A/N Hello my lovely followers. First update of 2014! Before we start can I say two things?

1) Yes! The 'Mavis' is going to play a part in the story. A huge part to be honest. Hence it being part of the title and the summary? It's coming so you don't have to worry. I'm sorta 'building' up to it, so when it comes it makes sense. This is really confusing now, but, it will all come together in the end. I promise!

2) I have decided to split this chapter into 2 parts. The next part shall be updated soon. Okay?

UPDATE- Next Chapter will be out after I update this one! Sorry for the delay!

"Chemistry, French III, Calculus…" Lucy trailed off as she searched her locker for the correct textbooks and notes. She blew her bangs out of her eyes and reached her arm deeper in her locker. Moving her hand around, Lucy searched for the familiar feel of her History notes, but came up empty.

After a few minutes, she removed her arm and ran it through her blonde hair in frustration.

"I swear I put them in here." she muttered as she scanned the inside her locker. Spotting the notes in the corner of her locker, she cheered and snatched the papers out of her locker. Placing them on top of her other subject's notes and textbooks by her feet, she shut her locker.

Lucy adjusted her school bag's strap before bending over to pick up her huge stack of books and notes.

Five subjects; History, Calculus, Chemistry, French III, and Home Economics, had to be taught in five days. Lucy silently thanked Mrs. Aries for giving Natsu a D- in her English class; making it one less class to teach, along with PE and Health.

Lucy walked slowly towards the library, her and Natsu's rendezvous point, eyes glued to the stack of books and notes balancing in her arms. Her classmates streamed around her; talking on their cell phones, yelling to their friends, or running to catch their bus home.

The ending announcements were currently being broadcast on the intercom, although no seemed to being paying it any mind.

"Congrats! We raised a total of $475 from last Saturday's car wash. All profits will go towards the creation of our float, so be proud. Although, we still need more money. We will have more fundraisers on the way. In other news…"

She didn't hear the rest, as a passing classmate bumped Lucy's elbow, causing her to lose her hold on her books and notes. Lucy made no attempt - she already knew it would be in vain - to catch her things as they crashed and scattered across the floor. She sighed in defeat as she watched her History and Chemistry notes flutter to the ground before landing by her feet.

She reached down and grabbed them, once again, before getting on her hands and knees to gather her other things. After a few minutes , she managed to gather everything into a pile.

Lucy stood up and and began picking up her scattered stack from the ground. This proved to be harder than previously imagined. Every time she tried to pick them off the floor, a book or note would slide off the top, causing her to stop, and chase after it again.

"Need help?" asked a male voice from behind her.

Lucy looked over her shoulder to see Jellal squatting on the ground; her French book and notes tucked under his arm. He stood up and offered her a hand which she gratefully accepted.

"You are a saint." said Lucy when Jellal took the books from her arms, leaving her to gather the remaining ones on the ground.

"Anything for a friend." he answered simply.

Once they had everything, the pair took off side by side down the hall.

"Destination?" Jellal asked, looking at Lucy out of the corner of his eye.

"Library. I'm meeting Natsu there for tutoring."

Jellal nodded, "I'm going to assume I won't be seeing you in the club this week then?"

Lucy laughed and nodded. "Yeah. I cleared it with Erza this morning when I dropped off my answers for the paper. She seemed a bit hesitant at first, but eventually agreed to it." She paused for a beat. "I am pretty sure Mira had something to do with the decision."

Jellal chucked and adjusted the books in his arms before answering. "I bet she did. Are you tutoring him in Chemistry or History this time?" he asked

"Both, along with French III, Calculus, and Home Economics."

Jellal whistled and glanced down at the books in her hands. "I guess we won't be having the "Mavis Special" this week."

"What special?" Lucy asked as walked out of the front doors of the school.

"It was Wendy's idea. Because you are the most read column in the paper she thought we could have an issue where you answer more than one question. Erza approved and we started calling it the 'Mavis Special'. She was predicting it will be a hit this week."

Lucy's mouth dropped open. Jellal, noticing Lucy worried expression, rushed to correct himself. "No! No, no, no. Not this week! We can just do it next week when you have time."

Lucy shut her mouth and shook off Jellal's worries, "It just took me off guard that's all. So, how many questions are we talking about?"

"Erza was thinking about five. Maybe more, maybe less."

"Sounds fun."

"Glad to hear you agree." Jellal stopped walking, causing Lucy turn and look at him in confusion.

Jellal laughed at the blonde's expression before using his chin to point at the building in front of them. "We're here."

