Okay, so I was reading reviews, and I just wanted to clear up some things:
MikanMD: He's doubting her alliance mostly because of his feelings for her. He's jealous that Thalia's thinking of Luke and not him, and his jealously is preventing him from being sensible.
.kawaii: No one in either the Capitol or Districts speak Greek, at least I don't think they do, so it'd be a big giveaway if the demigods started speaking in an unknown language that isn't taught in the time period.
Disclaimer: I do not own the Hunger Games or Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
Percy's POV
I watch as Annabeth's expression slowly becomes one of realization, disbelief, and suspicion. She, after a moment of what looked like pretty deep thinking and analyzing, shakes her head and says, "I know what you're saying. Thalia will not join up with Luke, she's not like that, Nico."
Nico shrugs, "I didn't ask you to believe me, but I know what I saw."
"What did you see?" I asked, finally saying something. I'm not sure how I feel about the entire situation. I don't think Thalia would betray us, but it's not like I knew her too well, not like Annabeth did at least.
"Thalia was carving Luke's name into the ground. It's either the Luke we know oh so dearly, or some other Luke Thalia happens to know. She hurriedly tried to explain why she wrote it, so it was obviously Luke Castellan's name she was writing. Or am I just being crazy?" Nico looked back over at Thalia, who looked up at him. He averted his eyes quickly, looking towards the ground. He ran a hand through his hair and looked at me, a desperate and tired look in his, like he just wanted to be invisible, or just not here at all. It's not a feeling unknown to me.
Annabeth shrugged, "I, I don't know. We'll just to wait and see. I know that sounds stupid, but we can't just go accusing her of anything, especially not something like this. She'd think we don't trust her, and she just might turn to Luke." At that last part, Annabeth lets out a noise that sounds like a combination of a sigh, cough, and cry. "I can't believe us. Why are we doubting each other? Aren't we supposed to be friend? Is this what the arena does to people?"
Nico looks guilty, scratching the back of his neck. He looks over toward Katniss and Peeta, who seemed to have begun to become interested in our conversation, even though they can't hear us. "I mean, I don't know. Maybe I'm just overreacting, maybe I'm not, but I think we should just forget about it." After all that, he just wants to drop it?
Annabeth nods, sucking in a breath, "Yeah, you're right, let's just forget about it. So… what do you think Katniss and Peeta are talking about?"
I look over Nico's head to see Peeta and Katniss talking quietly, sneaking glances over at us every minute or so. I shrug, "By the looks of it, us. About what, though, I don't know. I hope they trust us."
"I think they do," Annabeth says, "I don't see a reason why they wouldn't."
"What do you think we should do? About the other tributes, I mean. Cato and Marvel are still out there, and so is Luke," I say, hoping to steer the conversation.
"We should let Cato and Marvel take out the other tributes, and we can deal with Luke," Nico says, rubbing his forehead. "We should probably go out looking for Luke, so we get the upper hand and avoid being ambushed."
Annabeth nods, "Yeah, we should see if Luke's allied with someone or if he's just by himself."
"Sounds like a plan," I say.
Thalia's POV
I watch as Annabeth, Percy, and Nico talk to Katniss and Peeta. I catch the words "Luke," "Search," and "Tributes." I don't think they're talking about me, but I can't be too sure. Nico thinks that I'm not loyal to the group, so he probably already told the others that they should be wary of me. He wouldn't give even me a chance to explain. Hopefully I'll get a chance to clear things up soon.
"Thalia, over here," Annabeth says, gesturing to come over to where she is. I do, brushing off dirt from my pants as I stand up.
As I sit down, Percy says, "We think we have a plan for the rest of the 'Games."
"Okay…," I say, angry that I wasn't included in making these decisions, "What did you come up with?"
"We're going to let Marvel and Cato get rid of the other tributes and then take them out after everybody's gone. But we're going to start looking for Luke. We don't want him to get the upper hand, so we're going to try to get him while he's not expecting it," Katniss says, looking at me in a way that makes me think that's she observing my reactions.
I nod, "Alright, sounds good. When do you want to leave?"
"Now," Percy replies, "So we can, hopefully, find him sooner. We all think it'd be best to get this over with."
"So do I. But how would we find him? This place is huge."
"We think that Luke is either near the Cornucopia or in the tree line. Katniss told us that she saw him near those areas toward the beginning of the Games. Hopefully he's not smart enough to leave," Peeta says, looking at me without the judgment I see in everyone else's eyes.
"Then what are we waiting for?" I ask, even though I'm deadly afraid of what's to come.
