A/N: HELLO THERE! IT'S FINALLY COME - THE EPILOGUE!
YES! WE ALL MADE IT! HIP-HIP-HORRAY! HUZZAH! HALLELUJAH! YES!
...Okay, I think that's Enough Celebrating. We STILL have The Secret Ending to go! After that, it's PARTY TIME!
REMEMBER, THERE SHALL BE A SEQUEL! AND THE SECRET ENDING IS STILL COMING! This Is The Result Of All 129 Reviews Posted On THIS Story!
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR ALL THOSE REVIEWS! THEY HAVE [REALLY] ENCOURAGED ME TO KEEP GOING WITH THIS STORY!
Of course, I'm sure you may have noticed how rapidly I wrote this Epilogue. Since I am officially done with classes for this Semester, I am planning to Complete This Story by the End of 2014 - THAT IS THE GOAL!
This Would Not Have Been Possible Without Readers And Reviewers Like You. So, THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR ALL THOSE REVIEWS!
In addition, I will clarify what I meant by "Musical Segment(s)" at the ends of Chapter(s) 49 and 50. I mean I will most-likely include the lyrics to various Disney songs in my stories. For instance, I used "I've Got A Dream!" back in Chapter 5 to carry the story forward. In Chapter 35, I included "This Is The End!" to add some humor and help the story flow. In Chapter 25, I even added "Adventure Is A Wonderful Thing!" to move the story forward.
So, do you personally think such "Musical Segment(s)" were helpful? Or should I only use quotations referring to them? Please let me know! I have a handful planned already - just in case!
By the way, has anyone figured out who those villains were at the end of Chapter 50? At least One person has tried, but I think I can shorten down the list for you (or not). I'll just say this: Most of them did NOT appear in the "House of Mouse" Scenario! I can also tell you some are from "Live-Action Movies", some are from "Animated Movies & TV Shows", and some are exclusively in "Comics/Graphic Novels". Of course, they are all STILL Disney Characters. You may want to do your research on Disney Wikia - That's where I got the majority of the descriptions, except I re-worded them.
In case you can't figure them ALL out, you can wait until the next story. It might be a little while - I Still need to finish planning out the worlds' scenarios as they'll most-likely be what carries the next story through.
So, That's ALL I Have To Say Today! IT'S TIME FOR THE FINALE OF "KINGDOM HEARTS - WORLD UNTO DREAMS"! KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN FOR SURPRISES - THERE SHOULD BE PLENTY IN THERE! PLEASE READ TO YOUR HEART'S CONTENT!
PLUS, PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO REVIEW - PRETTY, PREETY PLEASE WITH A CHERRY, HOT-FUDGE, AND WHIPPED CREAM ON TOP - TOO!
EPILOGUE
The Light In The Darkness
The sun was starting to rise over the sea surrounding the tropical archipelago commonly referred to as the Destiny Islands. The light of daybreak was producing a series of golden, green, and orange colors amongst the otherwise white, puffy clouds high above. The seagulls above were continuously holding what one could describe was a squawking competition. The only other sounds were the waves lapping against the shoreline of the main island and the gentle wind blowing around the palm trees and causing their leaves to flap a little. A scent of nice, warm ocean air amidst the cool night air could be detected for miles around.
It was during this nice, peaceful state when the sand started to stir and the ground began vibrating. A few feet down the beach was a girl jogging down the shoreline like she did every morning. She was slender like her mother and sported the same sandy-colored hair in addition to shiny, blue eyes and mildly-tanned skin. She was about thirteen years old and still wearing the pink shirt with matching skirt, red jacket, and blue tennis shoes she had for the past few years. Situated in her hair was a yellow headband and a small, red iPod was in her jacket pocket; she had a small set of headphones connected to it and was listening to one of her favorite songs.
The ground's movement grabbed her attention so suddenly, she had to switch her music off in a hurry. To the girl's surprise, a strange tunnel opened — one filled with the tranquility of warm, soothing Light. The passage was hovering a couple of feet above the spot where the waves were washing up onto the beach. Two individuals came flying out.
