Mercedes has had it. She was done with Kurt not talking to her about things with Blaine except that he broke up with him and all she got out of Burt was the same thing but he didn't know much more than that as Kurt wouldn't tell him more.
Than Kurt kept pushing himself in glee club, he even snapped at Mr Shuster "Stop being so Fucking uptight all the time!"
Mercedes noticed that something was wrong, because even Kurt would not normally say anything bad to Mr Shue, even when Mr Shue made him sing with the boys, but swearing? That was not Kurt.
Kurt stormed out of the room as well when Finn who didn't get along well with Kurt wouldn't agree with him to sing with the new boy Sam. Nationals for New York with the Cheerio's was next week as well and Kurt had snapped at Sue when she had at go at him and Mercedes was worried. The Snapping was getting out of hand and it may cost Kurt his place in the finals when she knew how hard Kurt fought to be there for that. It was like he didn't care anymore.
Also? He was also far too underweight which Burt had also warned her about to make sure he ate at school, but no matter how many times she tried to sneak food onto his plate at lunch he ignored it.
She was also done with Blaine not answering her texts when she asked about what happened as clearly they had broken up but nobody explained it to her and watched as he was looking worst week after week and like he never showered, or did anything except go to Zumba and she even heard he turned down his job offer at the Hummel's garage. He moved at average speed as they did Zumba too. He didn't sweat anymore and he misses a few steps apologizing continuously along the way for messing up and he sings "Against all odds'" under his breath which Mercedes picked up on the second week of Kurt and Blaine not seeing each other.
Blaine kept playing the same songs every week. Mercedes figured it had to do with the break up because it reminded her far too much of McKinley when a break up occurred and there was awkwardness between people. This week was no different during the middle of the class and as Blaine played Teenage Dream; Mercedes couldn't take it anymore. She stormed to the front of the class ignoring the stares of her classmates who were giving her warning looks of 'don't do it' and shut off the damn Katy Perry song.
"Enough!" She particularly yelled. Blaine's eyes widened and he looked pale as Mercedes glared at him.
"What is the matter with you Blaine?"
Blaine didn't answer. He shrunk in himself and just stared back alarmed. Shoulders slumped in defeat.
"You hurt my boy, and then you come here and you act like everything's miserable for you when Kurt is the one suffering big time, and you don't even try to contact him?"
"Mercedes…" Mimi hushed but Mercedes didn't stop. Blaine looked like he'd been slapped in the face and that was Mercedes's aim.
"Do you think, we don't get it? Do you think we're too blind to see that you and Kurt are no longer an item and that's why you keep playing the same songs over and over because they remind you of him? Well I'm sorry but you don't get the right to feel sorry for yourself. You broke up with Kurt. Not the other way around; and just so you know Kurt is not doing okay."
"I agreed to keep my distance, doesn't mean I don't wish he was taking care of himself. I'm respecting his wishes," Blaine argued.
"Respecting his wishes? Kurt would only let you go if he really had to. So clearly you must have done or said something that made him agree to such terms. You know what else? I quit Zumba. I've had enough of this crap,"
Mercedes was halfway out the door when out of the silence Joanne spoke up.
"Mercedes, that was out of line. Blaine's human, he makes mistakes, you shouldn't yell at him like that. I'm sure he has good intentions for breaking up with Kurt," Joanne fumed as she defended Blaine.
Blaine was looking overthrown and he began to look like he wanted to run away. Mercedes made a point to glare at him during her next speech. No one messes with her boy.
"Why don't you try and be Kurt's best friend, and finding out that you can't do anything to help him. He's defensive, he's being mean to even his teachers, he's pushing himself too far, to the point where he doesn't sleep and even though he lies to Burt that he does I know the truth because his Spotify shows it's still playing at 3am in the morning, he never eats at school either even though I try to force him and he looks like a rake, he doesn't need this emotional fuckwittage as well,"
Blaine shut his eyes as she said Kurt never eats. It was much worse than he thought. He took a deep breathe to look back at Mercedes, tears were threatening to fall and Mercedes frankly think he deserved this wake up call. The girls were silent as they let her rant on.
