" Lissa, Lissa, Lissa. See.. A lot of people want you dead. They want your sweet blood splattered over your parents grave and they're paying moi a lot of money to do it" Lissa started crying. She put her hands over her face and her body shook violently as she looked at all the unmoving bodies.
" You did it for the money?" Kim bent down In front of Lissa and ran her knife she had in her hand softly down Lissa's face.
" No, you see Lissa. Your sweet boyfriends sister over there did a very terrible thing. She killed my father. Shot him right in the fucking stomach. I vowed from the day the Feds came and told me that I was going to get my revenge. Then I met a guy. His name was Benny. He was sweet to me but he was a bad man. I loved him. He loved me too.
lissa, I was...carrying a special surprise in my oven. He promised to marry me and take me and my baby away from this crazy world but that wouldn't happen until he ' handled a problem'," she held up air quotes around her words.
"He made me enroll into your stupid school and go undercover. He made sure I had the finest room on the finest floor. My job was to kill your guardian friend so it would be easy to get to you. You see Lissa, his tiny problem were your parents. That's right he had a problem with your parents. And the only way he could handle that problem was if he got to you. But I couldn't get to him due to your pregnant friend.
" They were just so... Attached. Ugh, it made me sick to my stomach to even think of killing such a... Destined couple. So I devised a little plan. Listen to this, it's hilarious. I told him that the little guardian problem was taken care of. So he tracked your parents down and thought he killed everyone in the car. Unknowingly you two still survived. Well, you did. Rosie died. But you just couldn't part with her could you? So you brought her back. I thought you two had died so I told Dimitri. He was so devastated. If you two hadn't of gotten to that damn lady's house when you did I could have used compulsory to make Dimitri join our side. But damn it you did so he got a phone call from Abe. A few hours later he located where Ben was staying a shot up his place. From all the pressure and drama I lost my baby." the smile on her face faded as she stood up. She grabbed Lissa's hair and dragged her outside.
Then she threw her in the back seat of one of the cars and slammed the door. Then she quickly got inside and started the car. When she pulled out of the lot she looked in her rear view at Lissa before speaking again.
" I planned on giving up. Just living my life as a normal girl. You guys were so sweet to me. You even invited me on your private Christmas getaway. I started to change you know. Started to like you and Rose and everyone else. Then Rose had to go and get herself pregnant. I found out yesterday before we went to take pictures. It made me remember the fact that I couldn't have a child. But then I remembered—" she laughed " Shadow kissed people can't have babies. You see Rose was kissed by the shadows of death. She's half dead thanks to you. You my friend have ruined your best friends life. The baby won't last another month in Rose before it dies.
Oh, I almost forgot, you Lissa have special um... Powers. Like me, you can heal and compulse people into doing what you want. See there were originally only four elements. fire, earth, water, and air blah blah blah. It's all science. But then there are those one in like... Two billion people who are born every four years that have the fifth element. Spirit. Kinda like the movie the fifth element we were created to.. Save the earth. How boring is that right? We are like, perfect people. Why would we waist good talent on healing the world. We can dream walk, see auras, heal things, and even create a bond with as many people as we want but that's only for the powerful. You Lissa are one of those very powerful people. And I need you. You,Me,Avery,and Adrian as far as I'm concerned are the only spirit users. But who knows... Maybe others we might not know are also.
" Join my team Lissa, we can rule if you do" Lissa shook her head still crying. Kim laughed. " It's not a choice Lissa, although I might have given you that impression. You either join me or I push you off a cliff and make you join me. But first," the car stopped and Lissa looked to so why they had stopped. She saw the ski lounge and her eyes narrowed with confusion. Oh no. The crazy bitch was going to do something to me and Dimitri.
" Rose and Dimitri are in here. Probably at each others throats. I compelled Adrian into thinking that he was head over heels into Rose a couple weeks ago when to be completely honest, he only liked her as a friend. But Rose fell for it and started to fall for his charm. I made him compel her into thinking she generally liked him. Then I bought a cute little necklace and put a charm spell on it. So that when ever her and Dimitri touched each other while holding the necklace it would make them lust for one another.
"It could only work if they had general feelings for each other. Not just lust though. It had to be stronger. So I waited to give it to him to give to her. I'm exhausted too. All of this compelling and what not makes me a very angry woman. I really don't wanna kill Rose and her lover but the hulk has to go one way or another. " she turned away but quickly turned back around. " Oh, and don't try sending her a message through the bond. The charm blocks out all magic"
So that's why I couldn't get that bad feeling out of my head but couldn't figure out what It was either.
Kim pulled out a lighter and got out of the car before telling Lissa to stay.
I started to panic when I couldn't get out of Lissa's head. What the hell ? I guess when she made Lissa stay she made me stay as well. I tried pushing and pulling and looking for any type of voice.
I'm going to get us out of here Lissa. I secret swear.
Lissa nodded and I tried to get out again. I felt a light tingle on my left shoulder so I followed that. As I tried to reached the tingle it grew more pronounced. Until finally I was pushed out. Dimitri was shaking me and asking me what was wrong. I whispered for him to quiet down and promised to tell him later.