Lucy looked up and noticed Jellal was correct. They were standing at the entrance of the school's library. The library itself was nothing special, just a brick building located on the far end of campus. Although, looks were deceiving. Inside, library held more books than Lucy could fathom. It was a literally any book worm's paradise.

Still laughing, Jellal gently placed his share on top of Lucy's. "Good luck with Natsu."

Instead of answering, Lucy stared at the blue-haired male in surprise.

"What?" asked Jellal

"I never noticed before, but you have a really nice smile. You should do it more." answered Lucy giving him a smile of her own.

Jellal froze and Lucy giggled when she saw a blush creep up his neck.

"Thanks." he said while looking at his shoes.

Lucy watched Jellal turn around and make his way back to the main building; hands in his pockets.

"Hey Jellal!" called Lucy after a few seconds.

At the sound of his name Jellal paused and turned around.

"Thanks for your help!"

Jellal nodded and shot her a thumbs up before turning back and starting again towards the school.

Lucy sucked in a big breath as she closed her eyes.

"Here we go" Lucy thought, as she let out the air in a gust and reopened her eyes.

Taking a couple steps forwards, she let the automatic doors open before continuing inside. The air conditioning blasted in her face, blowing her hair into tangles behind her, as she walked through the doors. Once she made it inside, the doors slid shut behind her. Lucy scanned the inside of the library searching for Natsu.

Glancing at the digital clock on the wall beside her, Lucy noticed she was thirteen minutes late.

Oops.

"Maybe he won't notice." she said to herself.

She began walking towards the back of the room where the tables were located. To her right, were the continuous shelves and shelves of books that reached up to the ceiling. They even had to install ladders to get to the pesky books on the tip top rows. On her left, the computers, printers, and scanners were set up. Also in this area was Mrs. Aquarius's, or the librarian's, office. Although Lucy didn't spot her, she unconsciously became quieter with her movements. Mrs. Aquarius was well know for her hot temper when she was disturbed by loud noises in the library.

Her method of punishment? Her urn. The dreaded vase attack was the what made her so feared. Lucy had heard from Levy that Mrs. Aquarius had sent multiple students to the hospital because of it. Especially if you disturbed her while she was in the middle of texting her boyfriend.

Lucy peeked around the closest shelf of books looking for the familiar pink. Out of the corner of her eye, Lucy spotted a flash of black and white that resembled dragon scales coming around behind her.

Gotcha.

She turned to greet Natsu, but didn't have the chance when he came sprinting headlong down the aisle directly towards her.

"LUUUUCCY!" he yelled and tackled her around the waist. The force of the tackle sent Lucy flying backwards and land in a heap on the ground.

Lucy felt like she could cry when she saw her things fall and scatter on the ground...again.

"I just picked those up, Natsu!" Lucy whined slapping the ground with her palms.

Natsu jutted out his lip in a pout. "You're late. I thought you weren't going to show up."

Lucy cringed inwardly. He had noticed.

"I promised I would show up." said Lucy, patting him on the head.

Natsu let go of her waist and sat back on his knees. "I thought since you have to write for your paper and everything, you would cancel."

Lucy shock her head, "I already cleared it with Erza. I'm free all week."

Natsu face brightened considerably at this. "I have you all week?"

Lucy rolled her eyes at his question, "Yes, all week."

"Great!" Natsu said, "I'm all fired up!"

Lucy got up and began gathering her books together. She reached to grab her notebook, but, before she could, Natsu snatched it away.

"Come on, Luce. " he said, as he also stood up and quickly picked up everything off the ground. He didn't wait to see if Lucy was following before taking off again.

"Natsu! Wait!" called Lucy after Natsu retreating figure.

Lucy snatched up only thing Natsu had missed; her Home Economics book. Tucking it under her arm, she ran after Natsu.

"I don't get it!" said Natsu in frustration as he stared at the Calculus problem in front of him.

Lucy glanced up from her book she had been previously reading to look at Natsu's worksheet.

"What don't you get?" asked Lucy as she leaned over to see the problem more clearly.

f(2)=4, f ' (2)= -2, g(2) = 5, and g ' (2) = 3

Find the value of (fg)'(2)

"You are over thinking it." said Lucy, grabbing the pencil from Natsu's hand.

She scooted her chair closer to Natsu's and pulled the worksheet towards herself. Using the pencil, she quickly wrote an equation on the paper before leaning back for Natsu to see.

(fg)' = f * g' + g * f ' = 4* 3 + 5 * (-2)

"It is the Product rule." she said in a matter of fact tone. She tapped her pencil's eraser on the equation before continuing, "Now all you have to do is follow the equation and you're done."

She handed Natsu his pencil and worksheet back and watched as he leaned over the paper to write. A few seconds later, Natsu sat up and looked at Lucy with cation.

