They ate dinner together, at a bar Jack didn't even notice the name of.
The shock and confuseion stilll warring in his mind as Tru babbled on about some subject or other. Suddenly her eached over a took Tru's hand, turning it over and studying her palm. Tru's words stumbled to a halt as she watched the gentleness playing in his eyes as he intently stroked her skin.
Jack glanced up at her, eyes sparkling with a strange, forign happiness. Tru had never seen him like this before but chose not to comment on it. Why spoil it?
"I think," Jack started, looking back down at Tru's hand, still cradled in his own "That we will make this work." He smiled, glancing back up at her with a look of boyish joy on his face and Tru wondered how long it had been since he had had someone to love him. someone he could love back.
"I hope so," Tru whispered back, smiling slightly "I really do."
