Contest Arena

"Hello everyone and welcome to the second to last match of the second round. To my left is Saffron City's Trish, and to my right is Petalburg City's May!"

Marian proceeded to spin the wheel in a counter-clockwise motion. "This match will be a Triple Battle. So let's begin!"

Trish then curled her right sleeve back a bit to reveal her 6 crystal bracelet. She then used three of her fingers to press the top 3 crystals on her bracelet. "Espeon, Umbreon, and Flareon I choose you." After saying her Pokémon's names, they appeared on the field.

After Trish released her Pokémon, May did the same. "Blaziken, Glaceon, and Delcatty, let's go."

When May's Pokemon appeared, the wheel was replaced with a 6 minute timer and the match began.

"Espeon, use Light Screen. Umbreon, use Psychic. Flareon, use Protect."

After Trish issued her commands, May proceeded to do the same. "Glaceon, use Shadow Ball. Delcatty, use Sing. Blaziken, use Overheat!"

Blaziken started the match by firing Overheat from its mouth and was heading towards Flareon. Delcatty tried to use Sing on Espeon, but the attack was bounced back and Delcatty fell asleep. Espeon then set up the Light Screen attack, Glaceon managed to land a hit on Umbreon with her attack, and Flareon managed to avoid taking damage from Blaziken's Overheat by using Protect.

As the attacks subsided, May and Trish's point total began to decrease.

"Blaziken, use Sky Uppercut. Glaceon, use Ice Shard."

Blaziken charged at Umbreon and hit him with enough force to send him into the ceiling while Glaceon's attack appeared to be focused on Espeon. "Espeon, use Protect." Espeon nodded her head and used her jewel to put up a shield, protecting her from Glaceon's attack.

As Umbreon hit the hard ground, Trish and May's point total decreased once again.

"Umbreon, use Psychic. Flareon, use Protect."

"Blaziken, use Sky Uppercut again. Glaceon, use Shadow Ball."

Blaziken charged at Umbreon again and despite Umbreon's attempt at using Psychic, Blaziken landed its attack and sent Umbreon into a wall. After Espeon tried to dodge, she was hit by Glaceon's Shadow Ball.

As Trish's point total took a hard hit from both Umbreon fainting and Espeon taking damage from Shadow Ball, she began to think of a plan. I didn't expect Umbreon to faint that quickly. I have to think of a counter-attack and fast.

"Espeon, use Toxic. Flareon, use Superpower."

After hearing Trish give her commands, May proceeded to do the same. "Blaziken, stop Espeon's attack. Glaceon, use Shadow Ball."

Blaziken charged at Espeon and tried to land a Sky Uppercut on her. But Espeon was able to dodge the attack by jumping on Blaziken's head and was able to finish using Toxic. As Blaziken tried to get Espeon off, Glaceon's Shadow Ball attack hit the two Pokémon. As Espeon made her landing, May was confused. "I thought you were going to use Toxic on one of my Pokémon, but none of my Pokémon was poisoned. What gives?"

Trish then smirked. "I didn't use Toxic on your Pokemon. I used it on Flareon."

May was left even more confused. But as she turned her head, May figured out why. Flareon was charging at Delcatty and hit the still sleeping cat with Superpower, sending Delcatty into the wall with enough force to crack it.

As May's point total took a hard hit, May was shocked. "That Flareon has Guts?"

Trish then responded. "Correct. Whenever Flareon is hit by a status move Guts kicks in and his attack stat increases. Sure Flareon took a hit in Attack after using Superpower but at least it took out your Delcatty."

May then sighed. "Fair enough, but now it's time to get serious." May proceeded to press the large green jewel on her turban. As it began to glow, Blaziken proceeded to transform as well. After a few seconds the glow disappeared and Blaziken looked entirely different. "Meet Mega Blaziken!"

As May smirked, Trish had a look of worry on her face. I know of this Pokémon. If I don't do anything quick then I am doomed. "Espeon, use Protect! Flareon, use Façade!" Espeon nodded her head and used the move. Flareon nodded his head and charged at Glaceon.

"Blaziken, use Blaze Kick. Glaceon, use Ice Shard."

While Glaceon prepared her attack, Blaziken dashed at Flareon at super-fast speed and hit the fire Fox hard in the face, sending him up in the air as Glaceon's Ice Shard attack sent Flareon even further up in the air.

As Trish's point total decreased once again, Trish's look of worry got worse. I can't win… I am just a loser…

May took this moment of weakness and used it to her advantage. "Glaceon, use Shadow Ball. Blaziken, use Sky Uppercut!"

