Horatio donned his sunglasses and walked away from the carnage at the docks. The whole thing had not gone as well as he'd hoped but not nearly as bad as it could have. He slid into the driver's seat of his Hummer and looked at his reflection in the rear view mirror. He sighed. There was one more thing he had to do before he went home for the evening and he wasn't looking forward to it.

A short while later, he pulled the Hummer into the parking lot of CSI and stepped out. He hesitated for a moment before heading up the stairs. By the time he'd made it back to the station word had spread that he was alive and several people stopped him in the hallway along his route to say hello. It took him much longer than he'd expected to reach the ballistics lab.

He walked in quietly then cleared his throat to get the attention of the lab's only occupant. Calleigh turned and stared at him for a moment. She placed the gun she was holding on the shelf then removed her eye protection. Without saying a word she slowly approached Horatio. He gave her a shy smile as she walked over to him.

She stood in front of him and reached out tentatively. He was about to reach for her when she suddenly hauled off and slapped him in the face. He took a small step back caught off guard and momentarily shocked. He brought his own hand up to his cheek and stared at the small blonde in front of him.

"That's for making us think you were dead," she said simply with a slight smile. "Now come here."

She pulled him into a tight hug and he quickly relaxed and wrapped his arms around her. "I suppose I deserved that," he said.

"Just don't do it again," Calleigh said and hugged him tighter.
