Meet Me In The Moonlight

Chapter 20

"It's not completely my fault Roza. I tried to stop him. I tried!"

"What do you mean 'tried to stop him'? Dimitri, what are you talking about?"

"Jesse. He followed me back and broke in. He tried to kill me, but I put up one hell of a fight. I'm sure you'd believe that, since you cleaned the apartment. You could have woken me to help you. After all, I did make the mess, though not by choice."

Upon hearing the name, flashes of the dream from so long ago danced through her mind. The horrible memories consumed her mind, and panic began to set in. In her haze, Rose ran to her room and pulled a small suitcase out of the top of her closet.

Opening it, she peered inside to see the manila file with multiple aliases, all with her picture. Setting the folder aside, she dug further past all the passports, and found that Alberta had also set aside several thousand dollars in cash. All in a different form of currency, whether it be American dollars or euros. Hearing a sound over her shoulder, Rose jumped and saw Dimitri standing there, watching her.

"I'm sorry Roza, I tried to stop him. He was looking for something specific, I know that much. But, the one place I never let him get to was your room. I think he was looking for you. I don't know why, he didn't say. Maybe we should go back to the pack for a while. Or leave here all together. But, I'm telling you now... Where you go, I go. I will not lose you again."

Rose, terrified by the words of Jesse, possibly searching for her specifically, and then touched by his sweet words, stood and walked over to him. Once she stood in front of him, she looked him straight in the eye. She had always been able to read his emotions through his eyes, and she could tell he was scared of losing her, but there was another dancing in the shadows of the fear.

Unknowingly, Rose had risen to the tips of her toes, and her arms had wrapped themselves around Dimitri's neck, resting on his shoulders. His hands now rested lightly on the curve of her hips. His head cautiously dipped lower, until finally, their lips touched in the faintest of brushes.

The electricity that shot through Rose's body was consuming, taking control of her every thought. And, they all circulated around Dimitri.

His delectable eyes.

His luscious lips.

His strapping physique.

"I love you."

Dimitri's words cut through the haze of Rose's mind. She looked him in the eye and saw the truth of his words.

That must have been the emotion I couldn't see.

"I love you like I have every day since we were pups. And I can't risk losing you again Roza. I was going crazy when you disappeared. I went crazy when you didn't meet me and my family was forced into hiding, and I didn't see you again until my brother tackled you and nearly hurt you. I just can't live without you. Not again. Not ever."

The shock of hearing him say that still fluttered around in her mind, but what mattered more was the sudden discovery that she felt the same way. Not giving another moment to hesitation, Rose pulled his face closer to hers, letting their lips graze each other lightly, before pulling him down to her with force, and kissing him with a passion.

It went on and on, the electric feeling claiming each body and scorching it with a feeling like fire. Rose had never felt like this before, though she remembered the warm tingly feeling she used to get in her stomach when she and Dimitri would curl up together during their moonlit meetings. They kissed and kissed, only separating long enough to regain their breath and begin kissing again.

Since the discovery of Dimitri being a Belikov, and the oldest Belikov son at that, Rose wasn't sure if she'd be able to let him into her heart again. But, Dimitri had found a way, with his silently boyish cuteness. He always found a way into Rose's heart. It seemed that he was there to stay. Rose couldn't help but love him, like she always had, even when she didn't know it. He was just hard to ignore. She had to give him credit for never ceasing to look for her, because he always managed to find her again. And, he must mean his words, of loving her, because he followed her into the human world and quickly learned how to shift, learning everything that went along with being a human. He had picked up on many things remarkably quick, for only being in the human world for a short while.

The fire that was scorching her body had started at her toes, and was steadily creeping up her body. Right now, it felt like she had a raging inferno in her belly, and it showed no signs of stopping. Rose didn't want to mate with Mikhail. It wasn't because of his looks or anything, he was a strapping young lad and all, but nobody held a candle to Dimitri. He always understood her, had protected her when he could have let her die, had always cared about what she wanted. He had never pushed her to do something she didn't want to do, and always seemed to be by her side. She wanted to make the decision of who would be her mate for herself. So, Rose threw her father's orders to the wind, and shocked them both.

"Mate with me. Please."

That was all Rose had managed to get out between their kisses and gasps.

Before anything else could register in her mind, Dimitri had pushed her up against the wall, and was kissing a line down her body. He started behind her ear, a spot that sent another wave of fire rolling through Rose's body. Then, he slowly made his way down her neck, stopping briefly at the place where her shoulder and neck met, eliciting yet another wave of flaming heat. Her heart was working in overdrive, trying to keep up with her, but it was severely falling behind. Or, at least, it felt that way. As Dimitri rose and drew himself to his full height again, he grabbed Rose and pulled her up with him. It got him a slightly surprised gasp, but a pleasurable one.

With Rose safe in his arms, Dimitri carried her into the bedroom, kicking the door shut.

And their moonlit escapades were only beginning.
