A/N: Hey. As many of you may have noticed, I've been gone for a while. I stopped watching Pretty Little Liars and haven't really been interested in updating any of my stories. However, lots of people left reviews asking for an update and Alana Lissens messaged me asking so I felt like I should give this another chance. I honestly think this story is shit and have no clue on why you guys want me to continue it, but your wish is my command. Thanks for all of the reviews. I love them.
Disclaimer: I really don't own Pretty Little Liars.
"Byron, what on Earth do you think you're doing?" the voice asked.
Byron spun around to face his wife. "I'm going to kick some butt."
"Byron," Ella instructed, "put your clothes back on."
Byron ignored her.
"BYRON!" Ella roared. Her yell was uncommon as she was such a calm person. However, it was also very loud and frightened everyone, including Byron himself. "NOW!"
Byron spun around one last time and looked right at his wife. He saw that her face was filled with determination. After a few seconds, Byron released a deep breath. He automatically pulled his jacket on, and began re-tying his shoes. It was a sign of defeat.
"You came," he pointed out after a minute of silence. "I thought you said you were staying in Rosewood."
Ella took a step closer to Byron and then took a seat on one of the many pool chairs scattered around the deck. She looked down, took a sniff of the chlorine-filled air, and then answered. Her old, calm self was back.
"I told you that I didn't think that what you were about to do was right, so I came to stop it. I took the train because it was faster. Byron, you really need to calm down. Look at yourself. You were about to jump into a pool to drown a man. Is that what you've become?"
Byron was about to respond, but as soon as he opened his mouth, Ella continued speaking. "I want you to read the book. You need to read it. I bet you that Ezra here would agree. It really does give you a different point of view on their relationship."
This was that Ella had addressed Ezra's existence. He remained in the middle of the pool protectively wrapping his arm around Aria.
"Thank you, Mrs. Montgomery," Ezra said. He waited until he knew that Ella was listening to continue. "That really means a lot to me." He took a breath. "To me and Aria."
Ella shook her head. "I was never not on your side," she explained. "I knew that you were a good person, Ezra. I just needed to make sure that you and Aria were both okay and that you both were in a real relationship. This book was all I needed."
Aria smiled a deep smile and placed her head on Ezra's shoulder, mumbling a thank you to her mother.
"That doesn't mean it's okay for me!" Byron stated. He had finished redressing and now stood in position showing that he was clearly the Alpha Male. He hovered over everyone with a deep frown and compared to Ella's quick outfit, he was also the best dressed.
"What do you mean, Byron?" Aria asked. She removed her head from Ezra's shoulder and swam a bit closer to her father while still maintaining her distance. "Is the fact that I found love that impossible for you to grasp? You were in a relationship with your-"
"Don't." Byron cut her off. "Don't you even start." A husk of disgust whipped off of his tongue.
At first, Aria was taken back. She always avoided bringing up Meredith, but at the moment, Arai realized that she didn't care. Aria had spent so long hidden beneath a mountain of lies that for once, just this once, it felt good take a deep breath of fresh air.
"Why?" she asked him, making her voice firm. "So that we can ignore your mistakes and focus on what you think is mine? Byron, you were married when started with Meredith. You begged me to be quiet and I was, but now I won't be. Not anymore. You had an affair with a student, but I fell in love with my teacher. You ruined a family, but I started a new one. What you had was a fling, but what I have is real. Don't you dare tell me that what I have is wrong when the definition of wrong is written all over your face!"
A wave of terror overtook Aria after she stopped talking. She had never been so harsh to anyone, much less her father. Looking up, she noticed that Byron felt the same and had even taken a step back with shock. Aria was too scared to look into her eyes, so she looked down, whispered a quiet apology, then swam back to Ezra. She began crying gentle tears as she got near him and he enveloped her small body in his welcoming arms to comfort her.
"I love you, Aria Montgomery," he whispered in her ear after he kissed her forehead. He had hoped that it would be a silent whisper, but since there was not another sound on the pool deck, both Ella and Byron heard him loud and clear.
Ella smiled and stood up. "Byron," she said. "How can you not think that this is true love? It is. Ezra would do anything for Aria and she would do nothing but that in return. Don't you see? You sent Aria to this boarding school and Ezra left Rosewood. It was what you wanted, but destiny brought them together. Why can't you see that as a sign? Read the book, please. It'll give you understanding. Please do that for me."
"I can't accept this," Byron said after a long moment of silence.
"Then try."
"I need time."
"We've given you lot's of time, Byron," Aria explained, still in tears. "But deep down, I know you'll never accept us."
"I need time." Byron repeated. This time, Ella had had enough.
"Now Byron, you listen up. I'm not giving you another minute to think about your answer. I want it now. Are you going to accept your family or are you going to ruin it once more?" Ella sounded confident, but she was far from it. A part deep inside of her feared nothing but the worst.
Byron swallowed twice. He scratched the back of his neck and closed his eyes. When he opened them, he took two long stares at his wife, daughter, and Ezra Fitz. He closed his eyes again and made up his mind, making sure to turn away from the embarrassment it would cause him.
Byron Montgomery pulled out his iPhone, unlocked it, and called a three digit number. He placed it on loud speaker to make sure that everyone on the deck could hear it before putting the phone up to his ear.
"Hello, this is 911. What is your emergency?" the voice on the other line asked.
R/R: So, what did you think? Be sure to tell me in the reviews.