One was a young woman with violet hair, violet eyes, and seemed to have pale skin. She was wearing a violet dress with long sleeves and violet-colored shoes with points on the toes. Her dress had silver lining along the cuffs of her sleeves, collar, and the base of the skirt. On her head was a pair of dark-violet antennae, each with a tiny, scarlet-colored ball on the end. She also possessed a set of wings that were each shaped like a paper fan and had a slightly-brighter tint inside a violet outline. Around her neck was a necklace sporting an unique emblem. Plus, there was a gentle, violet-colored glow illuminating from her alongside a rather strong radiance of Light. She appeared to be an angel.
The other was a teenage young man of about age sixteen. He sported brown hair that was spiked like a sharp bush and azure eyes. His outfit consisted of a black hoodie with silver armor on the shoulders, a navy-blue undershirt with a red patch, black pants with silver-white edging and yellow straps holding them on with a black belt, and black fighting gloves each sporting a yellow line. He also had large, black-yellow shoes with silver soles, a zipper across the top, and black straps keeping them together with various buckles; they seemed about ready to slide off his feet.
Thanks to his shiny-silver crown pendant around his neck, the girl realized who he was. Her surprise quickly turned to shock, followed by amazement and then relief. She smiled. This was no ordinary young man. This was her brother — Sora Hikari.
She rushed down the beach the next few feet and jumped; her arms were stretched out.
With a deep yawn and a stretch, Sora took a moment to sweep his eyes around the immediate area. He smiled; this was his home — the island he had grown up on. The one he, Riku, and Kairi had longed to sail away from on their raft — something he and Riku had actually done in what he had later learned was an alternative version of the past. Of course, that had been ages ago… hadn't it?
"Sora?" a voice said. Sora turned to his left. He noticed Violet gazing at the sky above as well as the surrounding scenery. She was currently staring at the seagulls soaring far above; her wings were flapping with excitement. "What is this specific location?" she inquired.
Sora smiled all the more. The angel had taken the chance to examine the immediate area, and now, she looked really excited. He assumed this was because she had been trapped in the dreams inside the Realm of Sleep for too long.
"This is my island," he confirmed.
Violet stared at him with a smile. Without warning, she stared straight ahead and pointed in said direction. "Sora! Look over there!"
"Huh?" Sora asked. He swung his focus to the left. As he did so, a teenage girl jumped onto him, knocking him into the sand. He was rapidly squeezed tightly.
"I missed you, Sora!" the girl said.
For a second, Sora was startled and alarmed. Who was this girl? He knew it wasn't Kairi; she'd never do a thing like this! It couldn't be Selphie; she always slept in and it was too early. Besides, this girl had sandy hair and seemed to resemble a younger version of his mother.
'Wait,' Sora thought to himself. 'She does resemble my mom!' He knew there was only one possible explanation.
"Amemi?" he asked.
The sand-haired girl released her grip and rose to her feet. Sora clambered to his own feet moments after. "I'm sorry," she said to him. "I'm just so happy you're home!"
Sora had to shake his head. His smile returned. This was just like Amemi. No matter what she did to keep it hidden, her happy-go-lucky personality was always showing through. True, there were times he wished his sister wasn't so cheerful twenty-four hours a day and seven days a week… but he often allowed it to pass. After all, he was usually viewed by others as being lazy and somewhat overly-cheerful.
"It's good to see you, too, Amy!" Sora replied. He gestured at the angel standing beside him. "This is Violet. She's the Angel of Dreams."
Amemi stared at Violet. "Are you Sora's 'girlfriend'?" she asked.
Violet shook her head rapidly and waved her arms in front of her like an "X". "No!" she stated firmly. "No such stuff shall ever occur between the two of us!"
Amemi giggled secretly. "I was afraid I'd have to tell Kairi you don't like her anymore," she said to Sora.
