hello hello! well, it's been a long time since i've updated this fic, weoo

MARCELINE'S POV

And then I suddenly remembered that I was going to go celebrate with the rest of the gang. I apologized to Marshall, and explained that I still had somewhere to be. After that, I went to find the crew for snacks and dinner, courtesy of the boys. I guess, it took my mind off what happened with Marshall for a while—actually I didn't have much time to think of him. The gang was back—minus one member, of course—but we were all together again. And that was the only thing on my mind.

It was still around nine o' clock when I got back home. By this time, I had completely forgotten that Marshall said he was going home right after school. So before I went to my room, I let out my excitement by dancing all over Marshall's room for a while—maybe a few minutes. And then I noticed Marshall standing in the corner of the room, of course. I'm stupid, and I probably look even more stupid.

"—Holy shit, since when have you been there?" I asked, laughing. The fun of the dinner and the excitement of having the boys back was overpowering how embarrassed I was.

"Um, maybe a few minutes," he smiled, "you know… it's really good seeing you in such a good mood. It's also pretty neat that you pass by my room again."

"I always pass by your room," I laughed. "It's sort of the only way I can get to my room," I lied; of course it wasn't.

"Marcy, please, I've seen you. You have a ladder outside that goes to your room," Marshall said, "You only use it when I come home earlier than you though; but it's still pretty brave of you to be in the back yard at night—you know, in the dark, where things can happen, where things could be watching you," he teased.

"Well, I think the only thing watching me was you, Marsh. And of course I'd take the ladder when you're home. You could have a girl over or something," I joked. But it was highly possible; I mean it's Marshall. Any girl in the school would drop everything to spend time with him.

"Come on, Marcy, you're the only girl in my life, I think you should know that by now."

"If you're trying to flirt with me, I've had enough for today, thank you very much," I laughed, starting to make my way to my room.

"I wasn't flirting; I was just…stating a fact." Wow, oh my gosh, Marshall Lee stating a fact; totally not flirting. Yeah, right.

"Good night, Marshall," I said, before closing the door. He smiled at me, but he's probably going up to my room to bug me in a few minutes. I went up to my room, and sat down on my bed for a while, looking at the entrance to my room. Eventually though, I rested into another position. And a few minutes later, Marshall lifts up the door and rests his arms on the floor.

"Hey, um, Marcy, do you…you know. Do you want to... go out or something? You know, celebrate getting into the finals?" he asked.

"Oh wow, look at this; is the Marshall Lee asking me on a date?" I asked

"Maybe—yes. So do you want to go out for ice cream? I bet you want ice cream right now," he said, smiling at me as if it would make me say yes.

"Marsh, you do know that we're still enemies, right?"

"What happened to the truce? It's just ice cream, Marcy, and besides…we all know how these types of relationships end."

"I'm pretty sure this one's going to end with us both hating each other," I laughed, sitting down properly to face him.

"No," he said firmly, joking as well, with a slight hint of distaste for my answer, "we're going to get through this, proclaim our undying love for each other, get married, and have babies."

I laughed, and looked over again to my best friend who was hopelessly looking for a way to abuse the truce we just made. He had this charming smile on face, the type of smile that would make any girl fall in love. And I can't help but think that if we weren't fighting, this would be what we'd do often.

"Just oneice cream."

"Yeah, just one date," he smiled.

Oh, so now he's calling it a date, huh?
