I own nothing except a few characters and the plot. There are a few Law & Order things included just to add some New York flavor.
TROOPS: NEW YORK
RETURN OF THE CHOSEN ONE
Everyone was busy running around preparing for the arrival of the Republic representatives.
"Radar!" Called Joe as he thought of a list of things that had to be done right away.
"Yes, Sir. You wanted me to make up a list for you." The Sergeant said as he showed up behind Joe with a clipboard.
"First thing, make this place look real GI."
"Yes, Sir. Hide every golf club and skateboard in the building. Replace the tile with the hole in the wall that allows peeping into the women's locker room and dispose of all of Klinger's dresses."
"The women's locker room. Plug that hole before replacing the tiles. Also, have senior officers report to me at 1500 for a meeting, make sure our files are organized properly, and I'm gonna want my office cleaned up. Get rid of the old pizza boxes in there, get rid of Klinger's Emperor cloak, and tell the fleet to get anyone with itchy trigger fingers away from their turbolasers. I don't want any incidents."
"Yes, Sir."
"Oh and before I forget. Klinger, no dresses, no cloaks, no skirts, no pretending to be the Emperor."
"Klinger shouldn't wear any dresses or other clothes that aren't acceptable for his rank and he shouldn't be acting like the Emperor while they're here." The two walked off talking over each other as Michael walked in and over to where Max was digging through a file cabinet.
"What are you looking for Walertin?"
"Application for a phone tap warrant. I'm intrigued to find out what else our chosen representatives are up to when they think no one else is watching." Michael held back a grin. He enjoyed exposing crooked politicians to the public.
"If you're now investigating political corruption related to your dead call-girl from Nal Hutta, I suggest getting search warrants for their homes and offices and talk to Ryan about getting their credit card statements. I know how General Felth is about things like this." Michael told Max as Ryan walked into the squadroom.
"Somebody say my name?" Ryan asked.
"Political corruption." Michael said.
"Special Grand Jury. Max, get me all your evidence and I'll see if there's enough for one to be convened to look into this whole thing."
FLOYD BENNETT FIELD - IMPERIAL ZONE
Tevin and Darnell had been tasked with preparing Floyd Bennett Field for the arrival of the Republic ship.
"He's going crazy." Darnell said to Tevin.
"Aren't we all. Last week Joe told some snot-faced Major that stood around doing nothing but shouting orders and blowing a whistle that he would find himself court-martialed, shot, and sent to the Russian Front if Antillies found something wrong here." Tevin explained.
"We don't have a Russian Front."
"Exactly. Check that out." They walked over to an officer throwing books in a barrel.
"What are you doing, Captain?" Darnell asked.
"Burning books, Colonel." The officer said.
"Any special reason I'm not aware of Captian Palpatine?" Tevin asked.
"I don't think the Republic should see some of the filth read around here." Darnell began looking over the books that weren't burned yet.
"Harry Potter?"
"Children practicing witchcraft."
"My kids read Harry Potter as does Myers' son as well as plenty of other kids and there's nothing wrong with them. I'm sure they have Harry Potter on Coruscant too."
"Plato's Republic?"
"Revolutionary ideas about Democracy. Palpatine would have never allowed that." Tevin said sarcastically.
"Right." The officer replied.
"Norman Mailer?"
"Profanity."
"You forgot liberal political views. Captain, you can not have open flame this close to a building. It's a fire hazard and if you keep burning books for nonsense reasons. I'm gonna have you sent to Afghanistan." Tevin said.
"After you've been court-martialed and shot." Added Darnell.
"Good touch. Now knock it off Pea-Brain." Tevin told the Captain.
"Yes, Sir." The officer said.
"And put this fire out." Darnell added.
Richie was given the task of dealing with Imperial Detention. He found the jail's Warden, Colonel Korek on the phone discussing nonsense with someone.
"That doesn't happen around here. I've never had a complaint about the quality of the food or entertainment here."
"Being ignorant of your command does wonders for reports doesn't it, Korek?" Richie asked.
"Colonel Terrik, a phone call would have been sufficient for General Rodgers."
