107. LindaxLawrence, First Meeting, Romance (requested by GTS)
You snuck your way right into my heart!
The song blasted through the stereo speakers. Linda walked into the record store, smiling as she heard her favourite song.
She went to the back of the store, navigating her way as though she lived there. She stopped in front of a shelf, and picked up the record she'd been wanting for ages. Love Händel's self-titled debut album.
She walked up to the register, her money in hand. As she walked back to the front of the store, past all the records and tapes, a certain record caught her eye for a moment. She was about to go get it, when suddenly she thought: Next time. I only have so much cash on me.
"OOF!"
Linda stumbled back, shocked and surprised. She ran towards the man she'd bumped into.
"I'm so sorry," she apologized. "Are you ok-"
Her mouth stuck with glue, as the man looked up at her. He was the most handsome man she'd ever seen since like...forever!
"Dear me, I'm so sorry!" the man apologized back. "My name is Lawrence, and I work here."
"Hi, Lawrence," Linda greeted back. "I should be sorry, though. I wasn't looking where I was going."
Lawrence picked up the items off the ground. "Here, you dropped this." He handed the record back.
Linda took the record back gracefully, before realizing: "What about my cash?"
"I told you: I work here," Lawrence replied. He opened the register and put the money in, and took out the change. "Here you go," he said, placing the change in her open hand, "five dollars, eighteen cents!"
"T-Thanks." Linda stuttered. She turned around to leave, but a voice stopped her.
"Wait!"
Linda turned around. "Yes?"
"Do you want to...you know...go out sometime, maybe?" Lawrence proposed.
Linda smiled. She usually got these offers from men, due to her stunning appearance. She rejected them, but something seemed different about this man.
"Sure," she replied. "that'd be great!"
"Okay," Lawrence clapped his hands together. "meet me by the coffee shop a few blocks down, tomorrow, at eight AM."
"Sure thing!"
She walked out of the store, smiling to herself. However, she caught herself.
Get a grip on yourself, Linda, she reminded herself. He's just a nice guy.
Probably the best 'first meeting' prompt so far...
