Ok so I am basically updating all my stories in one go. I have a few hours before I have to be at this party. So On with the story:
Kagome woke up the next morning with the sun. She quickly took a bath and then changed into her slayer outfit and then put a kimono on top of it. Even though she knew the castle was protected she did not want to take a chance. There were demons everywhere and Kagome wasn't positive all of them would appreciate her presence here. Kagome opened her door to find Emi already waiting for her.
"How did you sleep milady?"
"I slept fine, thank you Emi."
Emi nodded and started walking once again to the dinning room. Kagome entered to find Haru and another girl who looked similar to Haru already at the table. At her entrance they both stopped their conversations and turns towards the door.
"Ah Kagome, I am so happy to see you this morning."
Kagome blushed a little and sat down next to the girl. Kagome look over at Haru once she got her blush under control.
"Um.. yeah it's a pleasure to meet you as well Haru."
Haru smiled "Oh let me introduce you to my sister Chouko"
Chouko bowed her head to Kagome in greeting. "Nice to meet you Chouko"
Once again the doors opened and Rin came walking in with Lord Sesshomaru and his mother. They both sat down and the meal began.
Half way through the meal the doors opened and a guard came rushing in. He stood by the door until Sesshomaru gave him leave to come forward.
"You make speak"
"My lord the candidates have arrived a day early they will be here by mid day."
Sesshomaru nodded "You may leave"
The guard quickly left the room and returned to his post, Sesshomaru took a few more bites of his meal before speaking.
"I don't have to tell you cousins to be on your best behavior."
Haru huffed and Chouko hid her mouth behind her hand chuckled.
"Of course dear cousin Chouko said but I make no promises should one of these bitches step out of line."
Sesshomaru did not respond to that comment and just simply looked towards the door and called for Airi. Moments later she entered the room and bowed.
"Yes my lord?"
"Are the rooms ready for our guest."
"Yes, they were cleaned and prepared last night."
Sesshomaru nodded "They will be arriving around mid day make sure the kitchen is well stocked and prepared for the mid-day meal."
Airi bowed once more and left the room to do as her master had bid her.
"Miko you are to stay with Rin and watch her throughout the day make sure no harm befalls her. I don't have to tell you what should happen should you fail."
"Oh, so that's what I am here for so nice of you to finally share Sesshomaru." Kagome bit out.
Haru sucked in a breath and Chouko stared at Kagome as if she was crazy. The lady Mother simply smiled with a twinkle in her eyes.
Sesshomaru growled "Miko you will watch your tongue."
Sesshomaru let some of his aura wash over her intending on making Kagome submit to him. However, his aura was met with a barrier and Kagome sat there as if nothing was happing and continued to eat her food. She then calmly wiped her mouth and looked up at Sesshomaru straight in the eye.
"I will not fail on my protection of Rin Sesshomaru. You do not need to talk down to me or give out petty threats." Kagome then lowered her barrier the same time Sesshomaru reigned in his aura.
"mmm, are you sure you don't want Miko as mate. She is lovely she matches our power effortless and that scent. Sesshomaru's beast moaned in his mind."
"Quite Beast, I will hear no more from you on this topic."
Sesshomaru's beast whined but otherwise quieted down.
Sesshomaru looked one last time at Kagome before standing up and briskly walking out of the room.
"Wow Kagome" Haru said
"Yes, I am quite surprised my cousin let you get away with that blatant disrespect." Chouko said
Kagome laughed, I have been dealing with Sesshomaru for three years now and nothing has changed.
Rin who had not spoken a word was seething under the surface. Her lord was going to mate someone else besides her. Rin was devastated tears quickly sprang to the surface. Rin stood up and ran out the room.
Kagome stood up as well she bowed to the others and ran after Rin. Kagome traced her aura signature to the gardens that were outside the castle. Kagome smiled and walked up to Rin who was sitting with her legs pulled up to chest and crying into her knees.
"Rin-chan, what is the matter my dear?"
"I do not understand, I thought my Lord was bringing me here so that I could be his mate or something special like that."
"Oh Rin," Kagome sighed
Kagome pulled Rin into her chest and stroked her hair slowly rocking her back and forth.
"Rin, you may be adult now but Sesshomaru has only seen you as his daughter. Someone he wishes to protect."
Rin sniffed and looked up at Kagome. Kagome could see Rin no longer had the pink color but the gray color of sadness and a dark green for jealousy and red for heartbreak.
"Rin honey, listen to me. There are many other guys out there in the world for you. Sesshomaru is not the only one."
"But he was the only one I could see. He took care of me and kept me safe."
Kagome smiled "As any father should for his daughter."
Suddenly Rin's the dark green in Rin's aura disappeared and was replaced with a clear blue.
"Ah she understands now." Kagome thought.
"I.. I never saw it that way but your right. Lord Sesshomaru was acting just as my father used to when he was alive. He would give me gifts on my birthday and would make sure my mother and I were well fed and protected.
Kagome kissed the top of Rin's head "How about I tell you a story until it is time we go in for lunch."
Rin nodded her head but did not make a move-to-move out of Kagome's arms.
