Chapter 15

One month later

Where is she?!

Dimitri, you need to calm down. I'm sure Rose is fine.

No, Mikhail, I won't calm down. Not until I know where she is. You're supposed to be the one engaged to her and here I am giving more rat's ass about her well-being than you are! I just have to know. What made her run off?

I don't know. I've heard multiple stories passing through the whispers, but the most popular one involves her brother Stan. Maybe he can tell-

Before Mikhail could finish what he was saying, Dimitri had already began to run to the den, in search of Stan. It wasn't long before he reached the den, but Stan was nowhere to be seen. Janine, however, was. Dimitri asked her if she had seen Stan, or heard anything from Rose. Having denied anything about Rose, Dimitri was beginning to lose hope in ever finding her again. But, Janine said something that sparked his interest. Stan had told Abe something about moonlit meetings between Rose and a strange male many moon cycles ago, which is what had brought forth the first arranged mating between Rose and Andre (which had failed), and now the current one between Rose and Mikhail (which was now in question).

So, Dimitri turned and ran. He knew exactly where to find Stan. He would find him where his sister would sneak away to meet Dimitri, where he lost said sister by having their father push her into arranged unions that would never occur if Dimitri had a say. Stan had been an empty shell of himself since Rose's disappearance, walking around murmuring and blaming himself. When Dimitri approached the spot that was so precious to him, Stan was nowhere to be seen. But, there was a low whimper coming from a nearby cliff. Dimitri looked up and his heart almost came to a stop.

STAN! Don't jump!

Upon hearing Dimitri's shout, Stan spooked and ran farther up the mountain ridge. Dimitri gave chase, simply because he couldn't imagine what would happen to Rose when she found out about her brother. When Dimitri arrived at the top, he saw Stan preparing to jump, so he ran. Just as Stan went to lift himself into the air, Dimitri's body collided with Stan's own. Before Dimitri knew it, he laid on top of Stan, preventing him from trying again.

Get off me! Let me go!

No.. Think about Rose and how this will affect her. Think of your sister.

I am thinking of her! She hates me! Just let me go!

She could ever hate you! She will come to terms that you were just trying to do what you thought was best. But, I think it's time to let Rose decide what's best for her. What about you?

I just want my sister back!

Dimitri slowly got off of Stan, and the helped him back down the ridge. Then the duo made their way back to the den that was their residence. There, Dimitri saw Alberta, who had bee disappearing quiet often throughout the month that Rose was missing. When Alberta noticed Dimitri watching her, she rose and left the den. Dimitri slowly followed her to the edge of the forest. He then watched her do something he had only heard of in Yeva's fairytales. He watched Alberta change into a human. It was there that Dimitri found the answer to where his Roza was hiding and he was determined to get to her side. So he gave chase to Alberta, following her all the way to a large building. When she slipped inside, he quickly followed, and he then watched as she went up the stairs, and went through a slot in the wall that had some way to control who could follow. Unfortunately, Dimitri was not fast enough to make it through the hole that followed after Alberta, so he sat outside and waited.

What seemed hours later, he heard steps coming from the stairs. The sound made his ears perk up, and when he saw who they belonged to, his ears weren't the only thing that perked. Upon seeing her, he jumped to his feet and slowly walked toward her. The look of shock on her face confirmed that she knew who he was, though it took her a moment. And then she fell to her knees crying.

RPOV

The past month was a long and confusing one, but Rose wouldn't change it for anything. She had learned so much since that night where she showed up at the Sage's back door. Since that night, the Sage family had managed to get Rose her own apartment on the edge of town. From there, she had gotten a job as a waitress at the little cafe about a block down the street. She was spending her paycheck on rent and utilities, and the little left over was split between getting the little everyday things that were needed. She had struggled to make ends meet, but she always found a way to do it. It helped that Alberta would frequently visit, and do things around the house that helped Rose immensely, like laundry, or make a list of what was needed. On Rose's next day off, she would go out and get the things needed. She normally came home with a dozen chocolate glazed donuts, which she would eat the majority of, and share the rest with Alberta, or on occasion the Sage girls (except Zoe, who seemed to despise Rose after the scolding she had received that first night, when Rose appeared at the back door).

It had been a particularly long day for Rose, having pulled a double shift after only a few hours of sleep. But, it was a larger paycheck for her, so she wasn't going to complain. However, she was ready to get home and get out of the black slacks and white button down shirt she had to regularly wear. Her feet were sore from all the work from today and she couldn't wait to sit down. It was late at night, maybe 11:00, and Rose was walking up the steps to her apartment. She didn't know whether or not Alberta was here, she had been drifting between Rose's apartment and the pack. Rose got her key ready, just in case Alberta wasn't here, as she walked up the last few steps to her apartment's floor. There, she thought something smelled different, so she looked up. There, she saw the chocolate colored eyes that had haunted her dreams for the past month. She watched as the large wolf (though she knew it would appear as a large dog to the normal human eye) jumped to his feet and slowly came ear her. As the tears flooded her eyes, she fell to her knees and let the emotion overtake her. Before she knew what was happening, the wolf she had identified as her one true love, came and wrapped himself around her shaking body, as if to offer her a hug and a shoulder to cry on.

Rose, to distraught by the emotions, went to open the door and slammed it closed before Dimitri could follow her in. She ran to her room and threw that door closed to, before she collapsed on her bed in a fit of tears. She could faintly hear scratching at the door, and she heard the door open (which confirmed that Alberta was indeed inside the apartment) and a gasp. Then Rose heard as Dimitri's nails tatted the floor, and he followed his nose to Rose's room. Rose listened as he sat outside her door and persistently scratched, whining the whole time, until his thoughts broke through and breached her mind.

Rose, please let me in! Please!

"Dimitri? How can I hear you?"

You are a werewolf still. Please, just let me in!

"Why are you here?"

I'm hear for you. Why else would I be here? Please, let me in before you leave me no choice Rose!

"And what exactly are you going to do Dimitri? I don't want to go back to the pack! I don't want to mate with Mikhail, I don't want to lead them! I'm happy with my life here! Just go back and forget about me!"

I can't forget about you. You're all that matters to me! Please!

Rose rolled over in her bed, in an attempt to ignore Dimitri, but it wasn't long before she heard loud bangs on her door. Then, her door came crashing to the ground, and Dimitri rolled inside her room, right on top of the door. When his equilibrium had balanced itself again, he walked over and jumped on her bed, before laying down and wrapping himself around Rose. His massive size dwarfed Rose and her bed, but it had been so long since she had felt this comfortable and safe. So, she turned her body into his and cried herself to sleep as Dimitri licked her tears away.

"Don't ever leave me... Please."

I never plan to my Roza.
