Hey babes, I've been hard at work writing, and I'm sure y'all have been hard at work revieweing, so I'm gonna go ahead and drop Chapter 16 for you! As a recap: Last we saw Rose & Dimitri, they were curled up on her bed after Dimitri burst in and curled up with her. Stan, is safely back with the pack, since Dimitri returned him there and followed Alberta only to find where Rose has been this whole time. Rose has made a life for herself in the human world, having a job and an apartment. Also, I have a poll going, though it apparently wont show up or something.. I'm thinking about writing another story (after I finish this one of course), but I want to know what fandom you think I should do it for: The Mortal Instruments, The Infernal Devices (both TMI & TID are great book series by Cassandra Clare, following the world of Shadowhunters, I'd recommend reading it.), The Hunger Games, or (a new option) The Morganville Vampires...? Leave a vote in your review!
Okay, now that I've caught y'all up, I'm gonna leave y'all to it! Leave me lots of love at the end?
Meet Me In The Moonlight
Chapter 16
It had been a very long and tiring week since Dimitri had found Rose. He had insisted on learning how to shift into a human form, and had been hard at work with Alberta in the forest at night. Rose, however, continued to live her human life like normal, only now she was getting supplies for a man as well as herself and Alberta.
Alberta had a special account in the human world with a whole lot of money, so she often pitched in where she could without having to worry, though it went unnoticed by Rose. Dimitri was a remarkably quick study, and Alberta said it wouldn't be much longer until he completely shifted, if he continued at the rate he was going.
"That's good to hear, I guess."
"Why do you sound uncertain darling?"
"I just miss my family, but with the threat from Aleksandor still in the air, and my arranged mating with Mikhail, which isn't happening, I'm not sure I want to return to the pack."
"Aleksandor is nothing more than an overgrown pup dear. He is nothing to worry about. It seems to me that you have bigger fish to fry.. Such as what's going on with you and Dimitri?"
At that, Rose blushed and turned away from Alberta, as she finished up dinner. Rose had learned enough in her time among humans to make some simple dishes, like macaroni and cheese, or salads, but she was in the process of learning to cook other things from Alberta in the time that she wasn't helping Dimitri shift. So, as Alberta finished making tea, Rose finished making the salad that they would share for dinner. Dimitri, having gone hunting after he had finished practicing for the evening, had eaten two or three rabbits and was now curled in Rose's bed, his head on her pillow, inhaling her intoxicating scent of vanilla and Japanese cherry blossoms.
"I don't want to talk about this. I need to get to work."
"But dear, you need to eat, and I know for a fact that you're off tonight, after pulling that double this morning. Now you sit down on that stool and talk to me."
Rose complied to Alberta's demand and went to sit on the stool. Alberta then set a big bowl of salad in front of her, topped with Italian dressing and plenty of bacon. Before Alberta could ask anything, Rose dug into her dinner to prevent having to answer anything, but Alberta knew Rose better than that and simply waited until she was done.
"Now talk to me dear. You can talk to me about anything."
"I don't know what to talk about. There's nothing happening between us and there never will be anything. He'll return to his family and the pack, and I'll remain here, away from it all. That's all there is to it."
"No I won't."
The new voice that joined the conversation made Rose jump clear out of her seat, before she landed on her butt on the hardwood floor of her apartment's dining area. When she turned to see who it was, she was greeted with a view of a very well endowed man. He had a very broad and muscular stature, and he was extremely tall... If Rose had to hazard a guess, she would have to say 6'7" at least. He had dark brown hair that cascaded down until they danced with his shoulders. He had deep brown eyes, the color of chocolate or coffee, depending on the lighting. And he was naked.
Rose, gasping, turned her face away, blushing. Alberta, however, took this man's entry in stride.
"Hello Dimitri. I'm glad to see you've finally completed your shifting."
"Thank you Alberta."
"I assume you managed it fine, seeing as I didn't hear any screams."
"I guess. It stung a little bit."