"Try watching as he gets bullied by the jocks at school and even his cheerleading coach whose supposed to supporting him in winning nationals not yell her head off at him for doing everything wrong, and then witness him crying in the girls toilet only to brush it off and say it was over the royals but notice a bruise on his arm and couldn't say anything because he'd further push away from people,"
She watches as Blaine finally locks eyes with her and looks alarmed. "He's still getting hurt but I thought…"
Mercedes cut him off "And then witness as the glee club teacher never lets Kurt perform or have a say in what he wants to perform and then find out his boyfriend who I only managed to find out broke up with him when reading a comment on Facebook as his ex-boyfriend's asshole of a brother tells Kurt to stop visiting the hospital because Mrs Anderson doesn't want a faggot hanging around them anymore and because he's Blaine's ex he has no right to be there when all Kurt was clearly showing was that he was worried about you, you don't even try to contact Kurt to see if he's okay,"
"I wanted to,"
"Well why didn't you?"
When Blaine said nothing as though unable to defend himself further she added;
"It appears to be that everyone around Kurt except Burt and his friends in glee club don't approve of him; no wonder he keeps to himself and all I want is my best friend back who never laughs, never smiles and doesn't sing anymore because no one give him a break. Try witnessing all of that and then worry that my best friend might suicide because he looks so god damn tired and frustrated with life," Mercedes started to cry openly and was struggling to get her next words out.
"Try witnessing all of that and then tell me that I was out of line for trying to find some answers when clearly Blaine won't even let out a single breath of air to explain himself because he's so selfish for moping around when he has no right too," At that she stormed off without paying the god damn class in which wasn't worth attending to and slammed the door with a bang.
Mercedes went home and cried. She didn't turn up to school for a week, she was so sick of worry for Kurt that she wasn't sleeping herself and her parents forced her to stay home.
Blaine knew it was time he did something and he dismissed the class wondering what he could do.
First he showered and went to bed because he had to start taking care of himself if he wanted to be able to take care of Kurt.
The next morning Blaine drove to Kurt's house and instead of parking early in the morning like when he arrived, he went down to the coffee shop first and drank a large latte to keep him awake for the day. He didn't sleep well worrying about what Mercedes said about Kurt. When he looked at the clock and was sure that Kurt would be at school he got back in his car and drove back to Burt's house knocking on the door to find a young boy there with brown hair. He wondered if Mercedes was wrong ad Kurt had a new boyfriend.
Surprised he blinked thinking also he might have forgotten what Kurt's house looked like but he was sure he had the address right and it looked the same. "Um…I'm sorry, I'm here for Mr Hummel?"
Blaine felt the boy was a little intimidating. Must be the height.
"Hold on a minute, I don't know if he's home. MOM SOME BOY IS HERE TO SEE BURT," The boy yelled down the house.
Like really, he couldn't go and tell whoever this woman was himself?
A nice looking lady appeared at the door.
"Finn can you tell Kurt that he needs to get out of bed he already missed first class of school,"
"I'm not his brother mom. If he was to miss class when Burt was here, he would miss class. I have enough worries about getting to football practise," The boy named Finn said as he stormed off.
The lady sighed. "I'm sorry about that, new living arrangements, he's not used to being told orders,"
"I can see you're busy…I'll just go sorry to intrude Mrs Uh…"
"Mrs Hudson, but you can call me Carole,"
The truth was he had thought Kurt wouldn't be there and he didn't want to risk Kurt seeing him.
"Sorry to intrude Mrs Hudson,"
"You're not intruding, if you need to see Burt, he's in the garage,"
Oh.
"Okay. Thank you mam,"
Carole chuckled. "Well aren't you a polite young man. You're not from around here are you? What's your name?"
Blaine shook his head. "No mam. My name's Blaine. I'm from Westerville, it's nice meeting you,"
"You too sweetie!"
Before he left he turned to face her ago whispering. "Uh, mam?"
The lady tilted her head and waited for him to say something. "Yes?"
"Can you make sure Kurt eats breakfast before he goes,"
Her eyes widen.
"Are you a friend of his?"
"I'd like to think so," Blaine smiles at her as she nods.
"I'll make sure he does,"
"Thank you," He adds with a smile and leaves to go to the garage. Burt is just popping his head out of a car wiping grease of his hands when he spots Blaine,"
"Blaine!" Blaine is surprised as Burt walks to him and gives him a pat on the shoulder.
"I'd give you a hug but…" Blaine laughs softly when noticing the grease and smiles.
"How you been?"
"Living I guess. I was wondering, is that job still on offer?"
