Coma
He watched as the chest rose and fell, soft, rhythmic, and deceptively reassuring. One hand curled in outgrown curls, the other clasping fingers that lay limp and unaware against the stark pale sheets.
Lex stared out at the sky, daring himself to glare right into the sun that would burn his eyes if not for the barrier between them. He only looked upwards, to the hopeful sky. The grass below was too green, like the kryptonite that had destroyed him.
Glancing back down at Clark's impossibly still body, Lex bowed his head.
It was never supposed to be this way.
