CHAPTER 33
"All For One, Two For Tea!"

As he proceeded to descend through the tunnel of tranquil Light, Sora started to relax and feel extra exhausted. When a loud YAWN filled the air, the spikey-haired teenager took into account how Riku and Violet were looking at him. His half-stretched arms immediately flew down to his sides. Before any hint of a reddish tint could form upon his face, Riku smirked a little and Violet shook her head before giggling softly. All Sora could do was smile back; he knew as well as they did how laid-back he was.

All at once, Riku's eyes grew wide in alarm and he pointed straight into the tunnel ahead. "Hey!"

Wondering what had snatched the silver-haired youth's total focus, Sora and Violet turned their eyes into the distance. The serene Light was rapidly transitioning into the gloom of Darkness. In a matter of seconds, the entire tunnel was full of Darkness.

Sora's eyes started to wander around anxiously. "What's going on?!"

The answer came a minute later. A bright orange glow came from the Darkness. As it drew closer, Sora assumed it was a train's headlights coming toward them. He hastily shook off the idea, knowing there hadn't been a single train anywhere in the Realm of Sleep — or as far as he knew (which wasn't much).

The glow intensified until a large creature sporting orange and yellow stripes came into view. One look, and Riku could tell it was a humungous honeybee with silver-tinted wings and two arms. The orange stripes along its body were as dull as the yellow stripes alongside them. On the creature's head were three spheres glowing a bright shade of orange. It didn't take long for Riku to realize the glow they had seen seconds before was coming from the spheres; they were illuminating the tunnel so brightly it appeared to be a well-lit jack-o-lantern on Halloween Night.

As soon as she had observed the creature's being in detail, Violet immediately knew what it was. In a loud, yet clear, voice, she declared, "It is another wandering Nightmare!"

When the angel's words bounced off their eardrums, Sora and Riku instantly recalled how the last time they had heard such a term as "wandering Nightmare" was during the dive into the now-awakened Rascal's Dreamland. In a flash of Light, the pair each summoned their Keyblades. In turn, Violet summoned her own.

"Let's clear the way!" Sora called out in determination.

"Do not forget," Violet stated. "Those three 'eyes' on the head are the vulnerable locations. Destroy them instantly!"

Riku nodded before dashing forward with the other two. When the Nightmare spotted the trio speedily approaching, it waved its thin arms in a series of semi-circles. At once, a large group of smaller Nightmares appeared with a similar design and the same color scheme. In an instant, Violet grabbed Riku and the twosome's descent dramatically slowed.

"What are you doing?" Riku questioned in alarm.

"Our main target has summoned allies," Violet explained, indicating the tinier creatures around the honeybee Nightmare. "It is too hazardous to rush in and expect victory now."

Riku looked around in surprise. "What about Sora?"

It was then the two heard the shout. Gazing into the distance, Violet and Riku watched as Sora sped in and sliced his Keyblade clear through six of the smaller Nightmares. Once the creatures had seemingly vaporized, Sora proceeded onward. It was then, two of the tiny Nightmares came soaring forward and created a line of energy between themselves. In a state of worry, Violet hollered, "Sora! Look out!"

"Sora!" Riku chimed in with shock.

Their cries went ignored as Sora found himself slamming into the beam of energy before flying backwards in a series of spins. While Riku dashed forward to check on his friend, Violet tucked her wings under her arms before dashing at the speed of a beam of Light in the direction of the smaller bee-shaped monsters. As she neared her targets, Violet held out her Keyblade and tilted with such haste she began twirling in the form of a screwdriver. As the angel shoved her way through the minor Nightmares, the creatures were thrown aside and exploded into multiple showers of transparent bubbles. Like a jackhammer drilling into the pavement, Violet swirled straight into the larger Nightmare and destroyed one of the monster's glowing spheres. As shards of orange glass flew into the distance, the Nightmare recoiled in response to the attack while Violet used her wings to float back to where Sora and Riku had witnessed the spectacle.

"Man," Sora awed; his eyes were as wide as they could get. "Where'd you learn to do that?"

"You and Riku," The angel smiled. "Are you aware of how effective a twirling strike is while diving?"

Sora hesitation caused Violet to add, "Do not fret! It was a rhetorical question. You are not expected to provide a reply."

