Liz was scared, not for herself, but for Peter. She had seen him focus in on her, and had a feeling he knew it was her. He gave the battle cry ("For Narnia and for Aslan!"), and they charged forward. Liz killed three 'things' (she didn't think they were really people) in the first five minutes. The fourth put up a fight, and she got a cut on her arm. The fifth actually started to fight, so Liz tried to get mad, and it wasn't working.
Her helmet fell off and her opponent started to talk. "You don't belong here girlie. Let your King do all the work." He was dead within thirty seconds. She fought hard, hoping nobody else would notice, not that it would matter. They wouldn't give a woman mercy. She saw a glimpse of white beside her, and she was pinned in the next second. The thing was about to stab her, when it was stabbed.
Liz looked up at Peter, still on his unicorn, and smiled.
"Get up." She grabbed his arm and clambered on behind him. "If we get out of this alive, you are never leaving the castle."
"You can't tell me what to do." Liz retorted, still fighting while behind Peter.
"In all rightful order, I am King and you have to listen, not that that stopped you before." He said.
"That's right." Liz said nodding.
"What did you do to your hair?" Peter whined.
"Cut it," Liz shrugged.
"Well you couldn't have done it by yourself, who helped you?" Peter asked.
"Susan," Liz replied, stabbing a thing in the process. They went on for quite time in this manner, talking and killing things, until a whole league of archers aimed straight at Peter's unicorn, and the three of them came tumbling to the ground.
"Liz! Are you alright?" Peter asked, getting up.
"Just dandy, what about you Peter?" She asked.
"Just a bit bruised. Let's fight." They fought side by side, like in some movie. Finally it was done to Peter, and the leader of the invaders. He had already killed the best of the Narnian fighters, and Peter was his next mission.
Liz clutched her shield to her chest. It looked like even if Peter lost this wouldn't matter, Narnia would win, but Liz knew that the other person wouldn't even be fighting if that were the case. He had major amount of back up waiting for his signal. Peter fought hard, but in the end, he ended up on the ground. Liz rushed forward, trying, hoping to save him, but she was too late, and he was stabbed in his stomach. Leaving his sword in Peter's stomach, the man turned to Liz and stabbed her in the arm with a dagger; she killed him without a second thought.
It was like one of those horrible movies where the hero died in front of the woman he loved. Except, Peter didn't love her, right? She crawled over to him, praying that he would live, and he turned his face to look at her.
"Liz…I lo-" she cut him off.
"Don't say it! You're going to be alright, and then you can say it, but not now." Liz persisted, looking around. She spotted Sirius and yelled, "Sirius! Come here! Peter's hurt!"
Sirius galloped over with a worried look on his face. Liz had long taken out the sword that had been sticking out of Peter's stomach, but she couldn't touch it, look at it. Sirius picked it up, looked at it, smelled it.
"Poison," He declared. The tears in Liz's eyes finally spilled over.
"No, we'll get him to Lucy, it'll be fine." She sobbed. They saw Lucy galloping toward them on a horse, a determined look on her face. "Lucy!"
Lucy dismounted and ran to them. "Liz! Is Peter alright?" Liz shook her head, more tears coming out. Lucy took the vile of liquid out and poured a few drops into Peter's mouth. He started to stir minutes later.
"Lucy! You're amazing. Now go save other people," Liz said hugging her.
"But your arm-" Lucy started, but Liz pushed her away.
"Go, I don't need it." Liz said again.
"I bet Peter would argue…" Lucy said with a smile as she walked off.
"Liz…" Peter groaned. Liz turned around and smiled at seeing his blue eyes again. "Elizabeth Cullen! How dare you do that to me! I thought I was going to lose you!"
The fire in Liz's eyes was re-ignited immediately. "Peter Pevensie! How dare you yell at me! I almost saw you die a few minutes ago!"
Peter's eyes softened when he saw Liz's tear-stained face. He sat up and pulled her toward him. "You're right I'm sorry. Now, why didn't you let Lucy heal your arm?"
"Other people need it more than me." Liz said simply.
"You should have let her heal you." Peter argued.
"It's just a tiny stab wound." Liz said, pouting slightly. Peter just held her for a moment, waiting for everything to catch up with him.
At that moment, Stephen, Susan, and Edmund ran up to them. Susan looked like she had been crying her eyes out. "Thank Aslan you're alright!" She said, throwing her arms around the couple.
"Good fight." Edmund said. "We lost some good warriors though."
"But we also gained one." Stephen said, smiling at Liz.
"She is not fighting again." Peter stresses.
"You can't tell me what to do!" Liz replies (it seem like she's always saying this now).
"Let's just hope we won't have to worry about it." Susan cut in, not wanted another row.
"Let's just sit back and relax, it's over." Stephen suggested. Everyone smiled gratefully at him, and they went back to the castle.
Peter and Liz were sitting on a balcony, watching the sunset. Liz is wrapped Peter's arms, in a way she can imagine herself for the rest of her life.
"I love this view." Peter said quietly.
"I love you," she replied in a whisper.
"I love you too," He says right back, and leans to kiss her.
It's definitely better than a movie.
