"Well Ev, here we are, our own little corner the world!" Harry exclaimed setting the last box of stuff down on the floor in the entry way of their small but, cozy cottage in a small suburb in London.
The brothers had decided to move to England after the death of their parents the year before. Harry had gotten the part in the London production of Wicked as Fieyero. Evan had found his job as a vet tech in a small clinic in London.
The two brothers settled very easily to life in London. It was one day while Evan was out doing the grocery shopping for the house that he met someone who would change both of the brothers' lives forever.
Evan walked through the small grocery store, scanning the shelves for the final item on his list, a box of Cadbury Flakes. He had had one the first day they were in London, and had been addicted ever since.
Finally he spotted them on a high shelf and stood on his tiptoes trying to reach the box. His fingers brushed a box, and suddenly a whole row tumbled down on top of his head.
Evan swore and began picking up the fallen boxes.
"Need some help?" as smooth, deep voice asked him.
"Yeah thanks, I'm a bit short apparently," Evan said, looking up to see his rescuer.
The man was fairly tall, with freckles across his cheeks and nose and a mop of bright red hair. The man reached out a hand to help Evan up.
"I'm Charlie," the taller man said.
"Evan," he replied while they began gathering boxes.
"Where are you from Evan?" Charlie asked, "You don't sound British".
"It's pretty obvious isn't it? I'm from Canada. My brother and I just moved here a few months ago. We didn't have Flakes in Canada and now I'm a bit addicted" Evan said gesturing to the last box that Charlie placed on the top shelf.
"They are pretty amazing," Charlie agreed.
It was quiet for a moment as the two simply looked at each other.
"Charlie?" Evan asked quickly, before he lost his courage, "would you like to go for a coffee with me?"
Charlie grinned, "yeah, I'd like that"
The two of them visited a small family owned coffee shop around the corner from the market where they spent hours and hours talking about anything they could think of.
Over the next few months Evan and Charlie fell for each other. They spent days visiting London's landmarks and just lazing about in Evan and Harry's home, though Harry was never actually there when they were.
Harry frequently made fun of Evan for mooning about after Charlie, spending hours at a time on the phone with him, and then staring into space with a lovesick look on his face for minutes afterwards.
This was going to be one of the biggest nights of Charlie's life, and he was more nervous than he had ever been before. Considering he worked with dragons all day, that was saying something. Today was the day he planned to tell Evan, who had quickly become one of the most important people in his life, that he was in fact a wizard.
"Hey Charlie!" Evan's voice called out to him and he looked around, seeing him waving from across the street. Evan looked quickly both ways and then dashed across the street and over to Charlie, who he quickly wrapped his arms around and gave a quick kiss.
"Come on, it's freezing out here, let's go, sorry I was late, we had a case come in that needed x-rays, and it took longer than I was expecting," Evan said, sliding his key into the lock and pushing the door open.
The pair got settled on the couch inside the cozy little living area with the Chinese take out that Charlie had brought with him and began eating. They chatted about their day while they ate about their days. Once they had eaten and tidied up and both settled back down on the couch.
"Evan," Charlie said seriously, "I have something I need to tell you".
"Ok…" Evan said, slightly puzzled by Charlie's serious tone.
"Alright, so… some of the things that I told you about my life are not exactly true…" Charlie began.
"What!" Evan exclaimed, "what are you talking about".
"I haven't really lied to you, just omitted some details, there are things that I wasn't legally allowed to tell you," Charlie said quietly
"What?" Evan asked again, "Charlie you need to explain now!"
"Ok, so I didn't lie to you about being a keeper, just about what animal I look after, I actually work in Romania, as a dragon keeper," Charlie told Evan, "I'm a wizard".
Evan laughed but, it quickly faded away "you're serious aren't you? Can you show me?"
Carefully Charlie brought his wand out of his pocket, and pointed it at the coffee cups on the table, which immediately began doing an intricate tango.
Evan stared open-mouthed at the cups, "that is… the single coolest thing I have ever seen!"
Charlie laughed, all of his worries evaporating away, "you never cease to amaze me Evan," he said.
The pair spent the rest of the night talking about the Wizarding World, Charlie's family, and anything else that Evan could think to ask about. Deep down Charlie could feel that Evan was the one for him, the one he would spend the rest of his life with, and it didn't scare him at all.
