Chapter 26 Gone
"Scar, honey can you help me out?"
"Baby, what happened?!"
"What do you mean?" Uzuri began to look over her body, it was covered in blood. It was matted and sticking to anything it touched.
"Who's blood is that?" Scar asked as he quickly started to panic and gag at the sight.
"Well I have good news and bad news, which do you want?" Uzuri asked as she began to clean herself.
"Bad news?"
"Kasema passed away." Scar's jaw dropped, "But Rafiki managed to save her cubs."
Scar shook his head, "So that is her blood?"
"Can we focus on the living please!?" Uzuri snapped, causing Scar to nod his head, "Stelle took off after Kasema died and now we need to find her."
"Where did she go?"
"She went to the South."
"Well if she went to the South you can take a quick dip in the water hole being covered in blood might not be all too good for the cub."
Uzuri's eyes light up at the mention of the cub, "You're right, but only a quick dip we need to find Srelle."
Scar and Uzuri briskly strode to the water hole. Uzuri dove into the crystal clear water and the clotted blood that covered her fur washed away, but Uzuri had a sinking feeling in her gut. She quickly got out of the water and continued with Scar to the South. The duo traveled to the Southern border following Stelle's scent.
At the Southern Border…
Stelle was crying and cursing the kings, "Why? Why did you do this to me?!" Stelle's fur was stained reddish brown, her eyes were red and puffy from her tears. She began slamming her paw into the ground till her paw popped and started to bleed.
Stelle could feel that there was something wrong in the pride, everything just felt so surreal. When she arrived there she felt as though all her dreams came true, she didn't have to deal with a homicidal tyrant, she didn't have fight off rabid packs of hyenas, and she genuinely felt safe to be herself.
But now she just has to leave, the love of her life died right before her eyes. "I can't stay here anymore, the cubs and I have to go find a new place to live." She walked past the acacia tree that marked the Southern border. "Goodbye Uzuri."
Back with Scar and Uzuri…
Uzuri and Scar were now running to the Southern border before they lost Stelle's scent. "Wait." Uzuri stopped them, "Do you smell that?"
"What?" Scar asked.
"The scent has split, you follow one and I will take care of the other one."
Uzuri followed her scent to the Southern border, where her scent thickened. She slowed down to track better and she found a trail of blood that was fresh. "Oh No!"
Uzuri sprinted following the trail of blood further south till the ground became cracked and reeked of salt. "Salt flats that should slow her down a bit, just don't do anything stupid."
Uzuri picked her pace back up and she could feel the pads of her feet drying out from the salt that started to accumulate. Uzuri spotted a lioness about 400 yards away. "Stelle!"
Stelle turned and walked back toward Uzuri. "What?"
"I am here to take you home."
"No."
"Why not?!"
"It is not my home… Not anymore."
"What… Why?!"
"I just can't go back."
"Why? Everyone one back home misses you."
"No, they don't… There are only lions actually care for me."
"Not true, Scar and I care for you."
"And that's it!" Stelle snapped slamming her broken paw into the salt flat, splashing blood all over. "You and Scar are the only ones left in the pride that actually care for me."
Uzuri was tired of the yelling at her cousin, "Can we just go home and talk about this?"
"No, How long did you stay in the Coastlands after Pion died? How long did you stay with Kiu when he died?" Uzuri couldn't say anything, "I love you, but I can't go back it will kill me." Stelle turned away and left Uzuri alone in the middle of the desert heart broken.
Uzuri walked back to the acacia tree that marked the southern border, with a knot in her chest and tears in her eyes. "Z, did you find her?" Scar asked waiting for her.
"Let's just go home…" Uzuri dismissed him.
Scar and Uzuri walked back to the cave in silence but at the mouth of the cave Uzuri's body went stiff and she collapsed and began to seize. "Uzuri No!"
With Sarafina…
"Wait Kasema is dead?"
"Yes my dear, she died in labor." Rafiki said as he carried the cubs into Sarafina's den.
"How are her cubs?"
"They are healthy and she was blessed with twins, one male one female."
"What are their names?"
"Tama and Tojo, and Mufasa was wondering if you could help take care of them until we can find them a home."
"Well I guess I can, Ni will be able to help out." Rafiki froze. "What?"
"Ni's gone…"
"What do you me…" Sarafina was interrupted.
"Rafiki!" Scar shouted as he rushed into the cave.
"Yes?" He turned and his colorful face was bleached at the sight before him.
"Uzuri collapsed and I think something is wrong."
Scar set Uzuri down and Rafiki began to examine her. "Well she is fine maybe a little stressed out…" Rafiki shook his head "It's gone…"
"What's gone?" Scar asked.
"De Cub, der is no heartbeat- I am sorry."
AN: Hello, I am back with another chapter; Uzuri lost her cub, Stelle has left the Pridelands, and Sarafina found out that Ni isn't coming back. Please review, every writer on this site will agree that not getting any reviews for two chapters straight is not fun.