"What?!" an alarmed Sora exclaimed. This reaction caused both Violet and Amemi to giggle aloud. Hearing all this, Sora smiled sheepishly and placed his hands behind his head and relaxed against the closest palm tree (it was less than three inches away).
"Sora," Amemi finally said once the giggling had ceased. "You haven't forgotten have you?"
Sora looked at his sister with confusion. "Forgotten what?"
"School's tomorrow," she said. "Today's the last full day of Fall Break."
Sora sighed deeply. He could not believe his ears. The whole five-day-weekend had flown by in what had appeared to be less than a day. Then again, it hadn't been a complete waste of time. He had gone on an amazing quest into the Realm of Sleep.
He'd made friends with teenagers and cyber-robots from another universe. He had helped a young woman with long hair gain the courage to leave her tower-prison. He'd been reunited with the fairy, Tinker Bell, and seen for himself how she'd found her true calling; he had also gotten the chance to fly as a fairy, too. He'd explored a cursed amusement park, been reunited with both Jiminy Cricket and Pinocchio, and learned about the events leading up to the moment when Rascal's Dreamland was lost to Darkness. He had helped Tron regain his memories and stopped an evil program from destroying the outside world; he'd also explored the world inside the computer system again. He'd gone on an adventure in The 100-Acre Wood with his friends, Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Rabbit, and Eeyore. He even got to meet Christopher Robin — someone he'd never heard of before then. He had been reunited with Merlin and watched the wizard help prepare Wart… Arthur, that is, to become the future king of England/Camelot. He'd also helped Mickey, Donald, and Goofy earn their status as Royal Musketeers, and even got to meet a "dream-version" of his Aunt Shelly, who happened to be a Keyblade wielder. He had even saved Mickey, "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" from the Darkness of a strong Nightmare. He'd explored the worlds inside some musical scores, watched mythological creatures living happily, and seen Donald lose, miss, and reunite with Daisy during a global flood. He'd even watched Riku and Violet become Keyblade Masters and cheered for them afterwards.
Yeesh! What a list that had turned out to be! It was official! His Fall Break had been anything but a waste.
Sora sighed. "Yeah… "
Amemi gave a short nod. "So, what do you wanna do today?" she asked. "We still have twenty-four hours left."
Sora paused in thought. At that exact second, a short, yet happy, squeal echoed softly in the air. It was rapidly followed by a meow-like sound. Whirling their eyes around the visible shoreline, Sora, Amemi, and Violet spotted a small, six-legged cat with pointed, red ears, an orange head and neck, yellow back, green legs, blue paws, indigo tail, and violet eyes. Hopping up and down directly beside it was a small, blue dog… or cat with playful, green-yellow eyes.
"A duo of Spirits!" Violet recognized in a flash.
Amemi gave another smile. "They both look very innocent."
"What are their names?" Sora asked the angel.
"Their identities are Hannah-ly and Pepper," Violet confirmed. She turned her gaze to the sky above and pointed. "Look in the clouds above! Here come Ryan, George, and Lindy — simultaneously!"
Both Amemi and Sora shifted their eyes up to see a dragon-like creature with a blue body and tail, yellow-green head, and dark-violet wings. Hovering next to it was a creature that was shaped like a bald eagle sporting a red beak and claws, blue wings and tail, and white feathers on its head. There was also a falcon bearing green feathers and wings, a sea-bluish beak, and yellow tail with matching claws.
That was not all. In a matter of seconds, several more creature appeared. One was a small, green hedgehog-shaped creature with blue eyes. Another was a goat sporting red horns, green hooves, a blue body, and a yellow tail. There was also a seal whose smooth skin was a slight-shade of grey; it was sporting a green, blue, and red-striped swimsuit that covered much of its body.
"Holly," Violet said as she recognized each of her Spirits. "Billy… Flippers… You are all present and accounted for!"
It was then an additional creature showed up. The three stared at it in surprise. It was shaped like a Tyrannosaurus Rex and sported blue eyes, yellow skin and tail, and red claws; it wasn't for its violet-indigo-colored teeth and friendly smile, Sora would have assumed the creature was a Nightmare in the Realm of Light.
