After two hours, Olivia woke up screaming. She quickly scanned the room and saw where she was. She had fallen asleep while watching the movie on television. 'Calm yourself down' she thought to herself. 'Focus on your breathing.' Slowly she started to relax. Eventually Olivia got up and went to the bathroom before she returned to the bed, switching the remaining lights off as she went. She lay down and hugged herself as she tried to get some more rest.

Rest didn't come easily that night as within two hours Olivia was walking around her room once again. This time she made some calming tea that Brian had so thoughtfully brought. She hoped that that would allow her to sleep. Olivia decided to get back into bed with her tea and book and read a bit. Just as she did she noticed that her phone was flashing. She looked at her phone and saw that Alex had sent her a message fifteen minute ago.

'Hey Liv. I hope this doesn't wake you. Just want to say I'm still at work if you need someone.'

She decided to reply.

'Hey Alex, what you doing at work at 1am?'

'Trying to get my head around a case. Not getting anywhere. How u doing? How's hotel?'

'Can't sleep. Keep waking up. Hotel is WOW.'

'Brian there with u?'

'No. I sent him home. Thought I wanted some time alone.'

'Regretting the decision?'

'Kinda of.'

'I'm not getting anywhere with case. Want some company?'

'Thanks Case but u need ur rest. U have work later.'

'I can b there in 15…'

'Really?'

'C u now Liv.'

Olivia sat back in her bed. She truly was thankful. She might not have any family, apart from her half-brother Simon that she wasn't really close to but she surely had good friends that were willing to help her through this.

True to her word Alex knocked at Olivia's door. As Olivia opened her door, Alex took in her friend's dishevelled appearance. Olivia's hair was hanging lose, there were dark circles under her eyes, and her face was exhausted. Alex turned around locked the door, put her bag down at the door, then turned back around.

'Come here.' Was all Alex said before enveloping Olivia in a hug.

Olivia allowed herself to be taken in by her best friend's hug and before she knew her whole body was racked with sobs. She had known Alex for years and felt she could be herself around her. She knew what happened with Alex would stay between them.

Alex guided Olivia to the bed and helped her to get under the covers. She then got in the other side of the bed and drew Olivia into her arms. The two women lay there crying for over an hour before Olivia fell asleep once again.

Three hours later Olivia was tossing and turning in her sleep but that wasn't all she was doing. Alex was woken up by Olivia crying in her sleep.

'No…Please… No' came her voice. 'Please, I want to live.'

Alex sat up listening to her friend beg for her life in her sleep and wondered how much of it was Olivia's imagination and how much had actually transpired. Alex couldn't let it go on so she put her hand on Olivia's shoulder and started to wake her up.

'Liv, wake up for me, please. You are dreaming.' Alex had to repeat this a few times before she got any reaction.

Before Alex realized Olivia slapped her in the face and pushed Alex away from her while saying 'Get off me. NO!'

Suddenly Olivia was aware of her surroundings again and then what she had done dawned on her. Alex was still in a state of shock as Olivia looked around at her. Olivia suddenly jumped up and ran to the bathroom and locked the door.

As soon as Olivia was moving, Alex regained her composure and ran after Olivia.

'Liv, don't! I know you didn't mean it and you didn't know it was me. It was stupid of me to get that close.'

But by the time she reached the door it was shut.

'Liv, please open up! Please.'

For the first few minutes there was silence through the door and then it came. Heart wrenching cries from a woman who hardly ever broke. These weren't the sobs that Alex had experienced earlier in the evening. These were gut retching cries. As Alex stood there for a few moments pleading with Olivia to open the door she became increasing worried. Eventually Alex ran back to her phone and dialled.

'Hello?' came a voice think with sleep.

'Brian. It's Alex. I need you here at Liv's hotel now! And we need the key to the bathroom door.'

It was something in Alex's voice that got Brian up, dressed and out faster than he had ever done in his life. He was so glad that the streets were deserted at this time of the morning because within twenty minutes he stood in front of the bathroom door unlocking it. Both he and Alex had their hearts in their throats as they unlocked the door. The sounds from inside the room had stopped a few minutes ago and they weren't sure what they were going to find.

Brian was first to enter and found Olivia slouched over the toilet.

'Liv?! Liv?' he repeated but there was no answer. He felt her and she was limp.

'She's worn herself out. She's out.' He said back to Alex. He picked her up and carried her to the bed.

'Should we call someone?' Alex asked.

'Nah. I think she's just totally exhausted. Hopefully she's sleep for a few hours.'

Brain carried Olivia back to bed and tucked her in.

'Alex, what happened?' He said as he sat opposite Olivia but looking at Alex's cheek.

Alex sat down beside him and relayed the past few hours to Brian. After she had told Brian, he turned to Alex.

'You know that she never…'

'Brian, I know.'

'Why don't you go sleep on the bed in the other room. You have work in a few hours.'

'You?'

'I'm staying right here until she wakes up.'

Alex took one last look at her friend before standing up and going into the other room to get two hours restless sleep.
