A/N I could write a huge apology for my absence and bore you all to pieces, but I won't. Instead, I present the newest chapter, enjoy!
Other News: Thanks to ChildOfSea for sending me a PM and requesting for me to start writing. It means a lot to know you like my writing so much to type out a PM!

Dear Mavis,
HELP ME! I did HORRIBLE on the my History exam last week and my teacher told me if I don't ace this coming semester, I'm guaranteed extra classes during the holiday break. I CAN'T TAKE CLASSES DURING THE BREAK! I WON'T!
- Drowning in School Work
Dear Drowning,
Seeing as you used capitalized letters for most of that letter - either that or your computer is stuck on Caps Lock - I have devised an easy three step plan for you to complete:
First step: Take a deep breath, and count to 20.
Second step: Take another breath and count to 10.
Third step: Still find the itching need to write in caps? Repeat steps 1-2 until satisfied. If not, you have completed my plan and are official calm-ish.
Continuing on.
Notes are essential in class, so if you aren't taking them you need to start. Then, review them at night , this should help with remembering and understanding the concept and what was covered in class. I would also recommend asking plenty of questions in class and looking for extra credit to help bring up your grade - homework, classwork, and tests can only aid you so much. If you are still struggling, you can ask one of your friends to tutor you.

No sooner had Lucy lifted her pencil off the paper then had Mirajane swooped down and snatched it off her desk.
"Mira!" said Lucy, surprised.
"Time is ticking. We have to get these out as soon as possible." she replied over her shoulder, placing the paper on top of her stack containing the finished papers for Fairy Weekly.
"Need help with the copying?" Lucy offered.
"That's okay. It shouldn't take me too long." Mirajane said. "But I know Levy might need help passing them out later."
"No problem. What time?"
"In a few minutes actually." Mirajane frowned and pushed a button on the copy machine. When the machine gave no response, she kicked it, "Or whenever this machine decides to start working." she said, her tone annoyed.
She kicked the copy machine again, this time the copier began to rumble loudly and the power button glowed brightly before fading into a weakly glow; signalling it was going to power down. When Mirajane saw this, she sighed and set down her stack on the floor before fiddling with the control panel, trying to reboot the system.
"Have you tried turning it off and on again?" Lucy joked lightly, standing up from her desk and walking over to help.
"Very funny. I still haven't quite gotten the hang of this new copier. Every time I try to copy anything it just shuts down on me." Mira ducked down to look under the machine, "Do you think it is out of ink?"
Lucy shook her head. "Jellal filled it yesterday. Maybe you knocked a wire loose?"
"You think?"
Mirajane pushed the copier away from against the wall, far enough so she could squeeze behind it and reach the cables connecting the copier to the wall. Lucy crouched down and watched Mira mess with the tangle of colorful cables plugged into the wall.
"What about that one?" opted Lucy pointing out a white cable hanging listlessly among the cords.
"Wasn't that always unplugged?" asked Mirajane.
"Maybe?"
"What about this one?" Mirajane raised an orange cable off the ground for Lucy to see.
"No," Lucy countered. "That's for the lamp no one uses. Which remind me, we really need to get rid of that."
"Well," Mira drawled and glanced back down at the cables, "I can honestly say I have no idea what I'm doing."
"Ditto."
"All in favor of hunting down Levy and getting her to fix it?"
"Agreed." Lucy stood up. "Do you remember where she is? I can go find her and brin-"
The rest of Lucy sentence was cut off by the door slamming open and Levy sprinting in, clearly out of breath from running over.
"Who is that?" Mira asked, unable to see Levy's face from behind the copier.
"The girl we were looking for." Lucy answered, surprised, "What are you doing here?" she asked Levy.
Levy held up her forefinger in the universal sign for her to wait a minute. She bent over and rested her hand on her knees for a moment before sucking in a deep breath and straightened up again.
"There is a huge line for the paper. I came to see what is taking so long with the copying." Levy said, once her breathing returned to normal.
"Uh," Lucy motioned to the copier, "It just kinda stopped working all of a sudden and we don't know how to fix it."
Levy raised a brow, "That's it? Alright. Let me see if I can fix it."
She walked over to the copier and began to fiddle with the copier's control panel. Lucy peeked over her shoulder and watched as Levy opened the top of section of the machine, in order to place one of the newspapers underneath, before setting it back down. She bent down and began pulling out the paper trays, checking to see if they needed to be re-filled.
"Mira, can you check to see if there is a white cord unplugged?" Levy asked, pushing the paper trays back into the machine having confirmed their contents filled.