As Sora gave a nod, Riku had to smirk. There wasn't any doubt the brown-haired sixteen-year-old had not understood what the Angel of Dreams had explained. This result had been repeated several times back in Camelot and Sora had even yawned from boredom while Merlin was teaching Wart about "modern science" — although it wasn't clear what the wizard meant by "modern".

With a thrust of his Keyblade, Riku rapidly soared forward at such speed, Sora and Violet were unable to follow. The silver-headed teenager reached the Nightmare in a flash, only to have several beams of pollen-like matter shot at him from the monster's stinger. After miraculously avoiding the beams by zigzagging around them, Riku was looming over the enemy's head. With a shout of "Sorry!", he slammed his weapon into the Nightmare's head and smashed another orange sphere into shambles.

Seeing how Riku's strategy seemed to be working well, Sora rushed forwards and was in alignment with his best friend in a matter of moments. Following a thrust of his Keyblade, Sora stabbed the Nightmare's third and final sphere. The orange glow vanished while Sora and Riku rushed back to where Violet was waiting. Before their eyes, the honeybee-shaped Nightmare started to shrivel up before exploding into a flurry of bubbles that were sucked out of the tunnel in the same length of time it takes someone to blink their eyes.

Now alone in the quickly-brightening tunnel, Violet congratulated Sora and Riku for acting so quickly and carefully. When she told Sora how his reaction time seemed to be improving, the latter was surprised to learn how the angel had taken note of such unobvious information.

At once, Riku noticed how the tunnel of Light was coming to an end up ahead. Pointing it out to the others, Sora and Violet nodded in acknowledgement.

"Let's go!" Sora declared.

"What? You don't want to take your time?" Riku asked.

Sora shrugged. "Not this time. I'm ready for anything!"

Watching the pair discussing some random stuff, all Violet could do was shake her head and smile. If she was destined to have friends, there wasn't anyone else she would've picked other than the two Keyblade wielders.

"I am ready whenever you both are," Violet stated. "Do not forget, there are solely two Sleeping Worlds left to locate and awaken before your… our goal is accomplished."

Both Sora and Riku nodded in approval seconds before the group reached the end of the tunnel of Light.

After the tranquil tunnel had vanished out of sight, Sora, Riku, and Violet found themselves standing upon a dirt road. Riku took a moment to take in numerous hoof prints in the ground. Before their eyes stood a large building with tan walls constructed from bricks. A large doorway with an arch-shaped frame formed a short tunnel leading inside. Curious to know where they were, the three stepped through the doorway and into a large, open courtyard.

Looking around the wide space of the yard, Sora took into account a pair of towers situated on each side of a large building with enormous windows full of blue-glass. In the middle of the structure was a large, wooden doorway with two doors. The doors led from the building onto a large porch with two staircases leading down into the yard below. The entire structure around the group was in the same design and surrounded them almost like a castle. Noticing how the peaked rooftops were a deep blue color, Sora paused in thought to take in all the surroundings.

"What a strange world," he concluded. "It's nice, but it's a little too quiet… "

Gazing up, Violet pointed out an endless blue sky with very few clouds. "Even the expanse above is too perfect."

Riku placed his hand to his chin. "The Light is strong here… so where's the Sleeping Keyhole?"

At that exact second, a series of shouts could be heard. When the sounds of stomping footsteps steadily became louder, Violet turned to face the doorway. Noticing a multitude of figures rushing towards the open yard, Violet shouted, "Look out!"

With a leap in the air, the angel shoved Sora and Riku to the side and beneath a series of columns holding up the building overhead. Violet jumped in when the strange figures came rushing inside. As a shocked Sora and astounded Riku whirled around, they saw how Violet had pushed them aside to avoid being trampled by a flock of figures storming into the yard.

"Whoa!" an astonished Sora exclaimed. "That was close!"

"Too close!" Riku corrected in equal surprise.

"Correctly," Violet agreed. "It was too abrupt!"

Riku smirked, "I don't think 'correctly' is a word."

Violet folded her arms. "So? 'Mickey' is not an actual name. It is pronounced 'Michael'!"

This resulted in a small dispute, which was broken apart when Sora informed them, "Do those guys kind of look like Goofy?"

