A/N: Well, I wrote this story when I was 15. It's a very cheesy but cute one-shot. Just did a rewrite to fix grammar and help it flow a little better. Enjoy!

Through Love's Eyes

I trail behind my teammates along a winding rocky path, kicking any stones I can find along the way. The stones skip dully, forming lil puffs of dirt until they land.

Well, I'm trailin' behind everyone except Raven. Who's walkin' slower than a snail with her nose buried between the pages of her book. Can those stories really be that interesting? Are they even stories? Are they magic book thingies? What're they called? Spellbooks? Anyways, I swear she rarely looks up when she's reading.

'Guuhhhh'.

I walk clanging right into Cy's back and rub my head to see him runnin' off. The winding path has ended, and turned into an open field. This is Jump City Park, the best nature place in the city. The tiny specs of grass glisten on every inch of ground. Trees are scattered throughout. And their leaves shuffle to the rhythm of the cool spring breeze.

Browsin' around, I see the others have taken off to do their own thang. Cy stands over the grill, exaggeratingly blowin' and flappin' a piece of cardboard over the coal trying to get it working. Star and Robin sit on a bench near the grill lookin' all cozy and lovey-dovey. Star's squeeing giggles carry loudly through the park. Raven reads under her usual tree, close enough but still far away from the others. I think she's got the right idea. So, I go lookin' for a space of my own and plop onto a bench a good distance away from everyone with a very audible sigh.

Sulking, I slouch onto the wooden bars on the bench. Truth is, it's been a few months since I last saw Terra and she claimed that it "wasn't her". Except that well, it clearly was her. But maybe she just didn't wanna be Terra anymore. I haven't seen her since. And I haven't gone lookin' for her either. But something still aches inside me every time I think of her. Raven's been helpin' me out with all that though. Who knew that after throwin' me into other dimensions a couple thousand times, we'd become really good friends. Actually more than really good friends, she's my best friend really. Other than Cy of course, but that doesn't count. It's different. She's the only one I can talk to about this stuff. Cy just shrugs it off, tells me to go date other chicks. But Raven's taught me meditation techniques, y'know when I can actually manage to sit still enough to do 'em, to help work through the tornado of feelings. They've been kinda useful, but talking to her is the best. Raven's pretty good at listenin' and giving advice. She even started opening up to me about the whole thing she went through with Malchior. Ugh, Malchior. I swear every time I think of what he did to her I just want to punch him in the face. But I like to think I'm there for her now. She doesn't need him. I know it's not the same but still.

I shut my eyes as I feel the cool breeze pressing against my face. Cupping my head in my hands, I sigh and just let my mind wander.

"Yo BB!" I turn to see Cy wavin' from the grill, pointing and signaling for me to go over. I shake my head and give him a small faked smile. He shrugs and slaps a massive piece of steak onto the grill.

I let myself get lost in my thoughts again.

Clank.

"Aaaaaaaauuuuch." I rub my head and peep from one eye to see what hit me. A red frisbee sits before me on the grass.

"Hey man! Can you pass me my - WOAH, wait!" I turn around to see an ecstatic teenage boy dressed in oversized skater clothing, cartoonishly pulling his hair in excitement. He zooms over beside me. "Beast Boy, right?! From the Teen Titans?!" The kid's practically bouncing up and down in joy.

"Yeah, that's me!" I respond with an awkward chuckle, handing the boy his frisbee.

"Awesome, man! You're SO lucky!" And I swear I can see twinklin' stars in his eyes.

"Yeah, dude!" I exclaim giving him a high five. Fans are always cool. I love meetin' my fans, but I know I'm a little off today, so I try giving him my best smile.

"'And maaaaan, you get to live with her!" The teenager swirls and points an overly obvious finger over at Raven, leaving me stumped for a minute.

"Raven?" I question almost to myself, tilting my head as I gaze over at her still diving nose first into her book. And although she didn't look up, I gave her a small smile. I am lucky to live with my best friend.

"I mean look at her!" My eyes scan over her features. The boy continues rambling on, his voice fainting into the background as I examine Raven.

"...and her eyes are just gorgeous, I mean, have you ever seen eyes so beautiful?"

It hits me like that frisbee, I really have never seen such beautiful eyes. The soft amethyst of her eyes glide effortlessly over the pages of her book. And I wish that she would look up at me. I wanna try telling her a joke, y'know one she actually finds funny and not one makes her want to zap me away. 'Cause when she's happy, laughing, there's a little sparkle that glows from the depths of her eyes. That sparkle is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.

"...her hair is so pretty, she just dazzles me at the sight..." His faint dreamy voice continues on and on barely registering in my ears as I examine the violet locks framing elegantly around her face.