"Two?"

Lucy smiled, "Good job."

"Yes! Now we can have Break time." said Natsu

Almost immediately after saying this, he slumped forward burying his head into his arms. Lucy watched wordlessly as the male's breaths became slower and deeper.

Did he just fall asleep?!

Lucy experimentally poked him in the shoulder. When he gave no reaction she poked him again, this time harder.

Natsu gave a small stir and mumbled something inaudible under his breath.

"Natsu?" she whispered, poking him in the head this time.

Natsu reached up, batted her hand away, before crossing it over his head. Lucy shook her head in disbelief. There was no doubt. Natsu had fallen asleep in a matter of seconds.

Lucy blinked, still unable to understand what had just happened.

"That's amazing." she said, watching as Natsu slept.

'No wonder he can fall asleep so fast in History.' she thought

Natsu mumbled something again and gave a small sigh. Curious, Lucy leaned in closer tilting her head for a better angle. When Natsu mumbled again and Lucy caught what he said.

She quickly backed away, a slight blush dusting her cheeks.

Did he just-?

Lucy shook her head trying to erase the memory of Natsu mumbling her name in his sleep.

'There is no way.' she thought as she shook her head.

She leaned forward again and listen.

"...Lus...hi." he said, reaching his hand out.

She gave a small jump when his hand made contact with her hair. He ran his fingers through her hair gently before sighing again.

Cautiously, she reached up and removed Natsu's hand from her hair. She set it down gently just as a frown appeared on Natsu's face.

"...No, Lucy." he protested, raising his hand back up.

Lucy ducked her head out of the way, just as his hand came down where her head was previously. He gave another grunt in dissatisfaction before turning his head the other way and continued sleeping.

' "Lucy, Natsu likes you." '

Oh great. Perfect timing Mirajane.

Lucy shook her head again, now trying to rid herself of two memories.

' "Natsu can be a bit slow sometimes." '

No, no, no, no, no, NO!

' "Don't worry, Lucy, he will come around...' "

"Stop!" yelled Lucy as she stood up in her chair and slammed her palms on the table.

The sound of Lucy's commotion caused Natsu to suddenly snap awake. His eyes shot open in alarm as he snapped his head up to look at Lucy.

"Lucy?!" cried Natsu, "What happened?"

He grabbed her hand and jumped to his feet, causing his chair to fall back with a loud thunk.

"Are you hurt? Did someone hit you? If someone did, tell me, so I can go beat them to a pulp!"

Lucy shook her head, unable to answer verbally in fear of her voice wavering. Natsu got her message and dropped her hand.

"So...why did you yell?" he asked curiously, craning his neck to see her face.

Lucy turned abruptly so her back was to Natsu, "Nothing. It was-" she cleared her throat, "It was nothing. Nothing at all."

She took a breath in trying to calm her flaming cheeks. Her blush had mostly disappeared, but that didn't mean Natsu wouldn't notice it.

"We should continue with Calculus, Natsu." She turned to face him and smiled. "After all your test is tomorrow."

Natsu's face dropped at the thought of math and he glared at the unfinished worksheet on the table, "I guess."

He moved to sit, but, stopped when Lucy grabbed his shoulder, preventing him from moving further.

"Luce?" asked Natsu, "Is something wrong?"

She didn't answer him and Natsu noticed she was too busy staring in horror at something approaching from the left side of the library.

"On second thought, we should leave...now." she said in a strained voice.

Natsu opened his mouth to ask why, only to stop when he heard it. The sound of heels tapping on the tile floor as they made their way towards their table.

"We should.." started Lucy, still staring at their approaching doom that was Mrs. Aquarius.

"Run?" finished Natsu as he began packing up their stuff.

"Tch. Making such a racket in the middle of a library. Don't take me so lightly, you brats!" yelled Mrs. Aquarius as she continued making her way down the aisles towards Lucy and Natsu.

"Finished!" cried Natsu proudly as he observed his pile of their things.

Lucy snapped out of her reverie long enough to observe their situation.

"There is no way, Natsu! We can't carry all that!" she said, looking at the huge pile that mostly consisted of her things.

A shadow fell over the pair, and what little hope they held of escape vanished.

"Tch." said Aquarius as she raised her urn over her head in preparation.

"And this is how I die." whispered Lucy quietly.

A/N- I have noticed something. I have a ton of editing to do for this story. I read it while I was writing and I winced more than once at my grammar and random mistakes. I'm thinking of going on a spree sometime this week and just editing everything. No doubt this chapter will be among them. Fun, right?

Don't forget to leave a review!