"A white one? Yeah, I see one."
"Plug it in."
There was a pause, "Okay, now what?"
"On that same wire there should be a small on and off switch attached. Turn it off then back on."
At this, Lucy cracked up. Levy shot her a confused look, which in turn only made her laugh harder. Raising her hand to stifle her laughter, Lucy heard Mira's quiet giggle from behind the copier.
"Am I missing something?" Levy asked, glancing between her two laughing friends, mystified.
"No, no. We're fine. Just keep going." said Lucy, still giggling at the irony.
"I'm already done." Levy pointed at the copier and Lucy noticed it had begun flashing and spewing out copies of the newspaper, "You just keep kicking the wire loose every time you use it, Mira."
"I'll have to work on that." remarked Mirajane, emerging from behind the copy machine and pushing it back against the wall. She grinned over at Lucy.
"I never took you to be a tech savvy person, Lucy. I stand corrected."
"You and me both."
Levy picked up the finished newspapers and began stapling them together. Mirjane and Levy grabbed their own staplers to help. In a matter of minutes, they had assembled three stacks of finished newspapers, which each of them took in their arms.
Levy was the first to the door, and held the door open for the two with her foot. Once they were out, she took off down the hall in a brisk walk; Mirajane and Lucy lagging behind.
"Woah, slow down. Kaby still has three months to write the sequel," Mirajane teased. Levy only walked that fast for two reasons: she was late, or their was a huge sale at the bookstore for her favorite author.
"You will understand when we get outside."
"Outside?" Lucy asked.
They usually sold the paper inside of building, near the front doors of the school. They had plenty of room to spread out and they could catch the students coming through to get to their classes. Afterwards, the office staff would volunteer to clean up everything so they could get to class on time.
"What did you mean when you said 'outside'?" asked Mirajane, thinking along the same lines as Lucy, "Don't we always hold it inside?"
"That's why I said you will understand when we get there. It kinda something you have to see."
"If you say so," muttered Lucy at the same time Mirajane asked, "What's that?"
Lucy looked over her stack to the source of Mirajane's surprise: the front off the school where they were to set up. Her mouth dropped.
The small space - which should have been vacant since it was only eight in the morning - was packed full of students. So much, in fact, that a mass majority couldn't move than a few feet without accidentally colliding into someone else.
It was like a flash mob that had gone horribly wrong. Everyone had show up in their matching outfits but had forgotten the dance moves and music, leaving them to stand around awkwardly waiting for something to happen.
And that something was them.
"And we aren't even outside yet." said Levy, pleased by their stunned reactions.
"There's an outside?" Lucy said, still in shock.
"Sure. Everyone who couldn't fit inside was left to stand outside. Imagine this scene, but add wind and 50% more irritated teens and you have the current condition of outside those doors." She jerked her head to motion to the glass doors on their right. "Erza had us set out another table outside."
"So when you were saying the worst was outside you meant. . . ?" Mirajane prompted.
Levy nodded, "It's hectic out there. Apparently, word spread fast about the Mavis Special and people tried to arrive early. Too bad ¾ of the student body had the same plan."
"Not to make the situation worse or anything, but we only printed enough papers for the usual crowd." said Mirajane.
"She's right." agreed Lucy, "We are going to sell out in a matter of minutes."
"Already thought of that. I was thinking we should send Jet over to start copying again while me and Mira cover the outside table for him." explained Levy.
Lucy grinned, "That's perfect! Jet can run faster than all three of us which should make up for the bigger amount of trips he has to make back and forth."
"It's settled then!" said Levy, excited, "You go help Jellal with the main table and we will go let Jet know. Wish us luck?"
"Luck!" Lucy called. Her two friends opened the glass door and, in an instant, were sucked into the crowd outside.
Turning her attention back onto her own crowd, Lucy spotted a flash of blue hair standing out from the kaleidoscope of yellow, black, blue, and white of their school uniforms. He was about 20 feet away from her, which would have been a rather short distance if she wasn't about to battle her way over there.
She sucked in a deep breath, mentally preparing herself, and dove in.
A few minutes later, Lucy was absolutely 100% positive she hated crowds. Between juggling the stack of newspapers and apologizing to every person she hit - which was just about everyone - her patience was running on borderline thin by the time she made it to Jellal.
However, her own irritation evaporated once she noticed Jellal's own circumstances.
"I'm sorry. One of my friends went to go see what was taking so long with the copying. They should be back any minute now." explained Jellal politely to an older looking girl, who looked just about as peeved as Lucy had felt a few seconds ago.
