Chapter 19; The reason why tears fall.

Drew sped out the cave; it was no longer a place he wanted to be.

May had gotten her face back, and he knew things would turn out just as the way they were before.

They would be rivals again. Friendly rivals but still. Back to the bickering and arguing only to part in the end with a guilty feeling.

It was no longer the kind of relationship Drew wanted to have.

"Drew..." the cave hollered.

Wait a sec.?! The cave?!?!

Last time he checked a cave wasn't able to talk.

"Drew!!!" he heard again, louder this time. Drew realized it was May's voice and he quickened his step. He did not want to her to see him cry.

Heck he never cried!!! He had promised himself he would never cry again ever since that fateful day Solidad had shown him the paper, and he had realized May was gone.

He did not want to cry this time either, though water threatened to fall from his eyes. But he did not want to get his heart shattered, even if it was broken already.

And thus he raised his step even more and pretended not to hear her, or at least pretend like he didn't care May was calling him.

"Drew, please stop!" he heard her plead.

Drew closed his eyes, pressing them tightly and kept his pace.

"Drew!!!!" he heard her now very close, too close. Suddenly her hand landed on his shoulder.

She didn't grab him tightly or held him from walking, but her hand was warm and gentle. Drew's legs didn't obey him anymore, and he was forced to stop.

"Drew, please don't walk away from me" she softly said.

"Why?" He asked, his throat was way too hoarse to seem unaffected.

"Drew? Are you...crying?" May asked.

"No I'm not! And you avoided my question" Drew said harshly.

May hesitated; "Because I don't want you to walk away from me" she answered him.

"Why?" Drew asked again.

"Why do I have to answer your questions when I've got too many too count myself as well?" May snapped, her voice sounded as loud cry.

"Because I have waited 2 and a half years to ask them" Drew snapped back at her. He clenched his teeth to let anger take the best of him.

"Then why are you trying to walk away from me?" May asked darkly

Drew turned and May noticed that he; though he said he didn't, had cried.

"Because you told me twice to do so, and now I've seen your smile and I know you'll be alright, I do as you asked" he said. His voice held no wavering anymore, and he sounded almost cold.

"And you? Will you be alright?" May asked, though she knew the answer. Drew had told her before, though he had not realized he did. It was his whole reason to throw everything away.

"I don't know..." Drew said after he'd turned around, his back at May and he wanted to stalk off again. But May grabbed his arm and clang to it.

"So you're just going to walk away witho..."

"May stop it!!!" Haven't you caused enough pain?" Drew interrupted her.

"Pain?" May asked confused.

Drew sighed, 'why is she making this so hard?' he asked himself, but of course there was no way out.

"Yes May, Pain: Drew explained as if explaining to a kid."You probably won't care, but when you disappeared you caused pain. Have you ever lost someone close to you?"

May shook her head; she maybe did not realize Drew couldn't see her, since his back was the only thing that face her.

"Probably not. But I did. Have you ever experienced as if a part of you heart had been taken?" he asked and May shook her head again. "Because I did. Somebody could as might as well have torn my heart from my chest, maybe it would have hurt less."

he finally turned around; "So yes May, you caused pain, and when I thought the wound had closed and I finally had overcome it, Sora appeared" he said.

"But..." May wanted to protest. Drew narrowed his eyes; "But what?" he sneered. "You might not have noticed but I certainly have; you and Sora are alike, for example your blue eyes" Drew shook his head, eyes closed, knowing those blue eyes were staring at him and probably tearing up.

"But you're walking away from me, then why? May asked, not understanding why he acted the way he did.

Drew snapped his eyes open; "God May! Don't you see it? Can't you tell? Can't you figure out what the whole world knew already? I've fallen head over heels for you, for a long time now. I'm just trying to keep what's left of my heart from more pain. A few moments ago, I was ready to throw everything life stood for and you couldn't even accept one kiss from me" he half-yelled.

"I get the hint May! You don't have to make yourself even clearer. But let me ask you on thing. What have I done for you to hate me so much?" Drew asked. The sad shimmer had disappeared from his eyes, leaving them dull and clouded.

May had the feeling if it weren't for her, he would have thrown himself over the edge of the mountain-path, to embrace the stones at the bottom of the cliff.

She shook her head; "But I don't hate you, never have, and never will"

"Then why do you have to hurt me that much?!!!" Drew shouted; no longer able to hold back his anger and frustration.

"I wouldn't have done that if I had known. Besides I was afraid. Of what you would think of me. I don't want to be pitied by anyone, and not by you. I didn't want you to think, and I know you would, I was just some lost glory, a shadow of who I was"

"Then why?"

"What's there to why about, Drew?" May yelled. "I was gone and I've hurt you, but it wasn't like I wanted it so bad." she said.

May sat down on the edge of the path. Drew sat down next to her. Without saying a word they watched the sun set.
