Chapter 3
It was morning in Twilight Town as Kairi sat in her living room reading her book. Ever since her father left yesterday she had done nothing really, but stay in her house and read most of her book. However, two certain figures were peeking behind a bush. Seifer just grinned as he looked over at Kairi's house. He had a really big surprise for her and when she sees him in the suit that he was wearing, she'd have to finally accept his proposal.
"Boy, Kairi is going to have the time of her life, y'know Seifer." Rai chuckled.
"Yep! Today's her lucky day," Seifer smiled as he gladly walked away while letting go of a branch he was holding on to as it slung back and hit Rai in the face; leaving leaves in his mouth.
Nearby, were a bunch of people who Seifer had invited for his 'wedding.' They were all setting up the tables with cake and everything as Seifer said, "I'd like to thank you all for coming to my wedding. But first, I've gotta go in there…and propose to the girl."
Everyone just died out laughing at the teen's somewhat amusing joke, except for Yuna and her two sisters who did nothing but cry to themselves thinking that their chances in marring Seifer were now gone.
Rai was laughing too, but sadly he wasn't able to savior the happiness for long until Seifer interrupted him. "Rai! The moment Kairi and I come through that door, you –"
"I know, I know! I strike up the band!" the tall raven exclaimed as he started waving his hands around in the air as music started to play at a rather fast pace for a wedding song. It soon stopped though when Seifer hit Rai over the head with a tuba.
"Not yet!" he snapped, angrily.
"Sorry," Rai groaned as he rubbed his head from the sore bump on his head.
While Seifer was busy trying to get the sudden wedding scene set up, Kairi was still in the house reading her book. It would seem she hadn't even set it down since her face was practically inside the book with her noise almost touching the pages. She was soon interrupted from her thoughts though when she heard a knock come from her door.
Curiously, she put her book down on the table and slowly made her way over to the door. Who could it be? Surely it wasn't her Father. He had just left to go to the Fair; and she didn't really have the much friends in town either. Most of the people though she was a weird girl who just lived in her fairytale books and dreams.
Shaking her head, Kairi finally made it to the door. She quickly looked through the peephole to only cringe in annoyance when the face of Seifer showed. With a sigh, she opens the door to only be greeted by a smirking Seifer.
"Seifer, what a pleasant surprise." Kairi said faking a smile.
"Isn't, Kairi?" Seifer said with a smirk as he walked inside the house. "I'm just full of surprises.
You know, Kairi, there's not a girl in town who would love to be in your shoes right now. This is the day your dreams come true."
"What do you know about my dreams, Seifer?" the red head asked as she started to make her way over to where she was sitting before. She already knew what the blonde teen thought was supposed to be her dream, but as always, she played it cool as if she was really glad to see him.
Seifer chuckled to himself as he followed the girl. "Plenty! Here picture this," the blonde said as he casually sat himself down in an empty chair and put his feet up. Kairi all but flinches when she sees that Seifer had put his muddy shoes on top of her book. It all but made the red head mad, but she didn't show it on the outside, but on the inside she was flaring. "A rusty hunting lodge, my biggest kill roasting over the fire, and my little wife massaging my feet," Seifer continued as he pulled his shoes off.
Kairi was now disgusted by the sight she saw. She cringes at the thought of massaging anyone's, feet let alone his.
But being as Seifer was, he continued on with his speech, "While the little ones playing on the floor with the dogs." He smiles and then stands up by getting in front of Kairi's face. "We'll have six or seven."
"Dogs?" Kairi asked, hopefully.
"No, Kairi! Handsome boys like me!"
"Imagine that," she said while rolling her eyes. She quickly took her open book away from the table and started to clean the mud off of it with a cloth. She was making her way towards her bookcase in order to separate her from Seifer as little bit as she could.
"And do you know who that little wife will be?"
"Let me think," Kairi mumbled to herself as she put the book in the bookcase. Suddenly, she was pushed back into the corner of the bookshelf as she turned around to see Seifer up too close for her own liking as he had his hands up against the wall on each side of Kairi's head.
"You, Kairi!" Seifer stated with a wicked grin plaster on his face. Kairi quickly ducked under him as she started to make her way over to the door. With luck, she could probably get rid of him if he played her game right. She quickly took a hold of a chair as she loosely slung it around in front of her as if a blockage to protect herself from the blonde.
"Seifer, I'm…speechless. I really don't know what to say." Kairi said as Seifer pushed away the chair and put both of his hands on the side of her head, making her uneasy against the door.
"Say you'll marry me." Seifer smirked as he watched the red head squirm uneasily under him. The sight made the boy think he had won this conversation and was going to get Kairi to be his forever.
