I don't own Pokemon or the characters in any sort of way. I thought my last chapter was too short so I uploaded this one right away; don't blame me for it!!! I also get tired of this story (don't worry It'll be finished in about 4 weeks or so)

Chapter 17: Can't Let You Go
"May! DON'T" a scream filled the cave and before May knew she was pulled into a hug.
"No May" Drew whispered in her ear. May shivered; "what are you doing here?"
Drew tightened his grip around the girl; "looking for you" he answered.
"No, what are you doing here?"
"Trying to stop you from doing stupid things" Drew said.
He had realised when he was running outside, she'd probably try to get to the other side of the mountain as quickly as possible. Then he had noticed the cave. He had first checked the path she could have taken, but he suspected he had gone in there.
Thus he had ran inside, to find a glowing May. In the presence of a creature Drew recognized as Vovori, the Pokemon Professor Kardi had shown him.
He suddenly realised that was what Kardi meant that he had to keep an eye on her. She would be tempted to let Vovori heal the scar but she would also pay the prize.
And he didn't want to lose her over and over again. He wanted to tell her and have a small chance she would return the feelings.
But therefore, she had to have feelings.
"I don't want to let you go again" he whispered in her ear.
May pulled away, her eyes big.
"Drew I've told you, I don't exist anymore, forget about me; Please" she plead.
Drew clenched his fist, he was extremely angry but he couldn't do a thing about it.
"Because of what? I don't understand May, what did I do wrong? We parted as friends, so why can't I be your friend again? Why May? Why can't you let me in?"
May turned her head away.
"Because of your scar? You're pushing me away because of your face?" Drew asked, a slight frustration was heard through his voice, now he had a hard time mastering his feelings.
"Drew, you don't understand...." May cried.
Drew shook his head; "No May, I don't and you don't seem to be able to explain it to me!" he shouted.
May bit back her tears; "I was afraid...I thought you..." she stuttered.
Drew's face hardened; "That I would mock you and insult you" he sneered, his eyes hard as well.
"And that I would push you away because you simply don't look perfect anymore, am I right?" he asked.
May looked down, she didn't want to answer the question, but her silence said enough.
"I see" he simply said.
May looked up and saw he looked hurt; "How long have you known me? How long have we been rivals? How long are we friends now?" Drew asked.
"But that all doesn't mean you wouldn't push me away. Everything around you is perfect; you are perfect. I just don't fit the picture. I'm..."
"Not?" Drew asked slightly amused.
Vovori looked at the two and said nothing. He could tell this was important and her choice would depend on it. Besides; he was not the one to be impatient.
"May, I'm not perfect; to me you are. It isn't about looks anymore. And that scar..." Drew followed the edge of the scar with his finger.
May shivered under this tender touch.
"I only saw it when you pointed it out to me" he whispered in her ear.
"Drew, I'm sorry...." May said
Drew frowned; "for what?"
A tear escaped her eye; "for not letting you know and then for lying to you"
Drew smirked; "Never thought I would say this but I could care less about that" his eyes glistered, though it wasn't because of his happiness.
"But..." May said.
Drew frowned; "but what?"
May shook her head; "I don't want to continue living like this..." Drew gawked at her; she couldn't be saying this!?!
"I...have the chance to be May again, without scar" May softly said.
"And you'll continue with this, even if you know the ultimatum, your sacrifice for this?" Drew asked breathlessly.
"I continue, even if I know the ultimatum" May confirmed.
Drew nodded, though it felt like there was a lump in his throat; "Then I'll make the sacrifice for you" he said.
May stopped in her breath, why did he say such a thing; "No Drew, it's my choice, my life, and its my sacrifice, not yours"
Drew turned around and faced her; his eyes had dried up now, but left them with the strange emptiness of somebody who could give up life in an instant, just because life held no value anymore.
"No May, it does have something, or even better, everything to do with me"
May shook her head; "No, you should be able to love..."
"Anybody but you?" Drew sneered; "You do realize I already tried that. I tried to forget you..."
May looked at the ground; she knew what was coming, and hell screamed to her she deserved it.
"...obviously, I couldn't, or I wouldn't be here". He continued with a softer voice, "how can I continue without you?" he asked.
May bit her lip; "But you wouldn't. We still could be friends"
"NO, WE CAN'T, Can't you see!?!! I don't want to be just a friend to you. I want to be so much more" he looked away after he yelled at her.
"I can't be around you without longing for you; Heck! I don't even have to be around you for that!! I can't continue without any small glimpse of hope. Any hope on being more than just friends" he said but his voice died in his throat.
He knew, she knew this already because he told Sora, but now he told May, he felt the last threads of his despair snap.
"I rather throw away my ability to love, than knowing you can't love me in any possible way" he said softly, almost whispering.
May frowned sadly; "But..." Drew shook his head and turned to Vovori; "No buts, I've made my decision"
He opened his eyes and looked at the patient creature, who had followed their desperate conversation; "Vovori; I know what you ask as repayment. And you can take it, to heal May's face"
Vovori nodded.
"But first..."Drew said softly. He leaned in on May but she backed away. She was well aware of what he wanted; but she couldn't
She couldn't kiss him, with half of her face.
Drew's eyes shimmered with unshed tears but he did not cry; he wouldn't have to, there was no reason to cry about in about just a second.
"Hey Bro; what's goin' on her'"?