"...and her facial features are perfect. I mean man, she's perfect!"

She absently bites her lip as she turns the next page, and I'm captivated by the softness of her lips. By the delicate bridge of her nose. The bright shimmer of her cheekbones. The light furrow of her brows as she reacts to the words she's reading. And I realize the boy's right, she's so...perfect.

"...Ha, and her body! She's hot, eh? EHH!" He bumps my shoulder several times with amusement, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively and practically screaming in my ears.

I find myself scanning over her body again. She's like a sculpture, a work of art. And I'm truly mesmerized by her beauty.

"Well, later man! Awesome meeting you!" I barely register his goodbye as I notice him sprinting away, frisbee in hand.

I focus on examining her eyes, and find myself wanting to call her name so she'll look at me. So I can see her two sparkling violet gems. My heart starts thudding at a slow pace. Everything seems to start warping in slow motion and time, suddenly stands still. Suddenly, Raven and I are the only ones in this park, in this city, in this country, in this world.

And then I realize it's Raven. It's always been Raven. It was Raven when my inner Beast felt the need to protect. It was Raven when I saw her distancing herself from the team, and I bugged her to play videogames with me. When at the carnival, I wanted to win her the giant chicken. It was Raven when I wanted her to actually feel like the luckiest girl in the world. When her heart was broken and I only wanted to see her smile. Even when she caused the end of the world, I only wanted her to have a normal birthday. And when my heart was broken, it was Raven that helped me heal. It was Raven who always stuck up for me. Who broke out of her shell to play stankball and have waffles for dinner with me. It was Raven. It's always been Raven. It is Raven.

And I can't stop grinnin' from ear to ear. My eyes are glued to the dazzling sight of her. But there's one more thing I want to examine about her, and it isn't possible from here. So, I make my way over to the beautiful cloaked empath and plop down in front of her with a huge smile. She drifts her eyes from the pages of the book, her pair of violet pearls looking quizzingly at me with the quirk of an eyebrow. My heart skips more than a couple of beats.

"Beast Boy," she notes in her usual monotone with slight apprehension. "Can..I help you?" But there's a ting behind the flatness of her voice. Something more. It's the melody of her voice. The light raspiness that sounds as sweet as a ruffling wind chime. And this is what I wanted to hear. And I want her to keep talking so that my ears are filled with the enchanting tune. My heart flutters, and I also want to hear her laugh. Except that if I tried right now, she'd only find me annoyin'. So I opt for a different approach.

I downsize my goofy smile as heat rushes to my cheeks.

"Hey Raven, well...um...I just wanted to talk to you. I guess I need some advice," I manage to awkwardly string together.

She nods, closing her book and turning all her attention on me. I clear my throat a little, trying to get rid of the shakiness of my voice.

"Well," I begin but I don't really know what I'm gonna say. But then an idea pops into my head in the nick of time. "Y'see, there's this girl I really like and-"

"You're over Terra?" she interjects, her eyes narrowing in on mine in confusion.

I give her a small chuckle, realizing my answer. "Yeah. I mean this girl is perfect in every way. She's beautiful, smart, kind, sensitive-"

"Sounds perfect," she interrupts again.

"She is," I say, losing myself in her eyes. "You have no idea how perfect she is."

"So, what's the problem?" The flatness of her tone deepens, although her expression is changed.

"Well, I dunno if she likes me back."

"You should tell her how you feel." She looks away absently, her eyes scan for the others. I see her fidgeting with her hands and trying to leave. "Go tell her. I'm going to join the others and eat some barbecue."

She stands up and I grab her wrist, pulling her back. "I just did," I blurt out and she stares at me blankly at the sudden gesture. "I just told her how I feel." I fixate my eyes on her, swimming in the abyss of her pupils. And I swear I can almost see that sparkle in her eyes shimmering. I give her a small shy smile. My heart thuds out of my chest waiting for her answer. 'Cause what if she doesn't like me? I mean, chicks dig the pointy ears, right? But Raven isn't just some random chick. She's Raven. 'Aw, man.' I start thinkin' that I should've thought this through better. Robin's always goin' on about how I'm too impulsive and blah blah blah. But I follow my instincts. Maybe this is one of those times I shoulda listened. What if it gets awkward now? Dude, what if she's about to send me to another dimension? What if she doesn't want to be my friend anymore? Did I just mess up our friendship? What if-?

"Let's go eat." She pulls me towards her with a small smile, tugging my arm and guiding us to an empty picnic table. Her fingers intertwine with mine. I give her a big goofy grin as I gently squeeze Raven's hand. Then I realize, I'm holding Raven's hand. It's Raven. And I must be the luckiest guy in the world.