Taking a closer examination of the figures, Riku realized Sora was honest; the figures did resemble Goofy. They were wearing long, red shirts with tan pants, long white gloves, and dark-brown boots with a buckle on each. On their heads were tan hats in a shape similar to a cowboy's with the notable addition of a blue stripe around the middle and a white feather sticking out. What really stood out the most was a blue tunic worn over their upper bodies bearing a golden emblem in the middle with golden lining along the outside. Squinting his eyes, Riku realized the emblem was in a similar design to the famous Boy Scout Logo.

"Yeah," Riku muttered softly. "They could be his relatives."

Sora paused in thought. "I don't know… he never said he had any."

Violet put a finger to her lips. "They are chanting something," she whispered. "Listen closely!"

Turning their attention towards the individuals in the yard, Sora and Riku saw them all swinging swords with hand-guards at each other while dodging each and every swipe of the blades. As they continued to swing and dodge, the figures called out,

"So, if you think you care to kick some derrière you know that as a Musketeer you'd be so fearsome! If you believe you're manly, come and join our family! Soon we'll make sure you're a Musketeer!"

Sora was baffled. Unless his ears were deceiving him, the figures were Musketeers — just like the ones in the book he had read long ago. Re-recalling how Goofy had tended to use the phrase "All for one, one for all", the brown, spikey-haired Keyblader started wondering whether or not there was a relation (or some other connection) between the Captain of the Guard and the Musketeers he was watching. That very well could explain why Goofy would use the phrase. Yet, that still failed to elaborate why Donald had used the same phrase as though he automatically knew its meaning without Goofy ever telling the magician directly. Why was that the case?

Listening to the figures chanting away, Riku knew they were Musketeers from the moment he heard the name. Even though he wasn't quite sure what a "Musketeer" was supposed to be, the silver-headed Keyblade wielder knew they were something along the lines of a half-soldier, half-guard type of individual. Perhaps it was time he learned a thing or two from Sora, which typically was the kind of stuff he preferred to avoid.

The name "Musketeer" didn't mean a thing to Violet. As she listened along to the words the figures were chanting, the angel arrived at the conclusion they were intended to be fierce warriors. Apparently, they even enjoyed hacking their sharp blades at each other for no reason. Talk about unneeded violence!

As the three were pondering deeply, they overheard the Musketeers chanting away in louder and louder voices.

"All for one! All men of honor hear the call! Musketeers sing, 'All for one, and one for all!' All for one! Hey!"

As they continued to chant away, Sora recognized the saying "All for one, one for all" like Goofy had told him. The next time he saw the clumsy knight, Sora had to him about this place. Not only would Goofy be fascinated (as usual), but the knight would probably learn some things he probably never would've known otherwise. Now Sora couldn't wait to see Goofy again.

With extra loud voices, the Musketeers called out, "All for one and one for all! All for one and all!"

Following a final "All for one and one for all", the Musketeers headed up the stairs and through the large, wooden doorway. Their voices could be heard discussing something along the lines of "To the Mess Hall". A cloud of dust rose from the ground as the Musketeers headed indoors.

After the dust settled, Sora, Riku, and Violet noticed how the entire yard had seemed unchanged. Not even footprints could be seen through the entire length and width of the courtyard. The three began strolling out across the area, taking careful observations of how quiet everything appeared to have become.

"Remarkable," Violet said. "It virtually looks like those 'Musketeers' were never around."

"How about that?" Riku remarked in turn.

As he swept his eyesight across the yard, Sora caught a glimpse of a few individuals standing close to each other. Squinting his eyes, Sora thought he saw someone he knew. On the other side of the yard were a mouse, duck, and tall, hunched-over dog wearing the same clothing as the Musketeers. The noticeable differences were the duck's lack of boots and pants and the mouse's hat bearing a red feather and having a few tears along the edges. From the distance he was gazing from, Sora wondered if his eyes were playing tricks on him — the three strongly resembled King Mickey, Donald Duck, and Goofy. That couldn't be the case. Could it?

Recalling how Tinker Bell, Jiminy Cricket, Tron, Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Rabbit, Eeyore, Owl, and Merlin had all been in the other Sleeping Worlds, Sora started to question if the King, Donald, and Goofy were in this world. Glancing back at Riku and Violet, the spikey-haired youth pointed the three figures out.

Riku was amazed. "Is that really Mickey and the others?" he asked. "Yeesh! Those three are together in any world."

