An hour had passed since May's match with David took place and now both May and Dawn was ready to face each other in the final round.
After wishing each other good luck, they walked into the Contest Arena and the announcer began to speak.
Contest Arena
"Hello everyone, and welcome to the finals! To my left is May from Petalburg City and to my right is Dawn from Sandgem Town!"
As the audience cheered in applause, Marian walked over to the judges and pressed a red button.
All of a sudden, the main arena became cloaked in a giant transparent rectangle that was tall enough to reach the ceiling and wide enough to reach the walls.
As May and Dawn looked on in shock, Marian began to speak once again. "For this final match, we decided to spice it up a little bit. The rectangle is a virtual reality arena that will change the location you two are in. This match will be a Single Battle. If a Coordinator loses 50 percent of their total points, or their Pokémon faints, the other Coordinator will get a point. The first Coordinator to get 1 point wins the Ultimate Coordinator Pokémon Contest. So without any further delay, let's select the first arena."
Marian then proceeded to snap her fingers and the virtual reality arena was transformed into a Jungle-like setting.
"Let the first round begin!"
May then reached into her turban and pulled out her Pokémon for the round. This will be interesting. I don't know what Dawn has up her sleeve for this match, so I will have to think of a good plan to win. I can't lose this. "Venusaur, let's go." May then threw her Pokeball into the air and Venusaur appeared in the Jungle-like arena.
Dawn was surprised by May's choice but she ignored it for now and selected her Pokémon. "Lopunny, I choose you." She then threw her Pokeball into the air and her Lopunny appeared in the arena standing on one of the tree branches.
Once the two Pokémon appeared in the arena, the match began.
"Venusaur, use Toxic Spikes!"
"I see what you're doing May. Lopunny, jump to the next tree and use Magic Coat."
Venusaur started the match by launching her Toxic Spikes into the air. Although most of the Toxic Spikes hit the ground, Lopunny was protected by her Magic Coat technique and the spikes that bounced off of the attack hit the trees near Lopunny and they began to melt the leaves.
As May's point total decreased, she issued her next command. "Venusaur, use Petal Dance!"
"Lopunny, spin in the air and use Ice Beam!"
As Venusaur launched her Petal Dance into the air, combining with some of the Toxic Spikes on the ground, Lopunny jumped into the air while also spinning and combined her Ice Beam attack with the spin to create an Ice Tornado, destroying the Toxic Spikes in the trees and creating a beautiful spectacle in the air once it dissipated. But before Lopunny could land on one of the trees, she suffered a direct hit from the Poisoned Petal Dance and crashed into the ground.
As May and Dawn's point totals decreased, the arena became affected by Lopunny's Ice Tornado attack as it transformed into more of an Arctic Tundra than a Jungle.
May and Dawn began to shiver as a result of the change, but a shield appeared around them shortly after to protect them from the cold.
"Venusaur, use Petal Dance again!"
"Lopunny, use Dizzy Punch to break up the ice!"
Venusaur tried to fire a Petal Dance at Lopunny, but her petals became partially frozen by the cold and she was unable to attack, while Lopunny tried to use her attack on the Tundra but it ended up phasing through the ice and did nothing.
"Venusaur, use Sunny Day!"
"Lopunny, use Magic Coat!"
As Lopunny prepared her Magic Coat attack, Venusaur was eventually able to launch her Sunny Day attack into the air and warm the two Pokémon up.
But as the sun began to work its magic the arena began to change once again, but this time it begun to look more like an ocean with mini islands for the Pokémon and Coordinators to stand on.
As the two Coordinators took another point decrease, Dawn issued her next command to Lopunny.
"Lopunny, try and jump into the water and use Dizzy Punch."
"Venusaur, prepare your Solarbeam attack!"
Lopunny tried to jump into the water and unlike the Tundra; she was actually able to interact with the environment as she dove down into the water and began to use her Dizzy Punch attack to create a Water Tornado in the arena as Venusaur launched her Solarbeam, cancelling out the two attacks.
"Lopunny, jump out of the water and use Ice Beam!"
Lopunny complied with her trainer's request and jumped out of the water thanks to her Bounce attack and prepared to launch her Ice Beam attack at May's Venusaur. But May was prepared for this as the minute Lopunny got out of the water, she was bombarbed by a Petal Dance attack which screwed up Lopunny's vision for a little bit but she was still able to prepare her Ice Beam attack.
"Now Venusaur, finish it off with Solarbeam!"
As Lopunny's vision was beginning to return, she fired her Ice Beam attack at Venusaur. But at the same time, Venusaur fired her Solarbeam at Lopunny and when the two attacks collided, it created a beam struggle.
The struggle went on for about a minute and it didn't look like either Pokémon was giving up as they continued firing their attacks at each other. But this beam struggle was beginning to affect the area around them as the water began to vibrate, eventually transforming into tidal waves that began to flood some of the islands around the two Pokémon.
May and Dawn were beginning to suffer the effects of the beam struggle as the tidal waves began affecting their islands as well, almost completely covering them in water. The amount of space that was left for them to stand on was less than 10 centimeters wide. They knew that if they wanted to remain standing, they had to end this battle quickly.
As the beam struggle continued on, Venusaur began to emit a green aura from her body, and her Solarbeam attack slowly began to increase in strength.
As May looked on with a surprised look, Dawn had a shocked expression on her face. If that activates, I'll lose!
She tried to give a command to her Lopunny, but it was too late. The Solarbeam attack overpowered her Ice Beam attack and Lopunny was caught in the blast, creating a huge explosion in the arena.
A minute passed before Marian shut off the Virtual Reality and the explosion began to dissipate, revealing the winner.
"The winner of the Ultimate Coordinator Pokemon Contest is…."
Once the explosion completely dissipated, Venusaur was still standing and Lopunny was on one of the remaining islands with swirls around her eyes.
"May!"
While the audience roared with applause, May and Dawn had surprised looks on their faces. They were surprised at the results and it took them about a minute to process it.
But after that minute, May had an excited look on her face as she raised her hands in the air. "Yes!"
After May spoke, Dawn was the next to react with a short sigh before it changed into a smile.
Once May and Dawn returned their Pokémon to their Pokeballs they walked over to the center of the arena and gave each other a handshake, congratulating each other for the great match.
Shortly after the match concluded, the closing ceremony of the Ultimate Coordinator Pokemon Contest had taken place with May receiving a golden trophy as a prize, Dawn getting a silver trophy as a prize for getting second place, and David getting a bronze trophy as a prize for getting third place.
But once the ceremony concluded, almost every Coordinator met outside the Contest Hall to give their goodbyes to the other.
May was the first to break the ice. "So now that this is over, what will you guys do now?"
Dawn was the first to answer. "Well, I'm going to the Kalos Region to try my hand at the Kalos Pokémon Contests while also trying to discover more Mega Stones."
"I see. David, what about you?"
David answered with. "Well, Trish and I are heading back to the Johto region. We both got Pokémon to take care of and after that's done, we're planning to get a place of our own."
Zoey was the next to respond. "Nando and I are going to be practicing for the next Pokémon Contest. So next time we fight Dawn, I'll be ready." Zoey then smiled.
Following Zoey's response was Suzy. "Frank and I are going back to the Hoenn region to compete in these new Contests called Super Contests."
After hearing Suzy's response, May smirked and responded with. "Funny you mention that Suzy because me and Drew are also heading to the Hoenn region, so we might catch up with you guys."
Suzy then smirked. "Maybe we will."
After the Coordinators had a good laugh about it, they all went their separate ways and left Slateport City.
But someday soon, they may reunite once again to compete for the title of the Ultimate Coordinator..