Blaziken charged at the now flying Flareon and hit him in the stomach with his attack, sending him into the ground with enough force to cause the arena to shake as Glaceon fired her attack at Espeon, causing super effective damage.

After hearing both of her Pokemon's cries of pain, Trish was snapped out of her depression. "Flareon, Espeon!"

But despite her cries, Flareon was knocked out and Espeon was showing signs of exhaustion. This was my fault… I let this happen…

May then crossed her arms and sighed. "Trish, it's over. You failed."

After hearing those words, Trish's look of worry turned into a look of determination. "You want to bet May."

After hearing her trainer's words, Espeon smirked and also had a look of determination on her face which surprised May.

As she uncrossed her arms, May smiled. "Show me what you got Trish."

"Blaziken, finish her off with Blaze Kick. Glaceon, use Shadow Ball."

As both of May's Pokemon charged at Trish's Espeon, Trish was smirking. Wait for it.

"Espeon, use Psychic!" Espeon nodded and activated her red jewel. May sighed as a response. "It won't work on Blaziken, it's too fast to be caught."

But Trish's smirk grew even wider. "Who said it was aimed at your Blaziken?"

May was confused as Espeon fired her attack. When Blaziken was about to hit Espeon, Espeon aimed her Psychic attack at Glaceon and used her energy to use Glaceon as a shield. When the Blaze Kick hit Glaceon, Shadow Ball also hit Blaziken, sending it into the ceiling.

After getting hit by Blaziken's Blaze Kick, Glaceon fainted. As May's point total took a heavy decreased, May was angry. "How dare you use my Glaceon as a shield. Blaziken, use Blaze Kick again."

"Espeon, use Protect."

Blaziken proceeded to charge at Espeon, but the Psychic Fox put up a shield and took no damage from the Blaze Kick.

"Blaze Kick again!"

"Espeon, use Psychic."

When both attacks collided, Espeon was able to dodge the Blaze Kick due to her moving the leg up a tiny bit and ducking. "Now Espeon, Toxic!"

Espeon opened its mouth and hit Blaziken with the Poison Status.

"It doesn't matter if Blaziken is poisoned, Blaziken can still fight. Blaziken, Shadow Claw."

"Espeon, use Psychic on Blaziken's fists."

Mega Blaziken charged at Espeon with a fury of Shadow Claw attacks as Espeon tried to dodge the attacks using its Psychic abilities and despite Espeon taking a few hits, Espeon managed to dodge most of them causing both Coordinators to lose points.

But before the match could continue… "Time!"

Blaziken and Espeon proceeded to stop their attacks as Marian walked onto the stage. "This was a very interesting match. One of you had 25 percent, the other had 15 percent. But in the end the winner is May!"

As the audience roared with applause, both Coordinators walked over to their Pokemon. After May returned her Delcatty and Glaceon to their Pokeballs, May walked over to her Blaziken and smiled. "Great job Blaziken, you deserve a good rest."

After Trish returned her Umbreon and Flareon to the bracelet, she walked over to her Espeon and let out a sigh before smiling. "Great job Espeon, I am proud of you."

May then walked over to Trish and let out her right hand for a handshake. "Good match Trish. Despite the shield incident and your depression moment, you were a pretty good opponent to face."

Trish then smiled back and accepted May's handshake. "Thank you May, you're a great Coordinator yourself. Good luck in the third round."

After returning Espeon to her pokeball, Trish walked out of the arena as May returned to the waiting room.

Waiting Room

In the waiting room, Drew, Suzy and Frank finished watching the match and were surprised. "I can't believe Trish lost." Suzy said

Frank then responded. "To be honest though Suzy, she was up against an expert Coordinator."

After hearing Frank's response, Drew proceeded to chime in. "Your friend is correct Suzy, May is an expert Coordinator. The fact that Trish was able to hold her own for that long is an accomplishment."

But before the conversation could continue, May walked in. "Hey guys."

Drew walked over to May and gave her a hug. "Congrats on winning your match May."

May then broke off the hug and smiled. "Thanks Drew." The two then took a seat as The Black Greninja got up and walked over to Suzy and Frank. "So it seems that your Eevee friend has been eliminated."

Suzy sighed after hearing The Black Greninja's words. "Shove it Tobi." Frank chuckled in response but The Black Greninja wasn't amused. "Whatever the case, I honestly thought she would have advanced to the third round."

Suzy had a confused look on her face. "Why do you care? She was just an opponent to you."

The Black Greninja then decided to walk away as Nando and Zoey headed down the hallway to the Contest Arena.

Why is May's Mega Ring in her turban?

Since I used May's design from the Wallace Cup, it was difficult to think of a spot for May to use her Mega Ring until I realized she has a jewel like object in her turban.