Sora was still staring at the creature. "Violet," he started to say. "Who is that?"
Violet gulped a little in surprise. "Zackery," she marveled. The angel strode up to the creature. "Where have you been wandering aimlessly now?"
The creature started waving its arms around wildly as though trying to create some excuse. Unfortunately for it, Violet was too un-naïve to get tricked. She frowned at the Spirit.
"You should be well aware by now," she scolded. "You were instructed numerous times to never simply wander off wherever you darn feel like venturing!"
The dinosaur-shaped Spirit looked down like it was ashamed and dismayed. To Sora and Amemi, it seemed to be crying a little.
"Hey, Violet," Sora said. "Don't blame him. He's curious to see the outside world — just like I once was. You're no different."
Violet stopped what she was doing long enough to face the brown, spikey-headed youth behind her. "I comprehend," she said. "Yet, this is between me and my Spirit."
Turning back, Violet took another look at Zackery. When she saw the giant creature shed a tear, she sighed deeply. It was true; she had longed to explore the worlds beyond the Realm of Sleep for quite some time. She simply refused to allow anything hazardous to occur to her Spirits. Whether or not it was visually-obvious, Violet could not bear the concept of letting any of her Spirits be trapped in harm's way. They were like a miniature family to her, and she strongly believed families stuck together — no matter what!
Until Riku and Sora had entered the Realm of Sleep, Violet had never had any other companions, let alone friends. Her Spirits would remain her truest of friends — for how long eternity lasted.
"I am so sorry, Zackery," Violet said to her Spirit. "Can you please offer me forgiveness?"
The angel suddenly found herself trapped in a strong embrace with the huge creature. Seeing how the Spirit was smiling, she decided to smile back. "Thank you so much," she said, returning the hug.
Close by, Sora and Amemi had smiles of their own showing. It wasn't every day they saw an angel and a dinosaur-like creature sharing a hug. All the other Spirits around them smiled cheerfully. Taking this into consideration, Sora had to show them his famous smile. "Thanks, guys," he declared extra-cheerily. "You're the best — all of you!"
All the Spirits smiled back. One Sora and Amemi hadn't seen earlier suddenly swooped into view and slammed directly into Sora's face. He smiled when he realized it was an orange bat with blue wings, greenish ears, and indigo eyes filled with delight.
"Hello to you, too," he laughed aloud. This made Amemi giggle some more.
Violet and Zachery's embrace finally ended in time for them to see the bat-shaped Spirit smiling at Sora. Violet shook her head. "He certainly is very naïve," she said to herself. "Yet, he is still very intelligent and possesses a strong sensation of justice."
All the other Spirits around laughed along as Sora took the next few minutes to tickle, rub, and pet each and every one of them. Amemi had to smile and remove her headphones to listen to the creatures' squeaks, purrs, and miscellaneous sounds of happiness. She wanted to remember this morning for a long time.
Somewhere far away was a world of lush, green fields. A few green trees stood out amongst the otherwise deserted landscape. The sky above was blue and only a few puffy clouds could be seen for miles around. A long, dirt road led up and down a few hills before curving a little to the right and continuing to zigzag along into the distance. At one spot was a crossroads. If someone had been there at that moment, they'd have seen the silhouette of a figure strolling down the path ahead.
Further down that road, the sky grew darker until it was as black as night itself. The dirt road had transitioned into an icy path leading to a specific location. The figure stopped here long enough to gaze up at a gigantic structure. It was a castle with a golden exterior, stained-glass windows, and sea-green-colored towers that were peaked.
The figure nodded at the castle. A rumor had been going around that this castle was white inside. People had been known to stroll inside, but none had returned. Some claimed they had lost their way, but many said they were scattered to oblivion, which was how the castle got its name.
Castle Oblivion.