Violet crossed her arms. "I may be completely in the dark here, but who are you referring to?"

"Mickey, Donald, and Goofy," Riku clarified. "They're friends of me and Sora."

Violet nodded in return, even though Riku could tell the angel didn't understand what the silver-haired seventeen-year-old was talking about. This was definitely the type of reaction he would've expected from Sora — not the Angel of Dreams.

"Only one way to find out," Sora finally stated. He started to stroll over to the three individuals in the middle of the field. Riku and Violet were seconds behind.

As the group approached the trio, they could hear the mouse declaring, "All for one… "

The tall dog finished, "…And fun for all!"

The duck grumbled, "And three's a crowd!"

By the time they reached the mouse, the duck had stomped away in anger. In the process, the dog had gone off to look for him. Although still wondering if the mouse was the king of Disney Castle, Sora said, "King Mickey? Is that you?"

The mouse looked over at Sora, Riku, and Violet; a look of surprise was evident in his eyes. "Huh?" the mouse asked. "Have… we met before?"

Sora was shocked silent. If this was King Mickey, he sure didn't show any hint of being royalty. In fact, the mouse didn't even acknowledge Sora's identity. When Sora started to wonder why, he remembered how the same situation had occurred with some of his other friends. He turned to Riku and Violet. "Is this like what happened with Tinker Bell, Jiminy, and Merlin?"

"Don't forget Tron and Pooh," Riku added. "They're your friends, too."

Sora nodded. "But their worlds weren't asleep. Tron's world was awake and Pooh was in an illusion."

"For that matter," Violet spoke up. "You stated clearly how you had met Merlin in an entirely dissimilar world. It could be the same rationalization here."

"Huh?" a perplexed Sora said, unsure what "rationalization" meant. His facial expression showed hints of total confusion.

"She means Mickey and the others aren't really here," Riku clarified. "They're just figments of the dream like Tinker Bell, Jiminy, and Merlin were."

Sora took a few minutes to do some serious contemplation. The two minutes it took felt more like two hours to Riku and Violet. Finally, Sora summarized, "So… are we in some world the King visited that I didn't know about? One that's trapped in sleep somewhere? We're not in Disney Castle, and that world isn't even supposed to be asleep."

With a deep sigh, Sora muttered aloud, "I still don't get it… "

"That is the issue with understanding dreams," Violet said. "You are certain you can comprehend them at one point and then everything turns into a totally unforeseen direction. It can typically be to your disadvantage, too."

"Yeah," Riku approved. "Life works the same way. Murphy's Law seems to rule everything."

Sora shrugged, unsure if there was an answer he could give to the conversation at hand. Before he could even speak, a voice said, "You three seem confused."

Turning back to face the mouse, Sora, Riku, and Violet all nodded. As he uncrossed his arms, Sora's Keyblade spontaneously appeared in his hand. The others stared at it in alarm. Last time such an event had taken place was moments before the shower of acorns had suddenly descended from the top of the tree at Piglet's House within The 100-Acre Wood and formed the tidal wave of nuts. That time, Riku and Violet's Keyblades had also appeared. Why was Sora's the only one this time?

Looking over the weapon in Sora's hand, the mouse asked, "W-where'd you get that 'key'?"

Sora smiled before saying, "This? It's called a 'Key—'"

Sora cut off mid-sentence when he caught a glimpse of something in his peripheral vision. Wondering what it was, Sora turned to gaze into some shadows nearby. He told a puzzled Riku and Violet to wait before hurrying over to a shadow-filled section on the edge of the yard underneath a section of the building supported by some columns. Once he was underneath, Sora was pulled by his jacket collar and yanked towards a strange pair of sea-green eyes glaring through the darkness. A soft, harsh voice snapped, "Are you crazy?! You're not supposed to tell anyone about the Keyblade! It'll disrupt the World Order!"

Sora was shocked silent. The next second, he was mystified. The voice sounded like a girl's, even though he couldn't see much in the dark shadows. As his eyesight started adjusting, Sora thought he could make out the shape of a young woman of about seventeen years old. Judging from the shape of her body, he assumed she was slender and wearing a dress. Her hair was probably long enough to reach her shoulders and seemed to be even from there. Certain she was a figment of the dream too, Sora silently decided to play along. "Sorry… about that, ma'am."

