Contest Arena
"Hello everyone , and welcome to the final match of the semi-final round. To my left is May from Petalburg City and to my right is David!"
As the audience cheered in applause, David decided to break the ice with May.
"Good luck May, show me what you can do."
After hearing David's words, May smirked and responded with "Good luck to you too David, may the best one win."
Marian proceeded to spin the wheel in a clockwise motion. "This match will be a Double Battle. So let's begin!"
May then reached into her turban and pulled out two Pokeballs for the match "Blaziken,Venusaur, let's go." She then threw her Pokeballs into the air as her Pokémon appeared in the arena.
David was left surprised by May's choices but decided to brush it aside as he reached into his pockets and pulled out his star Pokémon. "Gallade, Gardevoir, it's time to begin!" He then threw his Pokeballs into the air before they opened up and the two Pokémon appeared in the arena.
Once the four Pokemon appeared in the arena, the match began.
May started off the match by issuing commands to her two Pokémon. "Blaziken, use Fire Spin. Venusaur, use Vine Whip!"
"Gallade, use Psycho Cut."
Gallade started the match by aiming his Psycho Cuts at Venusaur and Blaziken while Gardevoir jumped into the air and created a giant moon thanks to her Moonblast attack. When Gallade's attack collided with the Fire Spin/Vine Whip combination, the Psycho Cuts were smacked away by the vines and they flew up towards the moon as Gallade tried to dodge May's attacks.
As David's point total began to decrease, he looked up to the sky and smirked. "Keep up the attack Gallade. Gardevoir, activate the plan."
Gallade complied with David's request and continued to fire Psycho Cuts at May's Pokémon, but the end result was the same. The Psycho Cuts were going up into the air and David's point total continued to decrease.
May was left confused by David's plan and began to question it. Why is David doing this? This is nothing like his past matches.
"All right Gallade, now it's time!"
Gallade nodded his head and jumped to the top of the moon that Gardevoir created, which left May surprised. "Now it's time for my ultimate play. Gardevoir, use Rain Dance!"
Gardevoir complied with her trainer's request and raised her hands to the sky, creating a rainstorm in the main arena.
But May didn't look that worried as she had a smile on her face. "Not so fast David. Venusaur, use Sunny Day!"
Venusaur nodded her head and fired a miniature sun from its bulb to the sky to create the Sunny Day. However, before the attack could reach the sky, it quickly dissipated into nothing.
As May looked on in shock, David proceeded to explain what happened. "Remember those Psycho Cuts your Venusaur deflected? Well thanks to Gardevoir's Moonblast attack, the moon dust merged with the Psycho Cuts and transformed them into miniature moons, all with their own form of gravity. As such, the minute your Sunny Day attack came within a foot of the miniature moons, the gravity crushed the attack into little teeny bits."
May's point total took a heavy decrease as a result and she was quickly thinking of a way to counter David's attack.
"Blaziken, use Sky Uppercat, Venusaur, use Petal Dance!"
"Gardevoir and Gallade, begin the Ragnarok Dance!"
As both of May's Pokemon began their attacks, Gallade and Gardevoir complied with their trainer's command and began to do a slow dance together. As the two Pokemon got closer to each other, their dancing began to affect the moons.
As Blaziken got closer and closer to the large moon, he was smacked hard to the ground by 3 of the mini moons crashing into his head all at once and creating a huge explosion. After Blaziken hit the ground, 2 mini-moons crashed into the ground next to Venusaur and the area around her began to crack, causing the Pokemon to lose her focus and have her Petal Dance hit the wall.
As May's point total took another heavy decrease, she noticed that the moon was getting closer and closer to the ground but Gallade and Gardevoir were still dancing. I got to think of something fast or else I am going to lose this! But what can I do? If I try and get near the moon with Blaziken, he'll get attacked by the mini-moons, and if I try and destroy from the ground, he can create an Earthquake and screw up Venusaur's aim.