The figure took a rapid sweep of the immediate area. Seeing nothing out the ordinary, they proceeded to the castle's large, gold doors. Upon it, they reached out and pushed with all their strength. The doors opened and the figure stepped into a hallway that was white enough for one to say it was iced over. In fact, the entire interior seemed haunted and spooky. The figure knew better.
Deep, deep down, she knew there was someone inside. Her antennae were waving about somewhat violently. She had held this sensation for a very, very, very, very, very long time….
In the meantime, somewhere deep inside the golden castle with the pointed, sea-green towers was a chamber. Not just any chamber, though. True, it was the same whitish color of the rest of the building's interior, and it was a circular room. However, that's where the similarities ended.
In the exact middle of the room was a single throne shaped like a larger-than-life-sized armchair; it was also a whitish color. A series of chains decorated the floor around the throne. Each chain seemed to lead in a straight line from the throne to the walls of the chamber. From there, the chains seemed to climb the walls and cut off before the ceiling. In the middle of where each chain crossed the wall, a light-grey symbol was positioned amidst the links. It appeared to be the logo of Organization XIII, only upside-down. A glow of energy was travelling through the chains, starting from the throne and ending at the ceiling.
In the throne sat a teenage boy with brown hair that was spiked in the front and flaky in the back. He was wearing a short-sleeved jacket that was white on the right and black on the left, a grey with a single button underneath, and a plain, black shirt underneath that. His jacket (on top) had a red collar that was pleated. His pants were black with beige leggings, and his boots were shaped like an armored version of street shoes in shades of dull-green-and-gray. He also had two criss-crossing straps on his chest, which were held in place by a silver emblem. In addition, a chunk of dull, green-and-grey armor was located under his vest, and another piece of matching armor was situated on his left shoulder. He also had a checkered wristband with white edges.
The teenager was slumped in his seat and his eyes were closed tight as though in a deep slumber. For who knows how long, he'd been in this constant state of sleep.
That's when it happened. Following another deep breath, what appeared to be a cheerful smile showed up on the young man's face. Either he was having a sweet dream…
…Or there was something "special" taking place.
It was dark. So dark, you could feel it. Other than what was written in the Biblical book of "Exodus", no known account of such extreme Darkness had been published. In fact, it would have appeared to be nearly complete; not the slightest touch of a mere glimmer of Light could be seen for miles around.
The ground was solid and seemed to crunch like it was made of ice. The faint glow of red auras covering clusters of rocks illuminated only a little of the otherwise pitch-dark passage. The howling of a strong wind could be heard echoing down the tunnel. The stench of the Darkness was so horrible, it reminded her of rotten eggs combined with rotting meat. The air even had a taste; it was much like spoiled milk and molten lava.
She shoved all these sensations aside. After all, she had been wandering around for what seemed like years. Without any clocks or sunlight, it was impossible to determine how much time had passed. How long had it been? Weeks? Months? Years? Had an entire century flown by without her knowing? That didn't make sense; she probably wouldn't be alive anymore.
"It's been too long," she muttered aloud. What she would give to have a little sunshine… or at least, the sound of waves.
Something to remind her of home….
The sound of what seemed to be water splashing filled her ears. She froze in alarm. Was this her imagination? Had she finally discovered a way out of this place of Darkness? She had to know.
She started running down the tunnel. Her pink handbag bounced against her side while her red skirt flapped a little in the wind. Her recently-transformed-into-amber eyes were full of hope — something they hadn't done for who-knows-how-long. Upon reaching the end of the corridor, she stopped. Her sandy-colored hair moved gently as the smell of ocean air entered her nose. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Reopening them, she looked straight ahead.
A short distance away was a sandy beach. It wasn't like the ones from her home world. The sand was black as night itself and a number of odd-shaped boulders provided seats for anyone who might stumble upon the shore. Near the horizon, a tiny star could be seen; its light was nothing more than a mere shadow of the sun's brilliance.
With a deep sigh, she reached her left hand up and grasped the shiny, seashell necklace around her neck. The feeling she now had after seeing this shoreline was one she hadn't felt in ages.