The girl started to shake her head and Sora heard her sigh. "There's no point in hiding it," she murmured softly.

Following a slight gust of wind, a key-shaped weapon appeared it her right hand. Now Sora was more shocked than ever before. The strange girl's Keyblade had a hexagon-shaped handle with two triangular spokes at the end of the blade. With a calm voice, the girl said, "My name is Crystal. I am also a Keyblade wielder."

"I'm Sora," Sora nodded with his large smile. "Nice to meet you, Crystal!"

"Crystal giggled for a moment before asking, "So, who's your Master?"

Sora froze, unsure how to answer the query posed on him. He gazed out to where Riku and Violet were talking with the mouse they assumed was King Mickey. He turned back to Crystal before inquiring, "Talk to Riku and Violet. They're my friends and have Keyblades, too."

"Oh," Crystal muttered, glancing out towards the others. With a sigh, she stepped out of the shadows with Sora.

Taking another look at the young woman, Sora noticed how all his previous assumptions had been true. Crystal was slender and wearing a dark-green dress with long sleeves. She also had violet-colored hair that stretched just below her shoulders with a slight curved piece covering part of the right side of her forehead. Now he could also tell she had orange, plastic gloves on her hands, a blue hairband in her hair, red hiking boots on her feet, and skin that was nearly as white as Snow White. What stood out to Sora was a small scar in the shape of a side-ways, crooked letter "Z" on the left side of her face. Sensing a patch of Darkness illuminating from the scar, Sora started to feel a tad uneasy.

Upon reaching the others, Sora introduced Crystal to Riku and Violet. Only Riku seemed to be hesitant, noticing Crystal's scar like Sora had. It was then the mouse from earlier announced, "I'm sorry, Crystal. We still haven't fixed it."

Crystal squatted down to the mouse's level and placed her right hand upon his left cheek. "Don't worry," she said, trying to sound encouraging. "You three can do it, Mickey!"

"Mickey?!" Sora exclaimed in alarm. "So it is King Mickey!"

Crystal rose to her feet with puzzlement. "'King Mickey'? Who is that? This fellow was just made a Musketeer. He used to be a janitor."

When he heard Riku and Violet laughing softly in the background, Sora's cheeks started to turn red. He placed his hands behind his head and smiled to hide his humiliation.

"Are you sure we haven't met before?" Mickey asked.

At that moment, the duck and dog came strolling over. Sora saw them and exclaimed, "Hey Donald! Nice to see you, Goofy!"

The duck was so startled he nearly leapt into the air. "Waak! Who are you?!"

The dog squinted at the group. "Gawrsh," he asked. "Do I know y'all from somewheres?"

Despite knowing he could get into a detailed discussion of how the current world was fast asleep, Sora instead chose to act like he had upon first meeting the duck mage [Donald] and dog-knight [Goofy] way back in Traverse Town. He smiled and said, "Nice to meet you."

"What're your names?" Mickey asked the three.

"I'm Sora." Sora proudly stated.

"Riku." Riku nodded.

"My name is Violet." Violet smiled.

"Welp, it doesn't matter when we met." Mickey added. "Once we make a friend, we're friends for life!"

Crystal crossed her arms before gazing to her left. She sighed, "So true… "

Sora's mind began to wonder why Mickey's statement had made Crystal sigh. He shook it off in time to hear Donald say, "Hi! I'm Donald Duck!"

"The name's Goofy. A-Hyuck!" Goofy introduced, making Donald roll his eyes and shake his head. Sora shook his head and smiled — Donald had never changed since the time these events had occurred (sometime in the distant past) and when he had first met the duck in the purple-stoned plaza.

"Friends for life!" Sora confirmed.

"Yeah," Riku agreed.

Violet added, "Correct!"

With a large grin, Mickey said, "Now, we've got to get goin'. Princess Minnie's countin' on us!"

As Mickey, Donald, and Goofy turned to leave with Crystal, Sora called out, "Hey! Why can't we come along?"

The three Musketeers and young woman whirled around to face the group. "You three aren't Musketeers," Mickey explained. "This mission may be fraught with danger and bad guys."

"Bad guys?!" Donald gulped in fear. His normally black pupils turned a bright shade of yellow for a few seconds.

"Exactly why we need to help," Riku replied.

