Kurt considered the posture of the defeated looking boy… no man Kurt corrected when seeing the dark brown hair, blue eyed male who looked strangely familiar, as they walked up towards him.

The man looked anxious outside the door number, fiddling with his hands low in his lap where Blaine had said his mother would be in room 235. The man must be Cooper, who was sitting in a corridor chair right outside with his face in his hands minutes after fiddling, he hadn't looked up and he saw his boyfriend eye's look to him with an expression of concern, obviously he wasn't expecting Cooper to look so distraught.

Cooper appeared to looked like he was going to cry, and Kurt wanted to go up and hug him and say everything would be okay, but he couldn't, he didn't know Cooper, and he didn't know why Cooper abandoned Blaine to the point that Blaine would have lost himself if he hadn't come along, so he couldn't; but then Cooper glanced up having heard them approaching, and his face showed a lot of relief as he looked to Blaine, and Kurt knew then that neither boys wanted this to happen or expected it.

Cooper's face crumpled when seeing his brother, he and he rushed over and gave Blaine a massive hug, holding him tightly with his eyes closed and eyelashes wet from tears threatening to escape as he croaked out "Baby brother,"

"Woah," Blaine said alarmed his hands slipping from Kurt's who stood by the side and watched the interaction not giving anything away as he wasn't sure if Cooper deserved his approval yet but he couldn't help but smile slightly at the surprise exchange and confusion on his boyfriend's face whose back was intense.

"I'm so glad you're okay," Cooper said sincerely "Why wouldn't I be?" Blaine asked in return as Cooper patted his back once more.

Cooper didn't answer and it worried Blaine.

When Cooper let go, Kurt immediately put his hand on Blaine's back and started rubbing it gently. He watched as Blaine's shoulders relaxed instantly and he looked to Kurt on his left with gratitude. Blaine reached for his hand again and held it as an anchor.

"Mum still can't see, but she's handling it better," Cooper said in a very restrained tone as though cautious of what his brother might say only just seeing Kurt and watching as Blaine laced his fingers into Kurt's rather smooth looking hand and gently too be just friends. Cooper raised an eyebrow watching them with slight judgement and Kurt stood his ground.

Blaine sighed and Kurt just nodded to acknowledge that he was there and not to have a go at anyone to Cooper who smiled slightly back at him.

"I don't know how anyone can handle this, let alone mum, she shouldn't have to deal with this by herself,"

"Don't give up on mum yet, she's got us Blaine." Cooper objected as though Blaine was being too harsh.

"I'm not, I'm just worried, and I know she's got us, but it's still not easy not having someone she can relate too, I mean would you want your kids to be the one looking after you?" Blaine argued not looking at him and instead concentrating on Kurt's palm which felt really smooth and comforting in his but Kurt nudged him to listen to his brother.

"I'm really sorry Blaine," Cooper added.

Blaine's head shot up at the quiver in Cooper's voice.

"For what?" Blaine asked because since when has Cooper ever been sorry for something, and it definitely wasn't his fault that their mother couldn't see. He said as much without the bitterness of his own thoughts.

Kurt also looked to Cooper pleased that they were speaking up about it. He sort of predicted what Cooper was going to say but he wanted to hear it himself. He wanted to make sure Blaine didn't run away from this.

"I'm sorry I wasn't here for you, I'm sorry that I ran away from my own responsibilities. I should be the one paying for mum's bills. Not you, I should be looking after your own well being"

"Yeah well, I'm not exactly a kid anymore" Blaine shrugged. "And I'm not mad at you Cooper," Blaine started truthfully with a small smile "You were giving a great opportunity to make a star of yourself, I can't take that away from you either, nobody expected you to stay," He concluded but Cooper frowned.

"I would be. Mad I mean, if I were you; I'm your brother, and the being a star thing Blaine? It's tough, nobody recognises me out there,"

"Aren't you the guy from that commercial? You're the face of the fastest growing international credit rating webstie" Kurt objected after finally having it hit him and Cooper smirked at him. "Yeah, but that's just a lousy f commercial, doesn't make me a star,"

Blaine raised an eyebrow, he wasn't used to this kind of talk from him. "Since when have you been doubtful?" Blaine questioned "You are a star Cooper, I know you're gifted,"

Cooper beamed at his brother. "Yeah I suppose in Lima I am, it's harder competition out there Blainers,"

"Urgh, don't call me that," Blaine cringed. Kurt giggled and Blaine smacked his arm lightly with his other hand.

"Mother told me that dad wasn't paying for her treatment, and I was furious, I thought he was around to help, otherwise I wouldn't have left" Cooper looked once again distraught and Blaine watched his face carefully and shrugged. Face softening because after all he was his brother.

"He hasn't been around at all since you let, mum tried to stay at home so I wouldn't pay, but I wouldn't let her," Blaine grumbled mainly to himself and Cooper gaped at him.

"I'm sorry to interrupt, but would you both like a coffee? I can give you some privacy?" Kurt couldn't help but ask, he felt like he was intruding by just standing there. Cooper's eyes widened. "Oh! I'm sorry, Cooper Anderson , at you service," he handed out a hand for him to shake grinning over the forgotten introduction.