It seemed like a home away from home.
With the urge to step closer filling her mind, she approached the waves. As she reached the water, the waves started to lap around her blue tennis shoes. She gave what seemed to be a smile — the first smile since she had arrived in this realm.
"Oh, hello?" a deep voice said. "It's not often I get visitors."
She swung her head to the right. To her surprise, there was someone else sitting on one of the boulders close to the waves. It was a man dressed in a black, hooded coat in the design of a black raincoat. The hood was on so securely, it was impossible to see his face. She stared at him in surprise.
"I'm Shelly," she said to him. "Who are you?"
"I cannot remember," the man replied.
Shelly was taken aback. "You can't remember your name?"
"I'm afraid not," the man answered a second time. "You see, this is my second time on these shores. Much like the first, I do not remember who I am or whence I came. Everything was washed away in whatever currents carried me here."
Shelly was both shocked and puzzled. Whoever this man was, he sure didn't seem to know anything. Then again, it appeared his memories had all vanished when he had first showed up. Of course, he said this was his second time around this place. She realized this meant there was a way out! She could escape and find her friend!
"Shelly?" another voice said. "Is that your name?"
Shelly spun around to find a young woman sitting on the beach. She had blue eyes and medium-length blue hair that was mostly parted to the left. Her outfit was unique in Shelly's eyes, consisting of a black-and-navy-blue high-collared top, a black corset with two pairs of white laces, and black shorts. Two pink straps intersected over her chest with a silver badge. On each of her arms were white bell-sleeves along with a small, segmented piece of armor. She also was wearing black stockings that reached about halfway up her thighs, and tan fingerless gloves. Two strips of blue cloth draped over each of her hips alongside a smaller, white strip of cloth tied around her waist. In addition, she sported silver boots were pointed and armored; a sharp "hook" was located on the outer side of each.
"Yes," a suspicious Shelly said, crossing her arms. "And you are?"
The blue-haired young woman gestured to herself. "I'm Aqua," she introduced. "How long have you been here in the Realm of Darkness? How'd you get here?"
Shelly sighed and took a seat between the two. She gazed out at the distant glimmer of sunlight. "I've been here so long, I lost track of time," she admitted. "I'm still trying to remember exactly how I ended up in here. All I know is I was searching for one of my friends, but I couldn't find him. Somehow, I took a wrong turn and travelled here."
Aqua gave a sigh. "That's too bad," she remarked. "I was trying to help my friends and couldn't let them be here."
Shelly was startled. "You're here because you took their place?"
Aqua nodded. "I had to. I promised I'd be there for them."
"Your friends?" the man spoke up. Shelly and Aqua shifted their focus over to him. "Somewhere in the scraps of memories I have left, you both remind me of a boy I once knew. He is very much like you — true to his friends and kind. This boy has travelled to many worlds and probably still fights to keep the Light safe."
"Yes," Aqua gave a nod. "You told me."
The man glanced at her for a moment. "I did?"
Shelly was perplexed. What was this man talking about? Had something taken place while she was trapped in this place of total Darkness? Who was this boy? For that matter, why did Aqua seem to know who it was? She had to know more.
"What do you mean?" Shelly inquired. "Did something happen? Are the worlds in danger? Who's this boy?"
The man looked down at the sand. "Sad to say," he informed the sandy-haired girl. "They all nearly fell to Darkness — more than once. But at every turn, that boy arrived with his Keyblade in hand to save the day."
Shelly was shocked. This boy had a Keyblade? Perhaps it was her friend! "Wait a second!" she demanded. "Was his name 'Carlos'?!"
The man shook his head; that was all Shelly needed to see. She sighed deeply. "Of course," she muttered softly. "I should've know that'd be the answer."
"How long has it been since I met him?" the man went on. "At least a few years now, perhaps more… Back then, my heart was clouded with vengeance. I did terrible things… both to him and his friends. I brought unhappiness to more lives than one. I felt something must be done."