"Do you know how long I've been waiting?" she said, her obvious annoyance twisting in her tone.
"Karen, like I said. . ." Jellal started.
"Yeah, yeah." Karen waved off his explanation with flourish. "Your friend went to go see what the hold up is. I know."
Oh, geez, this Karen girl was beyond annoying. Lucy wasn't even talking to her and she already wanted to throw a brick at her face.
"Is the Mavis Special even real?" Karen asked suddenly, "A lie to get us to pay for the newspaper this week?"
At this, Jellal mirrored Lucy's eye roll.
"If it was a lie, then all you would have to do is not pay for the paper and leave." Jellal explained with a sigh.
His politeness was still there, but was fading fast. Lucy admired him for sticking out for so long, it seemed like this discussion had been going on long before she had arrived.
Karen visibly bristled when Jellal pointed this out. Lucy guessed it was since Jellal had pointed out the obvious flaw in her argument; one she should have caught on her own.
"Hey," Karen said, taking a threatening step forward, "All I'm saying is you better hurry up or -"
"OMG!" Lucy yelled loudly, trying to be as exaggerated as possible, "Hi Erza! I didn't notice you there."
Karen stiffened and nearly toppled the people standing behind her as she jumped a mile away from Jellal. She turned to look behind her and was only met with sea of people; Erza not even in sight.
Lucy smirked as she dropped her stack into the tray labeled 'Fairy Weekly' in bold, black ink. She placed her hands on the table and leaned forward towards a shell-shocked Karen.
"Sorry," she said innocently as Karen's features morphed into that of anger, having figured out she had been tricked. "My mistake. I could have sworn I saw her a moment ago. Anyways, how may I help you?"
Karen Lilica scoffed and held out a dollar bill, "Just give me your stupid paper."
"Of course." replied Lucy. She took the bill and replaced it with the paper before smiling sweetly, "You have a nice day, okay?"
"Whatever," she muttered before stalking away. The crowd split and found room in the cramped room in order to give her a wide berth.
Jellal whistled, "Remind me to never get on your bad side."
"Sorry, she was just really getting on my nerves." Lucy said.
Their conversation ended there, because at that moment, the crowd surged forward for their copies, leaving Lucy and Jellal too overwhelmed to talk further. As the morning wore on, Jet arrived with more newspapers deliveries and pretty soon the room began to clear out, only leaving only a few people left.
"Here's your paper." said Lucy, giving the paper to a smiling freshman with two braided pigtails.
"Thank you!" she said politely and handed over her money, "I sent in a question for Mavis to answer. Do you think she did?"
Lucy shrugged, "All the askers identities are kept a secret. Even Mavis doesn't even know who she is giving advice to when she answers them."
"Oh," the girl frowned before opening up the paper and scanning it. She stopped about halfway through the paper and pointed excitedly at one of the questions, "There's mine! She really did answer it!"
"That's great," said Lucy, smiling. She had no idea which one she was pointing too, but was happy nonetheless to see the girl so thrilled.
"Can you do me a favor?" she asked, moving to hold the paper under her arm and reaching into her pocket to pull out a carrot and set it on the table, "Give this for Mavis for me, please? I want to thank her for answering my question."
"Uh-sure? I would be happy too." answered Lucy, a bit confused by the girl's strange present.
"Tell her it's from Beth. Beth Vanderwood. And, thank you again for the newspaper!" Beth said before sticking her head into the newspaper and walking away.
"That was interesting." Jellal noted, looking sideways at Lucy while simultaneously opening their money jar to place Beth's money in.
"I'll say," agreed Lucy. She dangled the carrot off the table by the leaves and swept the dirt into the trash can, "Not to mention it looks freshly picked. Do we have a garden at this school?"
Jellal shook his head, "She must have grown it at her house. Although, I recognize her from Jet's article a few weeks back. She's the football's team manager."
"Really? I didn't know that."
"It's relatively easy work; make sure their bottles are full of water, keep stats at games, support the team at games and practices, stuff like that." Jellal stood up from his seat and closed the lid to the money jar, "That's the last of them. We can start heading back now."
Lucy stood up too, "That's too bad. We still have one unsold newspaper."
"Oh, that? I purposely left that one unsold. Apparently Jet used up all the ink in the copier machine making all those extra newspapers and that particular one didn't finish printing at the end."
"In that case, do you mind if I keep it?"
Jellal looked at her in confusion, "Wouldn't you want one that has everything? It wouldn't take long for me to change the ink cartridge again."