"Rodgers, yes. Houston, no. She wanted someone to do a walkthrough here and find out what was really going on here before she finds some surprises when she gets here."
"She could have visited anytime she chose to."
"To see what exactly? The inmates strutting around like they own the place while you've ignored orders such as putting people on Suicide Watch or in The Hole?"
"There has never been an escape here." Korek said.
"Escapes that weren't a result of a clerical error, no. Suicides and inmate violence are other stories. Rodgers forgave those clerical errors. He understands that happens around here almost daily. Be glad Lord Vader isn't visiting here. The last Imperial prison that Vader visited, the warden there was executed on the spot for a mass escape and inmate riot while he was there." Korek sunk in his chair. He had been told about Darth Vader's history of on the spot executions for incompetent personnel. Richie looked a Korek and realized that his message had gotten through.
It was as Anakin suspected much to Obi-Wan's dismay that Erica was in fact Force sensitive.
"Was she assigned to a fleet somewhere that she escaped notice by Bryan Khayman and anyone else that would have known?" He asked Piett.
"Master Jedi Khayman had other priorities and she must have hidden it from quite a few people if not everyone. Maybe Ahsoka Tano got word to her about your former master's sudden appearance here. Of course being that Myers quickly became a thron in his side, he might have been too distracted to look for her since he was busy attempting to recruit another young and untrained Force-sensitive with a nasty temperment to serve his needs with both Myers and Khayman on his heels." Piett explained.
"Plus he had us, Streen, and Kyp Durron watching his every move from afar. I also think Qui-Gon followed him here since Myers somehow came into possession of Qui-Gon's lightsaber when Sidious tried to convert Michael's son into a killing monster. That's something I'm probably better off not knowing about." Obi-Wan said.
"Don't talk about me in front of the water cooler." Michael said.
"We were discussing Rex and the subject was steered towards you and Darth Sidious." That earned Obi-Wan a quick head-slap. Anakin broke into laughter until being head-slapped himself by Michael.
"You do realize that anyone who did that on the Executor would have been executed on the spot for insubordination." Anakin said.
"Only Ozzel would have been that foolish." Piett told him.
"More like stupid enough to think he was in charge and could do as he wished including smack me around. Back to the subject of untrained Jedi on Earth. One or two Little Skywalkers to train here?" Anakin quickly took off with Obi-Wan in pursuit shouting that he is not taking part in the raising of any more Skywalker children.
"Padme's gonna kick his behind when she hears that idea." Michael said to Piett.
"If Kenobi doesn't do it first." Piett told him.
HARRIS & PHELPS ACCOUNTING FIRM
Max and Erica walked into the office of the firm's co-owner Bernard Harris while he was in a meeting with a client.
"We're doing nothing illegal here." Harris quickly said.
"Not here about book cooking. We're here about a criminal enterprise that has your name on a list of clients." Max said.
"Maybe I should call my lawyer."
"Maybe we should go through everything here. I'm sure we can find some reason to stick you in a cell and lose your paperwork for a week other then charges relating to your involvement with prostitution." Erica told him.
"I don't know anything and she can't go through my trash without a warrant."
"That's not what we found out. Longer you stall, more time she has to dig through your trash."
"The Imperial Security Bureau takes violating US Code, Title 18, Section 1584 seriously." Erica explained.
"The what?" Harris snapped.
"Involuntary Servitude and Peonage 's not a far jump from smuggling slaves to smuggling terrorists. The ISB loves getting their hands on people who are suspected of being involved with terrorists."
"She can't do that and you people are embarrassing me in front of my client."
"So we can finish this chat at our place. I'm sure our favorite ISB Agent is hiding somewhere at the office, probably in a men's room." Max added.
"Rich told me it was a CIA guy that's always hiding somewhere at the office." Harris finally had enough of Erica's talking about the ISB and the CIA.
"All right, I confess. I used the services a couple of times, but I didn't kill anyone or whatever you're claiming I'm involved with." Erica placed Harris in handcuffs.
"Fine with us. Bernard Harris, you're under arrest for patronizing prostitution by your own admission."