"What did you do?" Shelly questioned. Now she was starting to grow more and more curious about who this boy was.
"While the boy slept his long sleep," the man continued explaining. "I hid the results of my research inside him — transplanting the data to where it might best serve a purpose."
Shelly nodded once more. "I wish I could help others."
"In fact," the man continued. "I would like to believe… Maybe he can set things right. A boy like him who touches so many hearts — he could open the right door and save all those people whose lives I managed to ruin. A 'True Friend' to those who know him, and a savior to those connected to him. His potential is unlimited, and I believe he is capable of so much more than he has shown."
Shelly wanted to know more. She looked at the man with a hint of curiosity in her eyes. "What's this heroic boy's name?"
The man hesitated in his response. "His name… is… "
Shelly sighed. It was clear the man had even forgotten the boy's name. Whatever it was, she wanted to know for sure. She had to know. Perhaps he could help her escape this place and return home.
The look on Aqua's face seized the sandy-haired young woman's attention. The blue-headed girl was smiling. "Sora," she said.
"Who?" Shelly inquired. At once, she remembered something from the back of her memory. The name her sister had once told her. She remembered it like it was any other un-ordinary day….
The sun was setting over the warm waters of the beach. Sitting near the bent-palm tree were two young girls. Each had sand-colored hair and blue eyes. One was wearing a bluish dress while the other had a red dress with short-sleeves. The one in the red dress was relaxing beside the tree while the other was sitting on the tree itself. They were both watching the sunset with smiles on their faces.
"Shelly," the girl in the blue dress said. "If you ever had a kid, what would you name it?"
Shelly was taken by surprise. "Aren't we too young to be talking about this?" she asked.
The girl in blue giggled. "I know what my kids would be named," she declared. "If it's a girl, I choose 'Amemi'. If it's a boy, I'd like his name to be 'Sora'."
Shelly shook her head. "Star, those names are stupid."
Star stared at her sister. "They are not!" she argued. "Mom said 'Ame' means 'rain' and 'mi' means beautiful! Dad told me 'Sora' means 'sky'! My name is Star! I want my kids to be named after the sky, too!"
Shelly yawned and stretched a little. "Whatever," she said. "I still think those names are stupid."
Star crossed her arms in annoyance. "One day, you won't be saying that. You'll be their aunt."
Shelly didn't respond. The two remained silent as they watched the rest of the sunlight set below the distant horizon. That was when Star reached into a pocket on her bluish dress and pulled out two ribbons — one golden and the other green. She smiled at her older sister.
"I have an idea," Star called out. "Let's make a promise."
Now Shelly was confused. "What kind of promise?"
Star handed her sister the golden ribbon. "Here," she said in her usual, friendly voice. "How about we promise to not make fun of our kids' names? They'll mean something to us later."
Shelly accepted the golden ribbon. She gazed at her sibling. "You think 'Sora' will be mean something to me later?"
Star placed her green ribbon over her head and tied it into her hair. She now had a small ponytail. "Please, Shelly," she said. "This'll mean a lot to me."
Shelly sighed and placed the golden ribbon in her hair. It didn't form a ponytail, but it did feel important to her. "Okay," she said at last. "I promise."
Star hugged her sister so suddenly, Shelly was caught off-guard. "I love you, Shelly!"
Shelly returned the embrace. "I love you, too, Star."
Something caught the attention of the older sister. Floating in the sea close by was a yellow, star-shaped fruit.
Shelly's eyes were filled with tears. Not tears of sadness, but tears of joy. The name "Sora" actually did mean something to her now. Something she hadn't considered for a long time.
Hope — the Light in the Darkness.
Gazing into the distant sunlight, Shelly gave a bright smile for the first time in what could have been years. "Sora… "
A warm feeling filled her body. Shelly wondered if Star had really had a son named "Sora" and a daughter named "Amemi". If so, perhaps now she was an aunt. Not to mention, maybe her own nephew was the one the man and Aqua had been referring to.
One day… someday… she would learn the truth.
