Meet Me In The Moonlight

Chapter 22

Rose awoke bright and early the next morning, though she felt a little warmer than normal. She felt a weight settling on her waist, and a slight soreness between her hips, and she knew what it was.

It was Dimitri.

The night before came flooding back into her mind. The way he kissed her, and caressed her body. The feel of him inside her, and the bliss that it brought. She felt his arm tighten around her waist and she cherished in the feeling of his muscled chest against her back. A slight smile graced her lips and she rolled over to face him.

Dimitri was still asleep, and Rose reveled in the feeling. Since they were pups, Dimitri had always been the one to wake up first. She enjoyed being the first one to rise for once in her life. His breathing was even, his chest rising and falling. Reaching up, she gently brushed some loose strand of hair away from his eyes, because it probably wouldn't be long before Dimitri woke up.

Rose looked over his shoulder, and out the window. The sun was just peaking over the horizon, and the sky seemed to be on fire. But, Rose could see storm clouds forming in the distance, and Alberta had always told her that was never a good sign. And the bad feeling that began brewing in Rose's belly only got worse when she heard the thunder and saw the flash of lightning.

Suddenly, as if claimed by the vision that struck her, Rose saw flashes of images through her mind. Her father and mother. Her brothers. The pack and... Aleksandor? What was he doing in the mouth of her family's den and where was Alberta? The next thing she saw was her father, on the ground, Aleksandor's large paw pressing into his throat. Her brother, she couldn't tell which, was laying against a nearby wall, motionless. Her mother was right beside him, nuzzling his body with her nose, and getting no response.

Rose found a way to shake herself out of the haze her mind was in, and she rolled out of bed. She landed on the floor, gracelessly, with a loud thump. Hurriedly, she half ran, half crawled over to her dresser and got dressed. Not paying attention to what she threw on, she hurried herself into the living room. She reached for a notepad on the coffee table, a recent addition that had managed to survive the scuffle between Dimitri and Jesse the night before, and hastily scribbled a note. She didn't go into detail, but left enough for Dimitri to know what she was doing and where she was going. When he managed to find her again, she'd explain it all to him then.

Went back to pack. They need me. I'm so sorry, but when you find me, I'll explain everything. Last night was everything to me, and I love you. -Roza

With that done, she ran out the door. First, she had to make a stop at the Sage house. Beating on the door, Rose waited for someone to answer. After what seemed like forever, and to each other's surprise, Zoe ripped the door open in a frustrated fit.

"Rose?! Do you have any idea what time it is?" Zoe screeched.

"I don't have time to explain, and I'm sorry, but I need y'all to keep up with the payments on my apartment. I'll pay your family back when I return."

"Return? Where are you going?"

"There's no time to explain. Please, just do this."

Zoe seemed to hesitate for a while, before finally saying "okay."

And that was all Rose needed to hear. Next thing either one knew, Rose was running away, towards the woods.

Dimitri woke to the sun shining in his eyes. When he rolled over to kiss Rose good morning, he ended up rolling over to a cold bed. Upon feeling that, Dimitri felt like a bucket of cold ice water had been splashed in his face. Sitting up in a hurry, his eyes flying open, he looked to see that Rose was gone. Or, well, she wasn't in bed with him, where he felt like she belonged. He sat quietly for a few moments, listening to see if there was any movement in the apartment at all. Hearing none, Dimitri got out of bed and scooped up his boxers from last night. He slipped them on in a flash and exited the bedroom.

Walking around, he saw no visible sign of Rose having been up and about that morning... Until he saw a fluttering motion on the coffee table. He hurried over to see what it was, only to be graced with a note from his Roza. Picking it up and reading it quickly, Dimitri's heart rate increased drastically. She was gone. She had left him here. But she said she'd explain when he found her, so she knew he wouldn't stay here and wait for her. She knew he wouldn't make her face anything alone. With those four words on a continuous trickle in his mind, "when you find me", he raced to his room and hastily dressed in some cargo shorts and a plain t-shirt. He threw on some shoes and ran out of the door, only taking the time to turn everything off and lock the door.

Then, he was racing his way to the treeline of the woods. Once he got there, he forewent any stripping clothes off and let his pure animalistic nature consume him once again. His body began to shift, bones snapping, muscles tearing, and screams ripping themselves from his throat. When his transformation was done, and his senses were heightened again, he turned his head to the left after seeing a spark of color. Turned out to be shreds of a dark red tank top that he knew Rose loved to wear. He trotted over to it, and sniffed the remains that were flitting around. He also smelt the shambles of some denim shorts she had worn often enough in his brief time.

Having smelt the cloths, and knowing Rose's scent by heart, Dimitri lifted his nose to the air and took in a deep whiff. For a few moments, he wasn't getting anything. Just when he was about to change his method to mindlessly wandering around, he caught the faintest trace of her in the air. That being discovered, Dimitri turned and raced in the direction of their meeting place.

Uh oh babes! What do you think Rose was seeing? And will Dimitri find her in time to be brought up to speed and help her through whatever battles she may be fated to face?
