Just a short little piece of fluff that I wrote in twenty minutes. I had to get it out of my head and I think it's pretty crappy, contrary to what my friend, Lily says. (By the way, to all you Smitchie readers out there. Go check out her story What's Their Name. It's really good! And I'm not just saying it cuz I beta it!)
I hope you like this story!
Caitlyn moaned in content as her boyfriend of four years gave her a gentle neck rub. "That's right… Just a little higher," she murmured softly, leaning into his touch. After twelve hours of work at the studio with Mitchie, the twenty-one year old was beat (even if over six hours of it had merely been gossip). And the way she listened through her headphones didn't help her neck very much, either.
Nate complied with her request. "Caitlyn, you should really stop holding your headphones in against your ear and neck," he remarked. "Otherwise, this is going to become a daily kind of thing."
"Then I should do that more often."
"Sweetie, you really shouldn't do it," Nate chided softly.
Caitlyn noticed the nickname that Nate used, but said nothing. Probably just a slip of the tongue, she thought. After four years of being together, Nate knew that she didn't like terms of endearments. She just preferred using their names and nothing more. She could put up with an occasional "sweetie" or "dear" but nothing more.
"Have you already eaten, Caity?"
Caitlyn turned her neck to stare blankly at her boyfriend, effectively stopping her massage. Raising a slender eyebrow and perching an arm on the couch, she asked, "Haven't we discussed about the sickly sweet terms of endearment and nicknames?"
"Right," he said. When Caitlyn turned back around, he began massaging her neck once more. "Sorry, Cait."
She turned back around to face him, her stormy gray eyes narrowing slightly. "Nate," she warned. "Don't call me nicknames like those."
He merely laughed and lifted his hands off her neck. Before she could protest, Nate walked around to face her. When he kneeled down on knee, Caitlyn's previous annoyance vanished. She took a shaky breath and felt tears forming in her eyes. She forced herself to look into his soft brown ones.
Reaching into his pocket, Nate pulled out a small box. Opening it, he revealed a simple diamond ring to Caitlyn. "Then can I call you my wife, instead?"
Caitlyn gave Nate a watery smile. "Now that's one nickname I won't mind."
I haven't written CR fics in a while and I had this idea in my head so I figured I'd write one. I hope you didn't cringe from it!
