As Drew and Ursula walked towards the arena, Ursula had a look of worry on her face. I can't lose this fight. My father is watching me…
Flashback
At Ursula's house, she was being scolded by her family for her failure at the Grand Festival. Ursula was standing straight up, but her head was lowered in sadness as her father yelled at her. "You have failed again Ursula! It is not difficult to defeat a stupid brat, but you keep proving me wrong!"
Ursula's father: Triton then pointed towards her brother. "Eric conquered the Sinnoh League when he was your age, so what is your excuse?"
Triton then turned his attention to Ursula with his right hand in a fist. "If you are going to live here as a woman, then you will compete in contests and win! Get out of my sight!" He then used his fist to punch Ursula hard in the face, sending her into a wall. As Ursula used her right hand to comfort her wound, she ran out of the room crying.

Contest Arena
"Hello everyone, and welcome to the next match of round 2. To my left is LaRousse City's Drew!"
The audience roared in applause.
"To my right is Eterna City's Ursula!"
The Television screen then proceeded to show a circular wheel with the numbers 1, 2, and 3 on it. "Spin the wheel!"
The wheel began to spin Clockwise for a few moments before eventually landing on… "A Single Battle, let's begin!"
Drew reached into his left pocket and pulled out a Pokeball. "Roserade, let's go!" He then proceeded to throw his pokeball into the air, releasing his Pokémon.
Ursula clenched her fists at the sight of Drew's Roserade. I don't have a Pokemon that can counter it! After pausing for a few moments, she reached into her pocket and pulled out a Pokeball. "Gabite, let's go!" She then threw her pokeball into the air and released her Pokemon.
After both Pokemon were released, the wheel was replaced with a 5 minute timer and the match began.
Drew decided to start the match by issuing the first command. "Roserade, use Toxic Spikes!" Roserade complied with its trainers command and covered the field in spikes.
As Roserade's attack finished, Ursula and her Gabite looked on with annoyed looks. "Gabite, use Fire Blast!" Gabite proceeded to open its mouth and fired the attack at Roserade.
As the attack got closer and closer, Drew didn't seem worried. "Roserade, dodge and use Venom Drench!" Roserade managed to avoid the attack and land the attack on Gabite, lowering its stats by one stage and causing Ursula to lose points.
"Gabite, use Sandstorm!" Gabite agreed with her trainer's command and created the Sandstorm. But before it could completely kick in, Drew had a counter for it. "Roserade, use Sleep Powder!" Roserade then proceeded to emit the Sleep Powder from its pedals, mixing in with the Sandstorm and putting Gabite to sleep while also stopping the attack.
As Ursula began to lose more points, she got angry. Why are all of my attacks failing to land a hit on this guy!
"Roserade, continue using Venom Drench!"
As Roserade continued to use Venom Drench, Ursula just looked on in silence. She couldn't do anything to fight back against her opponent. Every attack she tries, Roserade counters it. Gabite…
Flashback
After getting scolded and beaten by her father, Ursula laid on her bed with a look of hopeless in her eyes and every pokeball she had, except for one was broken. "What's the point…? Every time I try, I just fail… I have these huge expectations to follow and I just fall short every time…"
She reaches into her pocket and pulls out the only Pokeball she has left. "Gabite… You're the only one I couldn't release… But I don't know what to do now…" She puts the Pokeball on her night stand and picks up a picture. "I remember this. This was when I first caught a Pokemon." She then forms a weak smile. "You were a bratty little Gible when I met you, but we seemed to become quick friends. But look at me now…"
End Flashback
As Gabite continued to get weaker and weaker from the Venom Drench, Ursula snapped back to reality. Maybe I could never reach those high expectations. Maybe I will fail. But I am tired of acting like my father's puppet. She then clenched her fists and issued her next command. "Gabite, you can do this! Don't give up!"
Drew let out a sigh. "Give it up Ursula, you can't win."
Upon hearing that, Ursula smiled. "Maybe I won't. But you know what? I am going to give it my all with Gabite, and even if we lose, we gave it our all!"
After saying that, Drew smirked. "Good. Now prove the bond you have with your Gabite!"
Ursula nodded her head. "Let's do it Gabite."
Gabite proceeded to wake up and let out a battle cry. But then, it began to glow. Ursula was smiling. "Gabite, you're evolving!"
After a few moments enveloped in the white light, it dissipated and transformed the Gabite into its final evolution: Garchomp.
"One minute left!"
"All right Garchomp, we got one minute left in this fight. Let's give it all we got." Garchomp nodded her head and revealed a new attack. After opening her mouth, Ursula noticed tiny flames coming from the teeth. So Garchomp learned Fire Fang? This can work to our advantage. "Garchomp, use Fire Fang!" Garchomp proceeded to charge at Roserade. Roserade tried to dodge, but Garchomp landed the attack.
As Drew's point total decreased, he was surprised. "Darn. Garchomp has faster speed than Roserade now. I didn't think evolving during the match would remove the stat changes. All right Roserade, use Sleep Powder!" Roserade complied with Drew's command and released the spores from its pedals.
But Ursula's smirk began to widen. "Garchomp, use Dragon Breath!" Garchomp opened her mouth and launched the attack, mixing in with the spores and creating a beautiful array of lights in the sky.
Drew's point total began to decrease once again. "Roserade, let's finish this off with Leaf Storm!" Roserade put her pedals together and launched a huge wave of leaves at Garchomp.
"All right Garchomp, finish this off with Fire Blast!" Garchomp fired the attack at Roserade's Leaf Storm. When the two attacks collided, the force was strong enough to send both Pokemon into a wall, sending the two attacks into the air and creating a small explosion.
"TIME!" Marian shouted into her microphone.
As the explosion dissipated, Marian walked to the center of the stage and announced the winner. "The winner, by a 25 percent difference is Drew!"
The audience roared in applause as the two Coordinators looked at the TV screen. Ursula had only 25 percent of her points left, while Drew had 50 percent.
Ursula went over to her Garchomp and smiled. "Although we lost Garchomp. Thank you for giving it your all at the end." Garchomp nodded her head as she was returned to her Pokeball. Ursula walked over to Drew and offered her right hand for a handshake. "Good luck in the third round Drew."
After returning Roserade to its pokeball, Drew smirked and accepted the handshake. "Thank you. Good luck in the future."
As Ursula walked out of the stadium, Drew returned to the waiting room with May waiting there for him with a smile on her face. "Great job Drew, I knew you could do it." Drew smiled back. "Thanks May, I really appreciate it."
Jessalena proceeded to get out of her seat and walked down to the Contest Arena. "Let's get this over with."
That concludes another chapter of Ultimate Coordinator. Next time, it's Jessalena vs Jasmine. But before I end this chapter, let me answer a couple questions.
Why didn't Ursula use Fire Fang until after her Gabite evolved?
Her Garchomp didn't get that move until after she evolved. It may not be accurate to the games, but considering how the anime screws with logic sometimes, I figured I would give Ursula's Gabite a bonus for evolving.
Why the flashbacks?
Since I wrote Ursula with a similar personality to her anime appearance, I wanted to give a little explanation for how she could act like that. Plus it gives some insight into the character's past.
That's all for now. If you have any questions, either leave me a Private Message or put it in a review.
See you next time =)
