A.N. Back again it's been a while but I've been working away at several fics. Mainly Supercorp, Olicity and Jemily but here is the first chapter of my first Supercorp! I am nearly finished with this story (at least I hope I am as it's currently over 25,000 words). I promised myself I wouldn't update until I was finished but ... here we are.

Anyone who has read any of my stories should know to expect sickeningly sweet fluff!

Anyways let me know what you think.

The Engagement

Chapter One - The Board

After the chairman of the board finished telling her exactly what the board had decided at the meeting they had conducted without her presence, Lena slowly stood up from her office chair, placed her hands on desk in front of her and leant on them in a menacing manor. "I beg your pardon." She said in measured tone.

"This isn't my decision, Lena." Dominic told her, "I actually voted against this but the board does believe that this idea will help improve the image of Luthor Corp after your brother's multiple ... crimes and as much as I don't want to vote with this idea for your sake and happiness, I do think the arguments had merit."

"I have already taken steps to improve the image of this company and as you are well aware this company is now called L-Corp not Luthor Corp, the rebranding has been approved and completed to try to navigate away from the negativity of the Luthor name. I am working with Supergirl, who is also my best friend by the way, also with the new DEO whose director is another close friend of mine and the adoptive sister of Supergirl which I know you also know. I have redoubled my efforts to have the company attached to multi charities, a lot of which are involved in trying to help those that Lex's madness hurt the most AND I have founded the Lena Luthor foundation to help as many as I can, why on Earth do you think the public needs to see me marry someone?"

"The idea is that it if you marry someone of influence that it will bring stability to the image of the company ..."

"Dominic the answer is no." Lena stated with finality in her tone.

"Look just ... think about it. I've known you for a long time Lena, I knew your father as well and I can tell you that your business sense in infinitely better than Lex's and Lionel's and I know you are doing your best but you have to keep the board onside for you to succeed." He stood and fastened the buttons on his suit jacket as he made to leave. "They expect your decision by Friday," He held his hand up to forestall Lena's objections that she had already made her decision and opened the door. "Think about it, Lena." With that he walked from the office and Lena collapsed into her chair.

On Earth-38, when she had taken over from her maniac of a brother after his multiple attempts to kill Superman the board hadn't insisted that she marry anyone. In this reality that never happened and Lex mainly went after Supergirl and well ok, his evil deeds had overall been worse here as it wasn't just Superman he tried to hurt, it was pretty much the whole world.

The board were out of their minds if they thought she was going to marry someone just because they said so. She glanced at her watch and realised it was after 6pm.

She was late to meet Kara.

She pulled her purse out of the drawer and quickly collected the few things she had on her desk that she needed to take with her, the last being her phone, before pulling on her coat and heading towards her car downstairs so she could get to CatCo where she had arranged to meet Kara today. She had just got into her car and her driver had pulled off when she pulled her phone back out of purse and typed a quick text message to Kara.

'I'm on my way, just got held up with a quick meeting'

She was about to put her phone back in her purse when a reply shot straight back.

'Excellent I need you to save me from Lilly!'

Lena grinned to herself. Lilly was Kara's new and first PA. The young woman was a huge Supergirl fan and was always dropping things when Kara came back in her Supergirl outfit after saving someone or other.

The decision to keep the super suit when she was saving people was Kara's after a lot of indecision and pro and con conversations with Lena. She knew that telling the world who she was would be difficult for some people to accept and that everyone had become used to seeing the familiar sight of her flying around in the blue and red super suit so she decided to keep wearing it. After all, the decision to reveal her identity wasn't anything to do with wearing the suit, more the double life she had to lead. At least this way she didn't ruin her normal clothes was another reason that had come from Kara. It was funny to see people's reactions at the office when she either donned or took off the suit though as she no longer ran away to do this in secret in fear of people finding out her secret.

Kara was hoping that Lilly's crush and falling over herself would pass and Lilly would become more comfortable around her but this, sadly, didn't seem to be happening. When Lena had called Kara at lunch, just for a chat, Kara had told her that she had accidentally 'super' overheard Lilly tell a co-worker that she thought Supergirl, and by extension Kara, was hot. She was coming to the conclusion that it might be better for them both if she was reassigned elsewhere in CatCo. Lena privately agreed but had let Kara come to this decision herself. She knew Kara had a heart of gold and would rather not hurt someone's feelings if she possibly could. Kara had also been telling her of the number of guys, random guys that she had never met, that had been sending gifts for Supergirl/Kara to CatCo since the interview with Cat Grant announcing who she really was. CatCo's mail room now had a dedicated section for dealing with letters and gifts so Kara didn't have to.

'What's she done now?' Lena typed back and almost immediately came Kara's reply.

'I walked past her to have a word with the Charles about the pictures on that article for L-Corp's fundraiser and swear to God I heard her whisper I was sexy today! Me! Not Supergirl!'

Kara sent a few surprised emoji's and the end of the message.

Lena frowned. Why couldn't people treat Kara normally now they knew she was Supergirl?

Yes, on her Earth, she had reacted badly but not because it was Supergirl just the implied lack of trust on Kara's part to tell her. There was also the small crush she had developed on Kara over the years but she knew this was just that, a harmless crush because who wouldn't have a crush on the ray of sunshine that was Kara Danvers. But strangers didn't have the excuse of the lack of trust that Lena had felt, and neither did she in hindsight as she too had kept secrets from Kara. She remembered the Harun-El experiments with distaste but she had since come clean to Kara about everything and they were in a really great place now.

Well everything except how she felt about her. Lena had a best friend, a proper best friend for what was likely the first time in her life and she wasn't about to ruin it again. Oh she's had friends before, Sam was probably the one she let get the closest but she had never had someone call her at 1am before because she couldn't sleep and wanted to talk to a friend, or someone who just turned up with lunch because she knew that Lena usually didn't stop to eat and she wanted to make sure she ate something, or someone who sent random text message with funny things that had happened in her day. She'd never had anyone who invited her to game nights, or to Thanksgiving and Christmas because she was "part of the family anyway".

Also Lilly knew that Kara had super hearing as a Kryptonian so this just reeked of the young woman's underhand way of trying to get Kara to address her crush in the hopes that it was returned.

Lena realised she had yet to reply so simply sent a few laughing emoji's and as she put her purse away she realised that she had just arrived at CatCo. Her driver rushed to open her door but she had already stepped out. "Thank you Daniel, I won't be in need of the car for the rest of the night." She smiled at him.

"Of course Miss Luthor, will you be needing the usual ride to work?" he asked. He knew that when Lena said she didn't need the car she was either staying where she was for the night or she would be sharing either a taxi with Kara or getting home by other 'super' means. He was fond of Lena and he liked Kara, he thought she was good for the business woman and made her laugh more than he had ever seen her do so before and that was before the big reveal. From his job of driving Miss Luthor around, he had learned a few things about her life and the lives of her friends, mainly Kara. He knew that Lena and Kara were having their usual quiet movie night and most of the times they would end up staying at each other's house depending on where they were which meant Kara would usually be the one to get Lena to work in the morning.

"I'm not sure Daniel, I'll text you later?"

"Of course, Miss Luthor. I hope you and Miss Danvers have a pleasant evening." He smiled at his boss.

"Thank you, you too." She smiled back at him before turning to walk into CatCo to go and meet up with her best friend.