"Of course!" Violet approved. "Like they say, 'when the going gets tough, the tough call upon their friends'."

Riku glanced at Violet with a look of perplexity. "They really say that?"

Violet shook her head slightly. "No. It conveys nicer that way."

"Well," Crystal paused in thought. "I don't see any harm in it. It might just make a difference, too."

"Alright," Mickey smiled. "Thank you!"

"Yeah," Donald agreed.

Goofy said, "But, um… shouldn't we do that there 'thing'?"

"'Thing'?" Sora, Riku, and Violet all asked in unison.

Crystal and the others nodded, causing Sora to comprehend. Riku and Violet watched as Sora re-summoned his Keyblade and joined the other four. Mickey drew his sword as he proclaimed, "All for one… "

"…And one for all!" Donald, Goofy, Crystal, and Sora declared in return. The tips of their swords and Keyblades all united together like the framework of a tent. Riku and Violet both nodded in accordance with smiles.

Sora, Riku, and Violet had ventured into the Sleeping World of The Country of The Musketeers.

Inside the room, Crystal finally located the three janitors. As a flurry of bubbles passed her eyes, she noticed how they were clearly in a state of depression. The mouse [Mickey] was busy washing a bunch of dirty Musketeer tunics while his golden-furred dog [Pluto] was sitting beside him. The duck [Donald] was busy drying the tunics while the tall dog [Goofy] was trying to iron the dried tunics before returning them to the piles scattered around the room. After watching the scaffolding scene unfold, Crystal had learned the three's names from a random Musketeer.

Mickey sighed, "Oh boy… "

Crystal stepped over and said, "You shouldn't let anyone's words get to you. I can tell you have dreams, too."

Mickey nodded before rising to his feet and strolling over to Donald. "Hey Donald," he said with a smile. "Don't worry about what Captain Pete said. Cheer up! I'm sure there's some way we can become Musketeers."

"We can?!" Donald exclaimed in surprise. Now both the mouse and duck were smiling. They rushed over to Goofy; Crystal was moments behind.

"Hey Goof," Mickey said. "You know we can prove Pete's wrong about us if we just work hard and stick together."

Seeing Donald nodding in agreement, Goofy asked, "Ya really think so?"

"Hey," Mickey stated. "Have I ever let you down?"

Goofy chuckled. "No!"

Crystal smiled brightly while Mickey glanced at Donald and Goofy. "Just imagine, guys," Mickey explained. "Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but someday Captain Pete's gonna march in here and say… "

"Congratulations, boys!" a voice called out. Turning to face the doorway, every stared in surprise. Coming into the room was a large cat-like man with a red shirt, black pants, black gloves, a black Musketeer hat with a white feather, and a Musketeer tunic. He had a block boot on his left foot while a golden peg-leg was present on his right leg. "You passed the test!" he called out. "I've been watching you three, and I'll tell you what! You guys have got what it takes to be Musketeers!"

Mickey was clearly shocked beyond belief. "Really?! Y-ya mean it?"

"Cross my heart!" the man answered, even though Crystal had her doubts.

"Ho boy!" Mickey exclaimed before turning to Donald and Goofy. "Hey fellas, we're gonna be Musketeers!"

"Musketeers?!" the two exclaimed in turn.

It was only a matter of two hours before the three were dressed in their Musketeer uniforms. Now they were standing in the middle of yard before the man — Captain Pete, while Crystal was watching from the nearest corner.

"I knew we had what it takes!" Mickey cheered.

"Cause we're clever," Goofy added.

Donald nodded proudly. "And brave!"

"And together we're gonna be great, big heroes!" Mickey proclaimed. He drew his sword. "Whadda ya say, men?"

Holding his sword up, Mickey declared, "All for one… "

"…And two for tea!" Goofy shouted in turn before drawing his own sword. He swung to the right and almost hit Donald; the duck had hid behind Mickey when his hat was taken by Goofy's sword. The three looked at Captain Pete in alarm.

At witnessing such a display, the Captain of the Musketeers rolled his eyes while muttering, "Yeesh!"

From where she stood, Crystal slapped her right hand upon her face. The three new Musketeers had messed up — BIG TIME!

Taking all this in, Mickey, Donald, and Goofy all gave shy grins. Mickey stammered, "Welp… we'll work on it."