" But first we need to get dressed Dimitri, now" I commanded. He jumped into action speed walking back over to the couch and throwing me my clothes while I devised a quick slip free plan. When I got it I quickly put on my clothes and whispered to Dimitri to follow my lead. I peeped out the window to see Kim with a cigarette in her mouth and a red tank of gasoline. She was coating the sides of the lounge with it. I motioned for Dimitri to follow me through the utility closet.
" ok, don't freak out but Kim is really a psycho crazy strigoi loving bitch that has been sent to murder both of us and Lissa. She charmed my necklace so we can lust for each other. so now she's thinking that we're... LOUNGING. I need you to follow my lead and don't complain got it?" he nodded then I took a deep breath before yelling " Oh my gosh Dimitri , yea.. Do it again" His eyes went big when he realized what I was doing but I gave him a don't fuck this up look. So he sighed and replied.
" Roza," he grunts then continues " like this?". I Looked around before spotting a door hidden behind a shelf filled with knife looking things. It must lead to outside.
" Oh yea, comrade. Right there. Ehhh...Please don't stop baby" I Struggled to push the heavy ass shelf out the way so Dimitri does it for me. When the door is free to open I grab a knife looking thing and hand it to Dimitri before getting one for myself. When I grab the door handle it burns my hand and I grunt. I smell smoke and gas. A lot of it. This bitch wasn't just trying to toast us, she was determined to make us burn. I start to panic when I start sweating badly. Dimitri tries to kick open the door. Once, twice,three times before he runs his hands through his hair furiously.
" Dimitri I don't want to die. I'm too young, too pretty. I didn't even get a chance to see my babies face or know what she or he would have turned out looking like"
" Rose, what are you taking about?"
I start to cry, my lungs were burning and my throat was begging for moisture. I was going to die in this lounge. I was going to leave Lissa and die. I've failed her parents. I've failed my child. I've failed myself.
" I'm pregnant Dimitri. I'm pregnant by you and now our poor child is going to die" I put my face in my hands and start to cry harder. Suddenly the door is kicked down and I'm being pulled up by Dimitri. He doesn't speak to me. Just runs out into the cold and looks around. The entire lounge except where the door is is engulfed in flames. I run out and head straight to the front of the lounge. The car is still there but Lissa and Kim are no where in sight.
I try to remember what the crazy bitch said. Something about a cliff. I remember there's a airlift that leads to the top of the mountain. On the other side of the mountain is a cliff that stand above a lake. I run to where the air lifts are and see that the last one is gone. Shit she must have taken it. I leave Dimitri and run through the cold blizzard air. The cold air burns my lungs as I run faster and faster through the thick snow. Every couple of steps my feet gets lost in the snow and I get stuck. I silently wish I would have ditched the heels when we left the estate. I dodge trees and other random objects as I try to trek my way through hell.
My legs bark at me to stop running but I tell them to quite their bitching. There was no way I was stopping. Not until I saved Lissa. I stop and turn to see if Dimitri had found out where I was going but the snow fell harder and the darkness made it very hard to see. I turn around and run the fastest I could to make up for the lost time. I silently thank Dimitri for giving me all those vigorous workouts.
He— although I would never admit it to his face, could possibly save mines and Lissa's ass. After what seemed like forever I get to the top. I see Kim holding Lissa right above the edge. One push and life as I know it would forever change.
" Hey!" I scream. Kim slowly turns around with a smirk on her face.
" I knew one of you would survive, but sadly your too late. Lissa is going to die and your going to watch her" lissa looks at me with dry tears by her eyes. But she wasnt scared. She looked determined. Lissa snatches her hair from Kim's grip and steps on her foot. Kim screams and grab it while Lissa runs over to me.
" get down the mountain and find Dimitri" i tell her. She hesitates for a second before nodding and and runs off. Kim smirks at me and takes a step closer.
" Don't come any closer, or I'll kick your ass" she laughs and shakes her head.
" with a baby in your stomach Rose?" I take a step back as she walks closer and put a protective arm around my waist. Suddenly she jump and tackles me to the ground. The icy snow burns through my silk dress as we continuously roll closer and closer to the end of the mountain edge. Finally I straddled her and drew back my fist. I clock her twice in the nose before she wraps her legs around my waist and flips us over. She quickly tries to pin my wrist to the ground but I bring my forehead up and smash it into here. Bad move though.
Her grip on my wrist loosens enough To push her off of me. I knee her in the stomach and bring my elbow up to her nose. With a satisfying crack came a very unhappy Kim.
"You bitch" I tried to stand but she pushed me down. I rolled onto my stomach to crawl but her foot came down on my back. Her heel made contact with my spine several times before I heard a crack. I grabbed my back and screamed in agony. Then she rolled me over and slapped me. If I wasn't in so much pain I would have been surprised by her strength.
" Rose, Rose, Rose.. tsk tsk. You just had to intervene. Had to try to be the big bad savior," she reached in her back pocket and pulled out a Swiss knife. " but there are times when being the savior gets yourself and others hurt" she cut open my dress with the knife and traced it down my midsection. I shuddered as the cool air hit my warm body.
" Well, I don't want to keep you too long, so I'll make this quick" then she did it. She plunged the tiny knife into my abdomen. I couldn't scream. I couldn't cry. All I could do was touch it. Touch the small pool of blood that was flooding out of my stomach.
