Annabeth's POV

I sit against a tree, eating what used to be a small snake. Hopefully the fire I had used to cook it hadn't attracted any attention. I don't think it did, because I've been sitting here for quite some time. I managed to locate the Cornucopia, but a few tributes, including Clove, were already gathered there, so I had to change my plan. I'm planning on finding a tree with a view of the entire arena so I can try to locate the others. Unfortunately, I haven't found one.

Sighing, I stand up, brushing dirt off my clothes. I look around at my surroundings- trees, tree, trees, and… trees. Bet you couldn't guess that last one. I can see the smoke of a camp fire in the distance, but I know it's not Percy's. I had warned Percy that if you light a fire in the arena, you might as well walk into a gathering of lions with sausages around your neck.

As I journey through the woods, I wonder where Katniss and Peeta are. I hope Percy is smart enough to know that he should look for them instead of me. Even though I desperately want to see Percy again, Katniss and Peeta are our first and most important priority.

Thalia's POV

"I'm so tired," Nico complained. "When do you think we'll find them?"

I shake my head, "Who knows? Hopefully soon."

Percy sighs, "Complaining won't make this go by any faster, guys."

"If only it did," I heard Nico mutter under his breath. We had been walking for hours, so it's not surprising that he's tired. Suddenly, an idea crosses my mind, and I hang onto it.

"Nico, could you shadow travel to Katniss and Peeta?" I ask, suddenly hopeful.

He looks at me, considering it. After a second, he says, "I could. But then you'd have to find the three of us, so you'd just be worse off than you were before. I'd have to travel a little distance away from them so I'm not seen, but that's not really an issue."

"Maybe we could find some sort of area to meet up at? Somewhere that's not hard to find?" Percy suggests, continuing to walk.

"Like where?" I look around. There's a large tree in the distance that's not very hard to spot. If you managed to climb up it, you could easily see the entire arena.

"Why not there?" I ask, pointing to the tree in the distance. The three of us stop, considering the option. Yeah, it wouldn't be easy, but what other option do we have? It's better than walking around the entire arena.

Percy nods, "Doesn't look like a bad spot. You up for it Nico?"

Nico shrugs, "Sure. Looks like the best plan we've got." The shadows begin to form around Nico, and, a second later, they surround him. Nico disappears, and, hopefully, reappears near Katniss and Peeta.

Nico's POV

"Oh shi-!" I land in a tree and promptly begin to tumble to the ground. Thankfully, no one's around to see or hear my fall, at least I don't think there is. Groaning, I stand up, rubbing my head.

Looking around, I notice the silhouette of two people, easily identifiable as a male and female. Katniss and Peeta. I sigh in relief and begin to slowly and soundlessly make my way over to the two.

"-You have to come down sometime, Katniss!" The voice is easily recognizable as Cato's, the District 2 male tribute. Now having a better look around, I notice that there are more than just two people here. There are five- Marvel, Glimmer, Cato, Clove and Peeta. I'm not surprised Peeta was here, as in where we're standing, but I'm surprised he's with the District 1 and 2's. I had just assumed that he had allied with Katniss, but it seems like that's the opposite of what's happening. I can't imagine a single reason why Peeta would help kill Katniss. Not that he's going to succeed.

I notice Katniss in the tree that the five tributes are surrounding. She doesn't notice me at first, but when she does, her eyes widen. I make a "shh" gesture with my finger and quietly step closer to the group. Just as I'm about to attack, Glimmer tries to hit Katniss with an arrow. She misses multiple times before Cato snaps.

"Give me that," Cato grumbles, grabbing the bow from the girl's hand. He tries to shoot Katniss a few times himself, and, like Glimmer, missed. One shot did come close to hitting Katniss, but she dodged it quickly.

Cato then attempts to climb the tree, using his sword as handle. A few feet off the ground, Cato's sword slowly wedges itself out of the tree, causing Cato fall. He tries again and climbs higher than he did last time, but his sword fails him again and he falls.

"Come on guys," Peeta says at last, "She's got to come down eventually, right? Let's just spend the night here." The group agrees and disperses. Peeta and Katniss' eyes lock- Peeta looks guilty, but Katniss looks plainly angry. Peeta looks away after a moment and begins to try to make himself useful by making a campfire. Every now and then, he looks back up at Katniss, but I don't think she notices.

Katniss' attention is focused on me, most likely wondering how I found her and what I'm doing there. She looks down at the group, who are talking quietly amongst one another. She points to them, most likely asking me to eavesdrop. I nod, crouching and beginning to silently get closer to the tributes, still hidden by the trees.

"-How about the District Four female tribute? I think her name was Annabelle. No, Annabeth. I recognize her from training- she was strong. We fought in the Cornucopia, but some dumbass decided to step in and save Annabeth. The two ran off into the woods before I could gather my bearings. She and her district partner are a threat. We should after them next," Clove said, her voice quiet. She looks behind her to make sure nobody was there, and turns back to the group after confirming that nobody was overhearing them. She has a few throwing knives in her hand, and, based on what I've heard, can use them really well. Probably something to watch out for, especially since she and her group are now a big threat to my group.

"Good idea," Cato says, nodding. "I'm pretty sure the District Four tributes are allied with the District Eleven ones. The District Four tribute, Perseus, is someone to be really careful with. He's incredibly skilled with a sword, maybe even a little more than I am. I saw him and the District Eleven female tribute run into the woods together. Hopefully, it's just the two of them. We could probably take them out quickly and move onto Annabeth and District Eleven male tribute, assuming that they haven't separated. After that, there aren't any other threats."

Peeta looks wary, "Are you sure we should kill them?"

"Yes," Cato says suspiciously. "Why?"

"I mean, well, uh… Like you said, Percy's really skilled. So is Annabeth and the other two. We could use them."

Marvel shakes his head, "No, our group would be too large. It's already big enough as it is. The best option is to just get rid of them."

I back away from the group and head back to my original spot. Katniss looks at me expectantly, wanting an answer. I shake my head and mouth "Not now." She nods, looking over at the group, the group's campfire reflecting in her eyes, making it look like her eyes had fire in them.
