Chapter 11
God, Jack, what the hell did you just do? Jack ran down the corridors, for once never pausing to look at any of the girls who smiled flirtatiously as he passed them. He didn't mean to kiss her, it just kind of happened. He was chalking it up to muscle memory, but somehow he didn't think that was the reason why he did it.
"Jack!" Scorpius beamed as he jumped in front of Jack. "Mate, I caught so many damn Snitches, Weasley is gonna eat so much shit at the first game, I can feel it." He apparently noticed Jack's panicked face because his smug grin faltered a bit. "You okay, man? I hope you're not still upset about the score, I mean, I may have botched the numbers a bit 'cuz I was pissed off about something else, but really, it's been-"
"I told her." Jack whispered it, heaving as his eyes continued to dart around, looking for the girl with long, golden hair.
Scorpius's eyes widened. He grabbed Jack's arm, and dragged him all the way to the Slytherin Common Room, although Jack was listless anyways, his eyes roaming the halls even if he physically wasn't.
"How much did you tell her?" Scorpius had shut, locked, and placed a Muffling Spell over the doorway.
"I managed to get to the Lumi Curse part, and then she freaked out." Jack felt worse than he had after drinking thirteen shots of Firewhiskey on a dare at a Slytherin Homecoming Party the second week of school.
"Understandable. Did you explain that you haven't actually killed anyone?"
"I mentioned that I hadn't in a few decades…"
"Decades? You told me you hadn't ever killed anyone."
"Well, I forgot that one time I accidentally hurt an old miser, and he died of exposure afterwards, so I count that as my fault."
"Okay, yes technically, but you didn't directly kill him, so I think your zero deaths quota should still stand."
"That's not even the worse part."
"What? That she didn't believe you, and freaked out and ran?"
"No, she believed me all right. I just kissed her at the end."
"YOU DID WHAT."
"It wasn't my smartest move, I know."
Scorpius sighed, and sat down on his bed. It looked like he was getting a headache. "You know, you have to explain to her what happened now. I think you just made things worse for her."
"How did I make things worse? She knows she's not the only mutant here now."
"Yeah, but she also thinks that she's in constant danger because you're here, and no one knows it but her. She's probably learning new defensive spells right now. You're a time bomb to her, and she's going to start preparing for when you decide to explode."
"Right."
"Jack."
"What?"
"She's in her Common Room. Ten pounds says she's in the old Astronomy Tower when the sun sets."
"So what, Sparkledust?"
"Don't make me fucking punch you, Frosty."