As Alberta and Dimitri continued to have a conversation, Rose kept her face turned, still consumed by the fiery blush. On and on the conversation went, until Rose couldn't handle it anymore and left the room. She went to the second bedroom in her little 2 bed, 1 and 1/2 bath apartment, and began to dig around in the dresser she had packed full of the clothes she had bought for Dimitri. She pulled out a pair of boxers, a black wifebeater, and some cargo shorts. She stacked them neatly in her hands before returning to the kitchen. Once there, she smacked them into Dimitri large muscled chest before turning away and grabbing her phone, wallet, and keys. Once all three items were in hand, she turned and walked out of the front door, effectively leaving the apartment.
Rose felt like she needed to clear her head and get her thoughts straight. She had no particular destination in mind, so she just walked. Before she knew it, she was in front of the diner where she worked. Walking inside, she went to the back office without looking at anyone and copied down her schedule for the next week. When she saw that she was supposed to have three days off. THREE DAYS. That wasn't okay with Rose, so she left a note for Adrian, the manager and her boss, asking him to put her on the schedule for each of those days. Now that Dimitri could shift to a human form, Rose wasn't sure she would want to be in the apartment as much. She also left a note on the bulletin board for her coworkers, stating that if anyone needed her to pick up their shift, she'd be available and willing.
Just then, her phone began to ring in her hand. She looked down to see 'Monster Mia' flashing on her screen. She answered the call and put it to her ear, but before she could say anything, Mia said what was on her mind.
"I need you to pick up my shift tonight."
"And why can't you work?"
"Because I don't want to."
"Why should I?"
"You'll get more money, since you've already put in more than 40 hours this week.. And I'll pay you too."
"How much?"
"Work and find out."
And before Rose could confirm that she'd cover for Mia, the other girl had hung up. Rose went back to the office and clocked in, writing another note to Adrian that Mia couldn't make it in tonight so she was covering for her. Then she went out front, and behind the counter she donned the little aprons that a majority of waitresses wore. She hadn't planned on working a shift tonight, so she would just have to work in her short black jean shorts and tank top. At least she had mind enough to not wear heels today. After getting ready, she turned to Ray, the chef, and asked which section Mia was supposed to cover tonight. When he told her, Rose got to work, taking orders, delivering meals, and then cleaning the tables after the customer had left. The night ticked on peacefully, or as peacefully as it could be when you worked as a waitress, until the bell above the door alerted Rose to yet another customer. She paid no mind to it as she continued to clean the table that had just been freed up.
Rose was about to go for her break when she heard a voice that shocked her again.
"Roza?"
Rose slowly turned, but when she finally did, the end result was the same. There sat Dimitri and Alberta, in her section. For the sake of her job, and her sanity, she turned and steeled herself for this order.
"Hi, my name is Rose and I'll be your server this evening. What can I get you guys to drink?"
"I'll have a lemon water darling." Alberta spoke up instantly.
Dimitri, however, took a little longer. "What do you have to drink?"
Rose reached down and turned the menu over, pointing to the drinks. "We have Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Dr. Pepper, Lemonade, and Root Beer for fountain drinks. We have peach, strawberry, or mango flavored teas, as well as normal sweet tea or unsweet tea. Then there is water. What would you like?" Rose finished her memorized spiel about drinks before turning to look at him expectantly.
"What would you recommend?"
"I like the mango tea. It's really good."
"Then that's what I'll have."
"Alright. Go ahead and look through the menu, I'll be right back with your drinks and I'll get your order."
With that, Rose turned away to go get the lemon water and mango tea. She got the water and lemon slices and placed that on a tray, before turning to get Dimitri's mango tea. As she was pouring the tea, she felt something brush against her ass. Turning, she saw Keith standing there with a smirk. She had seen him at the Sage house sometimes, while she was there talking to Sydney and Carly, though she could always feel an underlying tension between the three of them. Which made it even more uncomfortable when she began working at the diner, the way he watched her. Over time, she had come to ignore it, but it didn't do anything to ease her mind. This was the first time he had physically done anything to her and she didn't like this at all.
"Hands off Keith."
"I think I like it better with my hands on."
"Well, I don't, and I'm sure my boyfriend wouldn't either." And with that, she turned back to getting Dimitri's tea.
"Wait, you have a boyfriend? Who?"
"You don't need to know."
And she turned and left him behind the counter, looking like a fool with his mouth hanging open.
Okay babes. There it is! As for everything that Rose does in the diner/cafe, I've never been a waitress, so I'm just going off what I have seen.
Love you darlings! Leave me some? The button is down there...