But that's when it hit her. That's it! If he'll screw up Venusaur's aim, then I'll just have to make sure Venusaur sticks to the ground.
"Blaziken, get inside Venusaur's bulb, Venusaur, aim at the moon and fire a Solarbeam!"
David was left dumbfounded by this command and so was Blaziken, but Blaziken complied with the command and managed to get his claws into the bulb as Venusaur took aim at the moon.
"Gardevoir, Gallade, time to end this."
Both Pokemon agreed with their trainer's command and finished their dance, sending the mini-moons to the ground and creating a massive earthquake in the arena. Thankfully, the walls were reinforced to protect the audience from Earthquakes and the judges/Coordinators were also protected by this, but Venusaur and Blaziken were not and they began to feel the effects. But despite the quakes, both Blaziken and Venusaur were able to hold their ground and fire the Solarbeam at the moon, engulfing Blaziken in the attack. However as the attack got closer, Blaziken activated his Blaze ability and launched his Overheat attack at the moon, combining with the Solarbeam and transforming it into a large white/red arrow headed straight for the moon. There was nothing that David and his Pokemon could do to stop the attack from hitting.
Finally, the arrow went straight through the moon and as a result, it created a gigantic explosion in the arena, cracking the glass in the arena and sending Gallade and Gardevoir into the ground.
The dust cloud stayed in the arena for about a minute before it finally began to dissipate and the Coordinators were able to see their Pokémon.
Blaziken and Venusaur were heavily wounded, and so were Gallade and Gardevoir as they were panting as a result of the explosion.
After looking at the Pokémon, May was surprised at the result. "Darn, I thought it would have finished them off."
David then responded with an evil smirk. "It would have been. But I had a certain shield up my sleeve."
After hearing David's response, May had a stunned look on her face.
"I may not have been able to activate it earlier but after the explosion; Gallade used his Protect attack to shield the both of them from the fall. Much like how a royal knight protects his queen till the end. But it did take its toll."
As May looked over to the TV screen, she saw that the both of them were now tied.
"I believe it's time to end this May. I never wanted to do this… But I have no choice! Gardevoir, activate your Sepoku!"
Gardevoir nodded her head in response and used her Psychic abilities to summon a Weegee Board with Venusaur's name on it and then waited for her trainer to give the next command.
May looked on in confusion, now worried at what David will do.
"Healing Wish!"
Before May could even react, Gardevoir activated her move. A couple seconds passed and then Gallade's injuries began to heal as Gardevoir fainted, with Venusaur fainting a second later.
As both Coordinators' took a heavy decrease in their points, May was furious. "How could you do that to your own Pokémon! Didn't she mean anything to you?"
David then responded with "Much like the duty of a Royal Knight, a Queen must be able to keep her Knight alive by any means. Now let's finish this!"
"Gallade, use Brick Break!"
"Blaziken, use Blaze Kick!"
Both Pokémon agreed with their Trainer's request and charged at the other Pokémon at fast speed. But before they collided.
"TIME!"
Both Pokémon stopped charging at each other as Marian walked to the center of the stage.
"This was also a very close match, but by a 1 percent difference, the winner is….."
"MAY!"
The audience cheered with applause as both Coordinators were shocked at the result.
May's eyes widened after hearing those words. "I.I won?"
David was at first surprised by the result but after letting out a sigh, David returned Gallade to his Pokeball and had a smile on his face before walking to the center of the arena to give May a handshake.
"Great job May. That was really close."
May smiled and then responded with. "Thanks David. It was really close, but it felt very satisfying to take you down."
"Good luck in the finals May, I'll be watching. "David then walked out of the arena with a smile on his face while May was ordered to stay in the arena.
Shortly after, Dawn walked into the arena and Marian began to speak. "In one hour, these two Coordinators will compete for the title of The Ultimate Pokémon Coordinator!"
The audience roared with applause as May and Dawn had looks of confidence on their face. One of them was going to win this trophy, while the other will go home with nothing.
