.

"You smell better" Rose smirked as she placed the plate of food carefully on the bed.

"And you still smell like that lake" he grinned, kissing her on the cheek before grabbing a slice of toast and using a fork to ladle beans onto it.

"Thanks" Rose exclaimed as she sat down. "I'll have a shower properly once i've eaten" she said, grabbing a fork and spearing a piece of bacon onto it.

"Itinery for today?"

"Well, we're staying at the Cottage for a few days now so I guess we can head over there after breakfast" she said. Scorpius nodded, and continued to eat his beans on toast.
