I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. New years is coming and I thought I would give everyone new chapters of my stories as a gift. I hope you all like this chapter and Happy New Years!
Kagome sighed and looked over at Rin and Jaken. "Well it seems the drama has begun."
"Kagome.." Rin mumbled while looking at the ground
"What is it Rin?" Kagome questioned
"What happens when Lord Sesshomaru takes a mate, will he get rid of Rin?"
"Rin.." Kagome gasped she had no idea that Rin was thinking such thoughts
"Heavens no child" A voice said from behind them
Kagome spun around in surprise she was not paying close enough attention to her surroundings and The Lady Mother had snuck up behind her. Kagome and the others quickly bowed at her presence.
"Do not bow to me Kagome you and I are equal status, and Rin you are pack"
"Thank you Milady" Kagome said
"Oh dear I never told you my name did I… forgetful of me. My name is Mimiko but you may call me Mimi."
Kagome and Rin smiled and nodded. "Well, I came to see if Kagome had gotten a tour of the castle. I was pretty sure that my son had neglected to do so." Mimi teased
Kagome laughed, "In fact I have not gotten a tour the only places I know how to get to are the gardens, the dinning room and my own room."
"Oh dear well then Rin why don't you and I show Kagome around?" Mimi asked
Rin nodded her head "Yeah lets do it!" Rin squealed in excitement
Mimi smiled, as did Kagome at her excitement. "Alright then, Jaken you may return to your regular duties."
"As you wish Milady" Jaken said then bowed and ran off to do whatever it is he does around the palace.
"Now then let us get going" Mimi said and turned to lead everyone back into the castle.
"Lord Sesshomaru, what is the meaning of having the Shikon Miko with in your home, is she one of the candidates as well? Lord Hibiki asked
"I can assure you she is not part of the candidate process but that does not mean she is not part of the over all process." Sesshomaru announced
"What?" Lord Ichirou questioned
"Lady Kagome is the strongest Miko in all the lands. I brought her here to present her to the court and for her to help me evaluate who my mate should be. I have however not told her this. All she knows is that she is to protect Rin."
"I do not understand" Lord Daichi confessed
"In other words Sesshomaru is using the Miko to test the strength of our daughters to make sure they are strong enough to protect any future pups." Lord Ichirou explained
"What if Kagome turns out to be the strongest out of our daughters though?" Lord Hibiki asked
"Then none of your daughters are needed and are simply wasting their time." Sesshomaru said coldly.
Sigh.. "I guess there is nothing we can do about that but let us talk about other matters. Darkness is looming on the horizon. I have sensed an evil even greater than Naraku headed for our lands." Ichirou said
"Yes, the south has felt this darkness as well. We can not tell when it will reach the lands but we know it is approaching."
Sesshomaru nodded "This is a serious matter as well. You all will be returning to your lands in the morning. Let us continue to share information on this matter as we gain it."
The Lords all nodded "I do not wish to worry my mate. I feel better knowing that my daughter will be safe here within in your castle." Lord Hibiki expressed
Sesshomaru inclined his head in acknowledgement. When there was a knock at the door.
"Enter"
"My Lord the evening meal is ready to be served" Suzu announced
"Very well, you may leave"
Suzu bowed and then walked backwards out of the room sliding the door closed.
"Let us adjourn to the evening meal"
The other Lords quickly agreed and stood up and walked out of the room to the dinning room.
"Wow I didn't realize how many different rooms there were in the palace" Kagome said
Rin giggled "Yes even I got lost the first few times Sesshomaru-sama brought me here.
Just then Emi came walking around the corner and bowed "My Ladies the evening meal is being served".
"Oh all right let us go eat" Mimi said
Kagome and Rin nodded and followed Lady Mimiko to the dinning room. Once there they entered to find everyone there already.
"Oh my I hope we are not late."
"You are on time Mother" Sesshomaru spoke up
Mimi smiled and took her seat at the table along with Rin and Kagome.
Noriko was still seething on the inside from what Kagome had done to her earlier and was secretly glaring at her through the dinner. Kagome noticed but decided to ignore her. When dessert was served Sesshomaru cleared his throat to get the rooms attention. Everyone looked up and waited for him to speak.
"The trials begin tomorrow morning there will be three different test none will know when they are happening so you do not have time to prepare for them."
The girls were surprised and grew more nervous and determined to win over Sesshomaru. Once dessert had been finished and cleared everyone retired to bed to be well rested for tomorrow.
It was however not pleasant dreams for all for Kagome was having a nightmare.
Kagome was standing in a field covered in flowers and all around her there was blood everywhere staining the flowers red.
"What is going on"? Kagome wondered
Suddenly dark laughter sounded from every direction. "So there is some people here strong enough to give me a challenge."
"Who are you? Show yourself" Kagome yelled
More laughter sounded and darkness started to gather all around Kagome and blocked out the sun and turned Kagome's surrounding dark.
Kagome eyes grew large she quickly drew upon her Miko powers and tired to push back the darkness but nothing was working and she started to panic. The laughter continued as she struggled.
Miko…
Miko..
KA-GOME!
Kagome quickly sat up and laid her hand against her chest and slowly calmed down.
"I see you have finally awakened" a voice said from next to her
Kagome looked to her right and found Sesshomaru standing there.
"Oh Sesshomaru I did not notice you standing there. Is there something I can do for you?"
"Your aura was becoming heavy and reflected distress. It was disturbing this Sesshomaru's rest so he came to tell you to cease immediately"
"Oh, I'm sorry it was just a nightmare, I think." Kagome apologized
"You think? Sesshomaru questioned
"Yes, I was standing in a field full of flowers when suddenly there was a laugher and dark voice saying that are people here strong enough to present a challenge when darkness covering everything. I tried to dispel it with my powers but nothing was working." Kagome confessed not entirely sure why she told Sesshomaru but it did make her feel better.
"I see, go back to sleep Miko" Sesshomaru said and walked to the door to leave.
"Sesshomaru!" Kagome called out
Sesshomaru paused "Thank you." Kagome said
Sesshomaru said nothing and walked out the door. Kagome smiled, lied back down to go to sleep. She closed her eyes and quickly fell back into the world of dreams.
There is the chapter I hope everyone enjoyed it. Not much happening the drama really begins in the next chapter. We got a look at this darkness hehe be prepared there will be hot tempers and powers flying everywhere. Your author ~Alex~
