[Chapter 20 : Going Back There]
Hey guys, here's the next chapter. I hope to put more up this coming weekend. Thanks to those who are following/ have favourite my story. Please leave me some comments! I plan to follow this story up with at least two/three stories in future. But we are not done yet!
She closed the door with a smile. Maybe the captain was right, maybe Brian was the one. Maybe she could trust him with everything. As she thought about the evening she got ready for bed. Once she was in bed with the lights off her mind went back in time.
She found herself back in the room, Lewis was lying at her feet and the metal bar which she had just use to beat him had fallen to the floor.
She stumbled backwards until she met with the wall. She then slid down to the floor until she was sitting with her knees up against her chest. She was battling to form any kind of thoughts. She knew she should start planning how to get out of there but for a few moments she was frozen to the spot.
She started to crawl out of the room. Once out the room where it had all happened, she managed to pull herself to a standing position. Using the walls as a stabilizer she walked into the living room where she hoped to find a phone. She was too tired to be delighted when she found it and heard that it had a dialling tone. She fell into the chair and for a moment she didn't know which number to dial. Then she started to dial the only constant in her life.
'Captain Cragen, Special Victims Unit.'
At the sound of his voice she started to whimper.
'Ma'am, its ok. Just take a breath.' Was all he could say as the woman, he assumed it to be a woman, because she had yet to say a word.
She in turn said the only word that would say everything she wanted to say and those she couldn't.
'Dad.'
'Liv? Is that you? Where are you?' He said while trying to attract attention for those who were in the bullpen. 'It's Liv! Trace and record!'
'I don't know where I am. House.' She sounded very tired and scared.
'Liv, the guys are starting to trace the call now. Fin, Nick and Amanda are already on their way to the cars so they can start moving. We will get to you soon. Are you hurt?'
'Yes, but… think I'm ok for now.'
'Where is Lewis?'
Lewis, the guys who had caused her so much pain. Her mind started to wondered back over the last few days.
'Liv! Olivia! Are you there?' The captain was desperate for her to say another word.
'Uh… bedroom… unconscious… maybe dead.'
'Ok, just stay with me until the guys get there. Please! Liv, listen I'm putting you on speaker, there is someone who wants to say hi.' Cragen knew that she needed to hear as many familiar voices as possible so that she would fight to stay alive if she was injured.
'Hey Liv.'
'Bri.' Her voice cracked.
'Yes Baby, its me. I can't wait to see you. Hold on just a bit longer, please Baby.'
'Hey you. I knew you get the upper hand.'
'Munch.'
'Yeah it's me. Listen, we have your location and the team are on their way. They'll be there in about 45 minutes. They are driving as fast as they can.'
'Liv, some uni's are closer, can I send them?' Asked Cragen.
'I want you guys.'
'I know Liv. Our guys are coming, but I want you safe. What if they come and just stand in the room with you, to make sure Lewis doesn't wake up and reach you. They don't have to come anywhere near you unless it is needed.'
'Ok.'
'Liv, Brian is going to stay on the line with you so I can talk with the uni's and Munch with the team.'
Silence.
'Brian, whatever you do keep her talking. About anything!' Cragen said while his one held covered the speaker.
'Hey, baby. So I was thinking about planning and starting to save for our first holiday. Where do you think we should go?'
After a few minutes Cragen came back.
'Hey Liv. Sorry to interrupt the holiday planning but the uni's are outside. They going to break the front door and come in. Ok? Just stay on the line with us.
In the background both Cragen and Brian heard a loud bang and they heard Liv grasp for air.
'It's ok Liv. It's the uni's.' Brian repeated.
Once again they could hear movement but this time there were also voices.
'Detective Benson?'
Olivia nodded.
'My name is Officer Michelle Bosch. Your captain sent us. I'm just going to sit here and wait with you, ok? My partner and his friend have gone to check on the other guy.'
'Ok. Thanks.' Olivia replied in a shaky voice.
'Just keep talking to your people while we wait.'
'Cap, the uni's are here.' Olivia's voice was slightly strong now that she wasn't alone.
'Good Liv. That's good.'
30 minutes later.
Nick, Fin, and Amanda brought the car to a screeching halt. The doors flew open and they ran up to the front door. At the door they stopped, knowing that the next few minutes would be in their minds for years to come. They filed into the house and found their way to the living room. There, in the corner was a shell of the woman they all knew. Their stomachs turned with what they saw. The strong, independent, badass woman who would lead them into any deadly situation was sitting in the corner of the room, her body broken, bruised and bleeding curled up into a tight ball. She was clinging to the phone as if it was her only lifeline. Nick and Fin looked at each other and Fin gave Nick a nod. He was her partner. He stepped forward.
'Liv.' He said softly as he knelt in front of her. 'Liv, its Nick.'
She initially tensed when she heard a voice close to her but after a second or two she looked up and grasped.
'Liv, what is wrong?' Cragen's concerned voice came over the phone as he heard her grasp.
'He's in front of me.'
'Who Liv?!'
She remained silent.
'LIV?!'
'Captain, its Nick here. We are here with her.' Nick spoke into the phone as Olivia seemed to be in shock at the sight of her partner.
'Wow. Ok.' Cragen and Brian let out their breathes. 'Great. How is she?'
'We have her now Captain.' Was all he could say.
'Put the phone next to her ear for a moment.'
'Liv, Captain wants a word.' Nick spoke softly as he held the phone to her ear.
'Liv, the guys have got you now. You are safe. I'm going to put down the phone now and get in my car. I'll be there in a bit.'
'Baby, I'm going to meet you at the hospital, ok?'
'Guys, I think Liv's a bit overwhelmed right now. She did nod when you both explained your next moves.'
'Ok Nick. Take care of our girl.' The captain said as he put the phone down.
'Liv. Fin, Amanda and myself are here to take you home.' Nick said gently still, kneeling in front of her but not touching her in anyway.
She stared at him and then reached out a hand to touch his face.
'You are real. You are really here.'
He gently took her hand. 'Yes, Liv. We here… it's over. You are safe.'
A groan left her chest.
Amanda approached the two partners slowly and past the blanket over to Nick.
'Liv, Amanda has brought you a blanket I'm going to put it around you, ok?'
Olivia stayed silent.
Nick moved closer to her and gently put the blanket around her. As it touched her shoulders she immediately stiffened and recoiled from him. It was a reflex and as soon it happened, she hung her head so he could no longer see her face.
'Sorry.' She mumbled.
'Liv, don't mention it. It was a reflex. I get it.'
'I…I didn't mean to.'
'Liv, I know that. It's okay. Can you look at me?'
Olivia slowly lifted her tired face to meet her partner's.
Nick's heart broke as he looked into Olivia's face.
'Liv, we can sit here as long as you need to. There's no rush, but at some point we need to get you out of here and to a doctor. Just let me know when you are ready to leave.'
Olivia fell asleep remembering how her team whom she trusted with her life found her and brought her home.