However, the red head had ideas of her own. There was no way she would ever marry him! He was nothing but a jerk and a player who thinks his nothing but a badass. The thought of even kissing the guy made her just want to throw up in her mouth that she would rather kiss a frog instead of him.
Kairi turned her head quickly away from Seifer as she saw that he was about ready to kiss her when she saw his lips pucker up and start to lean in slowly. Panic took of her body as she quickly started moving her hands to find the doorknob.
"I'm very sorry Seifer, but…" she found the doorknob and gripped it tightly. "I just don't deserve you!" she shouted and quickly opened the door and got out of the way just in time as Seifer lost his balance and fell face first into a mud puddle outside.
Thinking this was cue, the band begins to play as Kairi tosses Seifer's shoes outside onto her porch and closes the door while locking it as well. The band soon stops playing when the notice that Seifer is in the mud puddle and not walking out with his so-to-be-wife instead.
Rai rushes over to his friend's side and looks down at the blonde, who is not really in the mood to talk to anyone.
"So, how did it go?" Rai asked with a slim grin as his face. The sight of his friend made the blonde growl in response as he grabbed the top of teen's shirt angrily and yelled,
"I'll have Kairi as my wife! Make no mistake about that!" he then threw Rai into the mud puddle as he quickly stormed off.
A couple minutes past as everyone who was supposed to see a wedding that involved Seifer and Kairi soon all left. Kairi slowly opened the front door of her house and quickly checked to see if there was any sign of blonde teenager. "Is he really gone?" When she didn't a sigh of relief escaped her lips as she closes the door behind her.
"Can you imagine?" she asked herself as she soon started to boil inside of what had just happened to her. "He asked me to marry him! ME! The wife of that boorish, brainless…" she began as she made her way over to the other side of the house.
Madame Seifer, can't you just see it
Kairi mocked as she grabbed a towel and put it over her head as she started to act like she was a little housewife.
Madame Seifer, his little wife
She then took the towel off and kicked a bucket upset.
No sir! Not me! I guarantee it!
I want much more than this provincial life!
Kairi then ran away from her home as she soon found herself in a field with nothing but flowers of all kinds. The sight of them only made the teen upset even more. No one was perfect she knew that, but how was it that everyone in town she met always saw her as an outsider? It wasn't her fault she saw life differently than the others did. Besides, who would ever want to be a wife to a grumpy husband who did nothing but work all day long while the woman cooked, cleaned, and took care of the kids without any help.
Not Kairi, that's for sure.
No one understood her. She was just a lonely teenage girl who did nothing but dream and live in her fairytale books. It was all she ever cared about. She was tired of living a boring, normal life; she wanted more than just waking up every morning and do the same stuff over and over again.
With a sigh, the teen looked up at the sunset as she started to speak her mind up into the clouds.
I want adventure in the great wide somewhere
I want it more than I can tell
She thoughtfully picked up a white flower and watched as the wind took its petals away.
And for once if might be grand
To have someone understand
I want so much more than they've got planned
The petals flew up into the air as Kairi watched as they danced in the wind with sad eyes. Suddenly, the sound of a horse neighing caught the girl's ears as she turns around to see Philippe running towards her with the wage of the invention still attached to him. But that's not what made Kairi nervous, it was the fact that her father wasn't with him.
"Philippe?" asked Kairi concerned as she goes up to him. "What happened? Where's Father? Where is he?" When she only got a shake of the head from Philippe she knew then that there was something wrong. She quickly unlocked the wagon from the horse and got on top of him. "We've got to find him! Take me where you last saw him."
The sound of a horse galloping could be heard throughout the trees as Philippe and Kairi made their way towards the twist and turns of the dirt road. It wasn't until later that the red head could slightly make out a glimpse of something shiny through the trees.
She scan her eyes to see clearly too only gasp at what she saw. The sight of a castle was shown as fog and mist surrounded it to only make it seem as if it was haunted by ghosts or something.
"What is this place?" Kairi asked herself in wonder she stared at the castle in awe. Philippe, however; was a bit uneasy about the whole situation as he started to panic a bit. "Calm down, Philippe. Steady." The girl said while rubbing the horse's main in order to calm him down.
Once she saw that Philippe was calmed down a bit, she turned to only see something beyond the castle's gate and gasped in horror. She jumped off of Philippe, opens the gate, went in, and picked up the object that she saw. It was Kairi's lucky charm that she made when she was young. She gave it to Xehanort as a gift to show how much she cared about her father.
She clutched the small charm close to her heart as she slowly looked up at the castle with sad eyes.
"Father…"
