authors note: extreme apologies for not updating in so long. my original draft was taken away on my school macbook for the holidays and i refused to rewrite this chapter because i honestly just couldn't. i'll try to make up for it oAo
Teikou Middle School was known for many things, but music would not be one. Despite their motto to be 'ever victorious', their musical department was still lacking. However, the school principal's love for music never faltered. In fact, the Teikou Music Festival was held once every year in celebration of the principals wishes, and everyone was to attend. Even including the famous basketball team, "Generation of Miracles".
ooo
"Ah! I've met this singer before!"
The group turned to Kise, who was holding up a CD from a stand.
"Really?" asked Murasakibara, who was absentmindedly chewing snacks.
Unusually though, it was not only him who was eating, but in fact, everyone else was too. With so many dazzling food stands offered at school today, no one missed the chance to eat their favourite foods.
"Yep~! I saw her once during a modeling job! She was-"
Aomine cut him off with a mouthful of takoyaki, obviously not impressed.
"Don't brag unless it's Horikita Mai!"
A new voice cut in this time, belonging to the impatient captain.
"Be thankful that training was cancelled today, otherwise I believe extra laps would be due."
The pair arguing immediately stopped, and faced the other way with nervous faces.
Finally happy with the silence, Akashi walked on to lead the group. The group had only arrived at another stand with when Kuroko spoke up.
"Where's Momoi?"
Everyone flinched a bit (with the exception of Akashi and Aomine), obviously not used Kuroko's presence yet. Aomine replied first lazily, unconsciously aware of Momoi's activities due to her constant babbling.
"Think Satsuki's gone off somewhere to do some stupid committee-"
Bonk!
Suddenly right behind him appeared the mentioned Momoi, hitting Aomine's head along the way.
"Jeez Daiki! This "stupid commitee" thing is going to be one of the main events today! And I'm one of the hosts! Listen properly! "
("I swear you've been rubbing off on her, Tetsu." Aomine mumbled behind her back.
"Why are you saying that in a negative tone?" He replied back innocently.)
"Ah, that is outstanding. Congratulating on being a host, Satsuki." Akashi said evenly. "We'll come visit you later." He continued, "When is it?"
"Oh, it'll start soon! There's going to be an announcement for when the performances begin. I'm sure you will hear-"
Ring ring!
The girl's phone rung, effectively cutting off her conversation. She mumbled a few words and ended the call.
"Sorry everyone! I have to go now! We need a quick run through and it's nearly my turn. I'll be going now!" She said quickly.
Momoi turned around to disappear once again, but paused and yelled to Akashi right before she left.
"I met your friend today! She surprised me~"
The captain in subject only raised an eyebrow, but made no comments.
"Did she mean that guitarist?" Midorima asked nonchalantly.
He paused, "Her name is Shirokawa-san." and walked off, leading the group to another place.
ooo
It was halfway through the day when the main event began happening. An announcement with Momoi's bubbly voice called, and the group ultimately decided to attend for entertainment. Except maybe for Aomine, who complained about it until Kuroko shut him up with a 'polite' warning.
They were now standing in a VIP area, (thanks to Momoi's eagerness) and were watching lively performances from small musical bands. Each member were having their own personal... 'reactions' to the music. Aomine and Kise were halfway falling asleep, Kuroko had disappeared, Murasakibara was busy eating, Midorima was actually listening and Akashi was feigning intrest. Afterall, for Akashi, music was not his forte.*
So in conclusion, nobody was listening but Midorima.
About what felt like a thousand musical performances later to the members of GoM, Midorima politely tapped Akashi's shoulder. The redhead turned around, looking to him.
"Isn't that your friend, Shirokawa-san?"
The redhead's focus finally zoned into the performances this time, and realized the scramble that was happening on stage. A group of girls, along with Ayame, had rushed onto stage last minute. The host looked confused, but seemed vaguely understand it was intentional. After being kicked off the stage, only the intruders were left on the stage.
"Hey everyone! You having fun?"
The crowd cheered loudly, and once again, Akashi was reminded of the seemingly rising popularity of Ayame.
"We were meant to surprise you all by rushing onto stage, but I guess that's kind of ruined now due to the slow moving of the drums.."
The crowd laughed loudly, and so did the band, as the drums was indeed being slowly rolled across behind them.
"However, no more of this silly talk. Let's get started!"
"I'm Ayame!" she called into the mic.
"I'm Yumi~" the bassist followed.
"I'm Chie!" the other guitarist said.
"And I'm Maeda." the drummer called from the back.
"And we're.. SPIRAL SKY!" they yelled, as the drummer began her beat.
The guitars began to play, and the familiar melody of SCANDAL's Awanai Tsumori Genki De Ne began echoing throughout the hall.
"I searched for our separated hearts~"
The drummer nodded her head to the beat she laid down.
"In the clamor of mornings that come and go~"
The bassist jumped around as she moved her fingers in a fast speed.
"Saying 'I'm fine here' as we wait at the signal~"
The guitarist smiled to the crowd as she began playing.
"Your familiar profile and face disappears from the view~"
Ayame sang, as her voice filled the hall with her feelings.
The band moved as one, and never did stop with their overflowing joy.
ooo
A certain redhead in the crowd watched carefully, his inner reaction and feeings unsorted. The pure joy in her face as she performed didn't even compare to her joy in talking about it. Her love for music was real.
His thoughts wandered to basketball as the first song finished, and the crowd cheered wildly.
"Will I ever be able to love basketball like that?"
A sudden stab in his heart cut off his thoughts immediately, and the captain went back to focusing on Ayame. Her interesting personality and beauty would distract him for now.
