Chapter 2: A Knock on the Door

"Who would be calling at this time of night?"

Harry sighed and looked up at the ceiling in his room. Not a room technically, but the cupboard under the stairs. His uncle had heard the doorbell ring around eight in the evening. It must be someone selling something.

"Good evening. I am Professor Dumbledore, and I will be taking Harry tonight."

"I don't mean to be rude…"

"Yes, but rudeness often happens anyways."

"Where will you be taking him?"

"The Leaky Cauldron. An inn, before he has to go to Hogwarts, the school I am headmaster of. Where is he?"

Uncle Vernon pointed at the cupboard underneath the stairs. Dumbledore pointed a long stick at the padlock. The door came off the hinges leaving Harry looking shocked and bewildered.

"Hello, Harry. I am Professor Dumbledore, headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry."

Harry felt a small tingling sensation as the room changed into a tornado of color and sound. They reappeared in a small pub.

"Tomorrow morning, the Hogwarts Gamekeeper, Hagrid, will tell you everything. I will be seeing you at Hogwarts, Harry!"

And with that he was gone.