Kagome was fine with that and held Rin while she told her a story about a brave girl who disguised herself as a man to protect her father and took his place in the army.
The sun was just about to reach its zenith in the sky when Kagome felt powerful demonic energies getting closer to the palace. Kagome paused in her story and told Rin it was time to go in for lunch.
Rin who had finally gotten her tears under control during the story stood up and wiped her face clean of the evidence.
Kagome and Rin arrived in the dinning area and took their seats from this morning. Chouko and Haru along with Lord Sesshomaru and the lady mother were already there and seated. Sesshomaru glanced at Rin and could detect the sadness in her aura but did not question it at the time. He had to greet his candidates and the other lords and ladies.
A Hiraku stepped into the room along with Hayate they posted themselves on either side of the door. Hayate winked at Kagome who ignored it and the finally Akihiro walked into the room and sat down in his spot. Two minutes later the door opened and an announcer started calling out names.
"The house of moon welcomes Lady Junko of the southern lands and the her parents Lord Daichi and Lady Riko"
The demon's mentioned walked into the room and bowed to all of us at the table. We all bowed appropriately according to our station. The southern land demons stayed standing, as did we as the other demons were announced.
"Lady Kimiko, Lord Hibiki, and Lady Miyu from the Northern lands"
Then next "Lady Noriko, Lord Ichirou, and Lady Masami from the eastern lands"
Finally after the introductions were over everyone took their seats. Then servants placed the food in front of. Sesshomaru took the first bite then everyone began to eat.
"Lord Sesshomaru if I may inquire why you have two humans at your table?" Lord Ichirou asked
Sesshomaru gestured to Rin "This is Lady Rin she is my ward and next to her is Lady Kagome shikon Miko"
Suddenly everyone stopped eating when they heard Sesshomaru's introduction.
"The Shikon Miko?" Lady Kimiko questioned
Sesshomaru nodded his head. Lady Masami clapped her hands "This is wonderful, I always wanted to meet the girl who helped get rid of that disgraceful hanyou Naraku."
"I didn't really do all that much" Kagome said
"Nonsense, I heard you were the one who fired the killing shot" Lord Hibiki said
Kagome blushed once again and hid her face and began to eat her food once again so she wouldn't have to comment.
Kagome thought everything was going relatively well. Lunch was over with no problems so Kagome and Rin went back outside to play. Rin ran around picking up flowers even though she was 13 years old she still loved to pick flowers. Kagome closed her eyes and kept an eye on Rin's aura to make sure she didn't go anywhere she wasn't supposed to. Kagome cracked one eye open when she felt a familiar signature but not one that was at dinner with them.
"Master Jaken" Rin yelled in excitement
Kagome smiled and closed her eye once again. She was glad Rin now had her favorite torture toy back. For a long time Kagome sat under the tree and just relaxed until she felt a hostile aura heading straight for Rin and Jaken. Kagome jumped up and quickly ran over to where Rin was playing.
Jaken looked over at Kagome when she appeared and continued to pretend to play with Rin. Kagome nodded in acceptance. Eventually Lady Noriko appeared and Kagome stepped right in front of her path.
"Lady Noriko can I help you?" Kagome said with respect but her eyes clearly said differently
Lady Noriko suddenly grabbed Kagome by the neck and lifted her into the air. Kagome realized until too late that Noriko was not after Rin but her.
"If you think your presence here can sway Lord Sesshomaru to your side then you are sorely mistaken."
"I do not understand Lady Noriko" Kagome chocked out
Noriko brought Kagome close to her face "You are staying in the room I used to stay in whenever I came visit however, Lord Sesshomaru has placed me in the eastern wing with the rest. I inquired why I did not have my old rooms and they told me you were staying there."
Kagome lifted her hands to Noriko's hand that was holding her up and sent a pulse of her power into her hand. Not enough to purify her but to burn her and make her let go, Noriko screamed in pain and dropped Kagome.
"You bitch" Noriko yelled
She extended her claws and went in to slash Kagome's face who was on the ground coughing and getting air back into her lungs. However, before she could touch her someone caught her hand.
"Lady Noriko if you so much as lay one hand on the Miko I will throw you and the rest of your family out of my palace" Lord Sesshomaru said
Noriko gasped and spun around to face Sesshomaru after he released her hand from his grip.
"Forgive me Lord Sesshomaru it will not happen again." Noriko threw a glare at Kagome who was now beginning to stand up and walked off.
"Miko" Sesshomaru inquired
"I am fine Sesshomaru, thank you."
"Hn, see that it does not happen again"
Sesshomaru turned and walked off as well.
"Lady Noriko tried to hurt our Miko, punish her" Sesshomaru's beast said
"She is not our's beast" Sesshomaru answered back
"No but she is in our palace she is our guest, and she protected Rin before. She is our's to protect." Sesshomaru's beast said
Sesshomaru paused in his walk "Our's to protect" Sesshomaru thought
"Son, do you have someone to protect?"
Sesshomaru shook his head of the memory and continued walking back to his study.
That's the chapter I wrote way more than I intended but oh well I think it turned out quite well. A lot of new characters were introduced this chapter. Please Review!
