He sat, staring blankly at the stubborn LED of his answering machine. Why wouldn't it blink? He'd already replaced and tested the LED three times. It should be working.
"Alone in my room, with no calls from you."
He didn't understand it. He understood almost nothing right now. He had been operating his entire life on the basis of one simple concept. The idea that he and Valerie were in love. To have all that ripped away…
"I thought that this would never end."
In truth, Odie had never even considered the possibility that he and Valerie would break up.