"Pleasure, funny enough Blaine did the same thing when we met" Kurt took his shake in a firm grip.

"Did what?" Cooper asked clearly confused.

"Forget his manners, but I never held it against him after all he's done," Kurt looked proudly at Blaine who blushed a rosy pink in his slightly tanned cheeks.

"Well truth be told Blaine rarely loses his manners, you must be quite a catch to make him forget himself," Cooper winked.

Blaine looked embarrassed and Kurt went scarlet and stumbled over the next word "Thanks, nice to meet you," he added. Cooper smiled "Likewise but how do you know Blaine? I don't remember you from his Dalton group, is he from your college Blaine?"

"Cooper, this is my boyfriend…Kurt," Blaine introduced feeling a bit humiliated that he couldn't tell Cooper he doesn't go to College and Kurt shyly smiled in return.

"Boyfriend…sweet! Bro! You gotta tell me these things,"

Cooper then alertly hugged Kurt; out of their held hands, but Blaine looked amused, allowing himself a smile at his brother's enthusiasm.

"Welcome to the family!" Cooper beamed as Kurt stunned face didn't speak.

"I said boyfriend, not newlyweds!" Blaine laughed pulling his boyfriend back out of harm's way into his sides but his heart did a little flop at the look Kurt gave him which said I wouldn't have minded that term.

"Same thing with you bro, they'd have to be special, because I don't ever recall you ever having a boyfriend,"

"Gee Coop, tell the world would you,"

Kurt looked to him amazed.

"You've never?"

Blaine shook his head in answer.

"Me either," Kurt grinned. "I'm sorry, but how is that possible?" Cooper asked at once to Kurt who forgot he was right there.

"I guess no one was interested, besides not many options at McKinley with a bunch of homophobic Neathendrals," Cooper cracked up at the term. "Seriously they're crazy, you could appear in a magazine; you're that hot," Kurt didn't know what to say, surprised and not sure whether to be offended or not by the too many compliments.

"Ah Cooper, you're straight, remember?" Blaine stated.

"I'm well aware of that Blaine, but I can tell a hot guy when I see one, doesn't mean I'm going to jump his bones,"

"Okaaaay, can we go see mum now please?"

Blaine took Kurt's hand and pulled him in the door as Cooper rolled his eyes.

"No need to be embarrassed baby brother,"

"I'm not a baby," Blaine argued.

"No but you're the youngest so you'll always be my baby brother," Cooper grinned satisfied at the horrified look on Blaine's face as Kurt laughed.

"I hear happiness," Blaine's mother said with a smile on her face as they walked in. Kurt looked to the bed, shocked at how pretty Blaine's mother was. She had beautiful dark brown hair and the same eyes as Blaine's and Kurt could see where his good looks came from as he walked over.

"Why did I hear another voice, Blaine whose your friend?" She asked with a soft voice as Blaine went over and kissed her cheek.

"Mother, Kurt isn't exactly a friend,"

"It's his boyfriend," Cooper told nudging Kurt. Cooper and Kurt were standing to the right side of the bed as Blaine went to his mother and held her hand in the chair next to her shoulder.

"Cooper!" Blaine huffed looking over his shoulder at him.

"What?" Cooper questioned.

"Can't you let me tell these things?" "Nope," Cooper said smugly.

"My name's Kurt Hummel," Kurt went up to Blaine and stood by his side as well and smiled at her even if she couldn't see well, she looked too him, and her eyebrows furrowed.

"Blaine, why does he have such a high voice?" His mother asked.

Blaine's face fell shocked at the question. He thought his mother would be happy for him, not questioning his boyfriend's appearance.

"I was born that way," Kurt said simply, used to those type of comments, even though it hurt to be from a parent, an adult figure.

"Hmm,"

"Mom," Blaine started voice concerned.

"How old are you?" She asked

"16," Kurt hesitated not sure why she sounded like she was threatening him.

"Blaine! He's particularly a baby," His mother's voice rose high and critical as he looked over at Cooper who also seemed to show a look of disapproval and a look of "You didn't tell me that," Cooper always took his parents sides. Blaine suttered

"No mom, he's more mature than you think,"

"I don't want you dating some boy who probably doesn't know for sure if he's gay yet," his mother refused to accept it.

Kurt was offended.

"I am more gay than you think Mrs Anderson, but what I don't understand is how can you judge your son's opinion of me," Kurt said anger building up with hurt as he looked to Blaine who looked frozen on spot.

"Why do you want to date my son? Can't you find someone your own age? Or is it that their pants are not willing,"

"Mom!" Cooper said shocked himself this time "Blaine wouldn't throw himself at just anyone,"

Blaine ran out of the room having had a look on his face like he'd been stabbed. He couldn't bare the thought of his mother's disapproval after all he done trying to help her.

Kurt almost ran after him ignoring Cooper's shouts; hearing him say to her "Why would you say that about Blaine?"

"Blaine!" He yelled trying to catch up to the sobs. He looked down the hall and caught a glimpse of Blaine's jacket as he turned the corner and ran down it calling his name again "Blaine! Stop!"

He saw Blaine collapse as they reached the foyer and screamed "Blaine!"
