Chapter 43

(On Friday morning, Emma wakes up, resigned to the fact that she is one more year older. She gets out of bed, puts on her dressing gown and slippers and saunters down stairs where she finds Henry, Snow and Charming waiting for her next to the dining table in the open plan kitchen/dining/living space)

Snow, Charming and Henry: Happy Birthday

Henry: Happy Birthday

Emma: Thanks kid, but guys, I thought I said I didn't want a fuss.

Snow: This isn't a fuss, this is your family greeting you on your birthday, now come on, open your presents, this one here is from your father and I and that one is from Henry

Emma: Okay, cool

(The four of them then all sot down around the table and Snow hands her daughter 2 cards)

Snow: That first one is your actual card from me and your father and the second one is just a joke one, I saw it and had to get it.

(Emma opens the first of the two cards to see that it is a beautiful card with a picture of herself and her parents on the front cover and an inscription that reads: We're glad we have another chance to send more love your way, as you deserve the finest things, on this your special day)

Emma: That is actually quite sweet

Charming: Open it Emma

(Emma then opens the card and sees a cheque for $200)

Emma: $200, guys ...

Snow: No Emma honey, you can stop right there, that money is for me and you to go shopping with, school finished yesterday and I thought that me and you could go shopping for a dress for you to wear to the costume party.

Emma: Costume Party?

Snow: I thought it would be a good idea for the whole town to have a costume party for some fun, everyone's feeling home sick and I thought it would be a good way to let out some of that energy, there'll be games and drinks and stuff, just like what we have back home.

Emma: Sounds like a good idea, okay, I'm in

Snow: Good, now open you're other card

Emma: I am, I am

(Emma open the second card from her mother and sees that it is a Disney Snow White card, she laughs out loud when she sees it)

Emma: Oh my god

Snow: I know right, Disney really need to get their facts straight

Charming: Here Emma, this is the present from your mom and I

(Emma then takes the box off of her dad and rips open the butterfly wrapping paper to see that he box is a cell phone)

Emma: You got me a new cell!

Charming: Yeah, Henry mentioned that you're getting fed up of your current one, so we thought you could do with a change.

Emma: Thanks guys

Henry: This is my card for you

Emma: Thank you Henry

(Emma takes the card and sees that it is a card Henry made himself, it is of the four of them outside the house)

Emma: I love it, thank you Henry

(Emma hugs her son)

Henry: Mom, you're squishing me

Emma: Oh, sorry

(She lets him go)

Henry: It's ok, here's your present

(Emma then opens the present and sees a personalised purple mug with a picture of her car on one side and on the other in Grey writing 'Best Mom')

Henry: Do you like it?

Emma: Absolutely

Charming: All right then, Emma, hands me your new mug and I'll make you your morning coffee

Snow: And I'll make a start on breakfast, is Bacon and Eggs okay for you Emma?

Emma: Yeah

Snow: Okay then, Henry, you wanna come help?

Henry: Can I?

Snow: Of course, go wash your hands

(Snow, Henry and Charming then go into the kitchen and Emma goes upstairs to get changed)