"No, that's okay. I better go anyways. I have History first period and I really don't want to be late."
She hadn't taken one step in the direction of her class before Jellal called her back.
"Wait, Lucy!"
She turned, "Yeah?"
"I just wanted to say thanks for getting Karen off my back earlier. I would have done it myself, but I didn't want to cause a fuss." he explained, sheepishly.
"No problem." She raised her hand in farewell, "Although, I personally think her expression was enough of a thank you."
Jellal laughed, "You got that right."
Lucy was halfway through her History notes when a note landed on the edge of her desk. Surprised, she dropped her pencil on her open notebook and unfolded the paper:
Meet me outside after class? I have something for you.
-Natsu
Turning her attention forward, she saw Natsu sitting up straight, eyes forward, pencil scribbling notes neatly in his notebook. The image of a perfect student in class, and the exact opposite of what Natsu usually looks like in History class. However, his act broke when Ms. Olietta turned to write something on the board, momentarily pulling her attention away from the class.
In this instant, Natsu ripped out the page he had been scribbling on beforehand, crushed it into a ball, swiveled in his seat, and chucked the paper in Lucy's direction.
She caught the paper wad easily, having expected him to do something like this, and quickly tucked it under her notebook just as Ms. Olietta's focus shifted back to the class. Hopefully, she hadn't seen the exchange.
Lucy quickly busied herself with her notes but could only look mildly interested in what Ms. Olietta was lecturing about. When the coast was clear, Lucy opened Natsu's paper ball and read:
Your locker?
She shot him a thumbs up just as the bell rang for the end of class.
"Homework: read chapters 14 to 16 tonight." Ms. Olietta's voice rang out over the sounds of the students' shuffling to pack up their stuff for the next period, "I expect everyone to participate in tomorrow's discussion when I review the chapters." Her eyes flickered to look at Natsu "I also expect you to not throw paper balls across my classroom tomorrow either."
Lucy winced as she began shoving her notebook and pencil into her bag. When she glanced up to look for Natsu, she spotted him leaning against his chair listening to Ms. Olietta's speech on his behavior. In an effort not to be scolded herself, Lucy quietly tip-toed out of the classroom.
"Hey Luce!" said Natsu, cheerfully, when he arrived a few minutes later at her locker. He acted like he hadn't just been lectured by the one teacher that was rumoured to have an assortments of medieval torture devices at her house.
"Hey yourself." she replied, spinning her combination in her locker. When it clicked, she grabbed the handle and opened her locker, "So what's the thing you had to give me?"
He reached into his back pocket and withdrew a white envelope, "Those are for this Friday. I got them in advance for you."
Lucy placed her History notebook in her locker and sent him a quizzical look.
"What's going on this Friday?"
"You forgot didn't you?"
"I wouldn't use the word 'forgot' exactly," said Lucy.
Natsu sighed and dropped the envelope in her bag, "Those are tickets for this Friday's football game. It's Víla v.s Sabertooth. You are coming right?"
"I'm coming. Although I'm warning you now, I'm not going to understand a thing."
"No worries. Just cheer whenever everyone else does and you will be fine." Natsu flashed her a toothy smile before his eyes caught sight of an edge of a newspaper sticking out of the bottom of her locker, "What's that?" he asked.
"A copy of Fairy Weekly. We had a spare and I asked Jellal is I could have it."
"That's cool." said Natsu. He pulled the paper out and skimmed through the pages. After a few seconds, his gaze flickered up from the newspaper to meet Lucy's. "Can I borrow this?"
Lucy looked at him in bewilderment, "I was going to use it as part of my Chemistry project. It messed up near the end so I assumed nobody wanted it. Are you sure you still want to read it? I can print you a better one if you pay for it."
Natsu shook his head.
"Sure. Take it if you want." she said, shrugging.
"Thanks, Luce!" Natsu replied, folded the newspaper in half and placed it into his bag, "I gotta go. Don't forget about this Friday!" he called over his shoulder as he ran down the hall in the direction of his second period.
Lucy slammed her locker close and opened the envelope Natsu had given her. Sure enough, tucked safely inside were two tickets to that Friday's game. Lucy sighed and tucked the envelope back in her bag.
This should be interesting.
A/N I forgot to mention this earlier in the story, but for all of my international readers:
I'm from America where when I say "football" I really mean, "American football". I had a few people in the reviews think I was talking about soccer. Which is completely understandable since when I wrote the chapters I completely forgot that America is pretty much the only one that refers to football as soccer. Sorry for the misunderstanding!
Don't forget to leave a Review!
